You know I never thought about the music, thanks for the tip.
I used to use that whenever climbing Ranks in Mobas. it's easier to avoid getting angry whenever you're not being motivated to drastic action which is what epic soundtracks tend to make you feel like doing, but since Sea of Thieves is usually such a slow paced game, with occasional high speed moments I never thought about it in the same light as I did a moba.
I've never earnestly tried hourglass beyond tipping my toes in the water to see whether I liked the pvp meta but being solo that didn't go well x3
If it works out I'll be sure to try and do something to thank you for the help. who knows how long that'll take though lol.

Love it, great advice. Some additional great advice is: you WILL lose, a lot, and that’s okay. Have fun and stay relaxed, having a good time let’s you learn, getting mad blocks everything out. Stay focused while losing, what could you do better, what did the enemy do that worked well? And ALWAYS give a GG, don’t be the salt in the sea. Much love Phuzzy!

Me and a friend duo sloop. We often have a 3-4 win streak at times. I am a god at cannons, maneuvering, and maintenance prioritization. Meanwhile, my friend is an expert border and close combat pvp er. He can board a duo sloop and take control of the ship while spawn camping (Not toxic) while I bombard the ship with cannon balls. Teamwork and Delegation can be the difference between winning and losing over and over again (What is the fun in that?). Having one person do one task while the other person does another contributing to an end goal, will result in a pretty satisyinf outcome. Also the music tip is really effective. While hourglassing, listening to piano or jazz keeps me relaxed and calm whenever I get blundered. It also might help you focus a lot more.

just some good general advice to give to everyone no matter what your doing out on the seas is to just make sure you dont get too frustrated with it and always be willing to take a break and come back later its always better to take a break and come back later to try again when your feeling better and ready to instead of pushing yourself to keep going and causing mental burnout

Some good things are to practice naval combat just sail around a fort and practice aiming on various land marks. Bailing on a sloop isnt top priority u gotta remember to fight back and steer to avoid being presured. If your mast falls dont prioritize it. Prioritize fighting back and repairing to keep them from pressuring you. You can actually win by fighting back and force them to repair. In reality the best way to deal with broken mast is to catch it. As for borders blunderbombs are your friends. Best strategy is to not let them on in the first place. If they do board blunder bombing or ganging up on them will overwhelm them. The best tip is to just practice and learn from your mistakes. Communicate and learn you will sink a lot at first that is ok. Whats not ok is giving up

  • @littletimmy6867

For my console brothers you want to focus more on naval combat than hand to hand TDM because the PC players can do some crazy stuff when it comes to TDM, but in boat to boat combat, it is more even. Also don’t cover your deck in crates because the button to switch weapons is the same to open crates

One thing you can do, especially if your short on time and actually want to get better, don't leave broadsides as much. It may be tempting to get scared when someone annihilates you with cannons as soon as they get an angle, try to see how long you can wait before your certain any long would mean sinking. Yes it's risky but otherwise you'd be having fights that are 30 minutes+ which is why most players run out of time. If the other person is seriously better than you then don't inconvenience them by you wasting their time, if you know you're going to loose, go for the broad, stay in as long as you can, and try to see what they're doing and repeat it for your next match instead of padding out the fight time needlessly.

for me my main issue is confidence
ive sunk tons of skeleton ships of both varieties, ive even sunk a couple of players (definitely less than 5) yet have played since 2020
im a PL but im too afraid to even do athena stuff, my reapers is level 30 solely from alliances selling to them and the occasional "meh im near reapers, ill sell there"
i completely shut down when in a pvp situation because i never know WHERE to start with the fight
"am i being shot? um, ill go repair i guess?"
"do i have shots? yes! but my aim is so shaky, im terrible with this!"
there just feels like theres never a moment in pvp where i can breathe and understand what to do, its all too fast paced even in a duo sloop fight
i know im probably just gonna get told "just practice fivehead" and "ur gonna sink sometimes anyways just get used to it" but that stuff isnt gonna help me, i need some way to relax in that situation
so please, if anyone has advice for THAT, please tell me

I’m working on getting lvl 200 in both factions now and the thing I see the newer PvP players do the most is play defense too much. Other than obviously practicing, getting good at your ship type and crew I seriously see most players playing too defensively as a whole. Learn good timing but boarding will win and lose games. You seriously can’t sink a sloop without boarding. So have a player or two get really comfortable with running around and boarding. My two cents

One suggestion I have, if you’re running sloop hourglass is find someone you can play with regularly. I was horrible at naval and tdm before season 8 started. My friend and I even though we kept losing badly in the beginning started learning something from each match. We began to improve and then figured out what each of us were good at. He was good at helm and boarding and I was good on canons. We kept at it, talking about what we did well and what we could improve. After a month we were winning on a regular basis and having more fun. This not only worked out well for hourglass, it translates well to PVE as we were no longer running scared every time we saw a ship on the horizon. It has most definitely helped with obtaining Chests of Fortune this season where we now go for steals with confidence.

As a person level 800 in both factions, the best way to get better is to solo sloop these fights. If you just wanna hop right into the action and start progressing, solo for me was the way to go. Just remember you do not have to repair and bail moment you are hit on a sloop. But keep the water down and turn out of the fight if you get hit too much! Keep practicing pirates! You'll win your battles over time while improving! Happy sailing!

  • @arathyn8294
    @arathyn8294 Рік тому +96

Duo sloop fights are also great because the sloop is an extremely tanky ship. Don't give up if your ship gets in a bad spot!
Brigs and galleons require several people on bail once only one side of the boat opens up, but a sloop can be efficiently bucketed and repaired by one person until both sides are leaking. A team who is really active about repairs can outlast some of the most extreme pressure. If you want to see this in action, look up Erin Stirling or ItzMino's sloop battles - there are a few videos of their duo rebounding from a full death spiral.
To gain every edge when in tough situations, there are a few strategies you can use: (Just keep in mind these are on the sweatier side).
    1. Maintain helm over mast. Being able to control your ship's angle is super important, because even if you're in a really bad spot with your mast chopped, you can keep your ship broad to broad with the opposition and match their spiral. This makes it so that the amount of holes the enemy ship can open is limited, under the threshold that a single person can maintain, and you can ideally be able to return fire. If you can kill the enemy cannoneer, or chop their mast as well, that greatly equalizes the situation. (Just remember to straighten wheel after the other boat stops moving, that way you don't overturn and lose the broadside angle).
    2. Keep a long ranged weapon equipped. Blunder + sword can be forgiving for new players, but if you want to beat the more challenging fights consistently, you want to have a pistol or sniper in your loadout somewhere (ideally the latter, but you're entitled to what you like better). Since sloops have such a limited crew, getting kills has a huge impact, and your guns still work even from ship to ship distance! Really good helmsman/support players will fire potshots at the other boat's cannon line when they have no other ship management tasks to worry about, and if your shots are on point, often you'll kill the cannoneer because of the splash damage they likely took from your own ship's volley. This is also critical in defensive positions. If you are getting shot at but don't have angle, or aren't able to get on cannon and return fire due to repeated splash damage, gunshots can kill the enemy or at least require them to back off for a bit to heal, buying you a little bit of time. Coordinated crews will "doublecross" enemies by calling out shots and both firing at the same time, which is a really good way to guarantee a kill from range. This is an excellent and fairly reliable method to relieve pressure when your ship is hurting, and tip the scales a little bit.
    3. Use the ship's harpoons if you're able. It's risky, but you can pull an enemy on to your ship and kill them if you're quick. Furthermore, the auto aim of the harpoon makes this more reliable than sniping, especially if you also have a blunderbuss to one tap the pirate you just yoinked over. Though, be mindful of how bad your ship is hurting and call out to your teammate when you're doing this. The last thing you want is to have a player jumping around on your deck when your ship has water up to the map table.
There are many more things to be said, but I hope this puts a lot of valuable concepts on the table.

I personally think Galleon battles are the best for obtaining the curses. You'll come across newer galleons more than newer sloops because most people don't have 3 friends to play with so the gellons you play against are more often than not open crew. Secondly, galleon battles don't drag on forever like sloop battles do as it's a lot harder to bring yourself back if you're losing heavily.

I'll be honest: I am very average at PvP. My win/loss ratio is about 50/50. Despite this, I have the Ghost and Legendary curses and am working on my commendations for sailing disgusting distances while having the hourglass active. I wasn't always very confident in my PvP skills, however. So how did I change and improve, and what is the best way that someone else can do the same?
The secret lies in the mindset. Think about this: even if you get absolutely demolished by a PvP sweatlord, you will still get reputation from that battle. In other words, as long as you are willing to put in enough time, you are GUARANTEED to get to level 100 eventually. Once you realize this, you'll notice that your PvP skills will begin to improve a lot. Like Phuzzy always says, you walk away with something after every encounter, whether that be gold from a win streak or experience from a loss. This is why I did not give up when I hit a massive losing streak from levels 60-70. I pushed through, getting better and better with every battle. Eventually, I reached 100 and got my curse.
Of course, another thing Phuzzy likes to say during his streams a lot is that hourglass PvP becomes a LOT more fun after you get your curses. All of a sudden, you don't feel the pressure to reach a certain milestone. You have your reward, so you don't have to worry about reaching some milestone. Even level 1000 doesn't sound intimidating, especially if you're like me and know that you'll probably never reach it nor have any real reason to. I've seen very few people that get the curses and stop altogether. Whether they keep going for extra rewards, practice, money or just for fun, it's a lot more enjoyable past level 100.
So get back into the game and put in as much time as you need. You'll be rewarded for your hard work, and who knows? It just might make me feel better about how many hours I have in this game.

One of the biggest things that's improved my PVP is recording my battles, watching them later on and discussing with my crew what went wrong and what went right. I think this is important even for battles you won. I highly recommend it to anyone who has the capability and if you don't maybe someone on your regular crew does.

My suggestion to new or casual players is to cancel hourglass matchmaking when the 1 minute ‘searching for opponent’ banner pops up. Matchmaking is skill based, but from what I can tell, if you can’t find a match sometime around the 1:20 mark, the matchmaking expands to include players with higher and lower MMRs who also couldn’t find a match.
So if you find yourself facing major sweats too frequently, trying my suggestion might fix it.

My advice has always been to figure out what you're doing wrong. Be specific and dont blame the other crew for being "too good."
Figure out what was the point of no return and what mistake led to it. What could you have done differently that would have kept your boat floating for anpther 2 minutes? If it's unclear, then tecord your fights and watch them back afterwards. Or if you have a crewmate, talk it over with them every time you sink. Figure out what you guys would have wanted to do better and where everything went wrong. Then make a mental note and try to avoid making those mistales in future.
Don't focus on the level 100 goals. Its just a cosmetic. Focus on making these tiny incremental improvements and learning from your msitakes every time. Atttiude is everything.

So...my story goes as such. Ive played since launch. Ive made great friends through the game, and met great crewmates over the years. Even with that, ive mainly stayed a solo slooper. Its always great to have a crewmate to watch your back, but ive appreciated the challenge in being solo. These days, i have no choice but to play solo, for a variety of different reasons. And even since lauch, i still suck at pvp. Ive put in many hours, and with that alot of practice, but theres always someone better than you out there. It was this knowledge that led me to just not care. It was really as simple as that. Keep reminding myself, it genuinely dosnt matter, win or lose, its all about what you can learn and grow off of. As i once heard Phuzzy say, all loot is just pixels. I wish i had obtained this knowledge sooner as even i have noticed that my game play has slowly improved. Its much easier to win, when you dont really care if you do or dont. Its not an easy thing to do with general toxicity, but if you can train yourself to remain calm, and focus on your strengths as Phuzzy so kindly described, you will always win, even through defeat

I would like to say that duo is one of the ideal ways to play pvp hourglass but the hard part is that since it’s like that there are ALOT of sweaty players that play duo. Solo can be fun but it is less then ideal at times you can just sink because the other player got lucky and solos is better for players who are good at tdm. Galleon is good but you need your team to all the the exact right things at the moment needed causing battles where it can be a really easy fight if the other galleon is bad but it can also mean you can get completely rolled at times since there some galleon with very good player. Brig is the most fun in my opinion it hasn’t got a ridiculous amount of sweats but it still does have them so brig can be fun the only tough thing about it is that the brig is a glass cannon so when your in a bad spot it’s really hard to get back on you feet if the other crew is confident

There are just two things you need for pvp:
    1. Always be doing something, there are so many players out there that have some sort of brainfog and dont act or think the game will play itself, if you arent shooting a cannon, be handling sails, repairing, bucketing, preparing to board. ANYTHING, you cannot win pvp if you do not act.
    2. The ability to triage or prioritize what you should be doing, this is an extension of #1. Always be doing something is good, but to always be doing the RIGHT thing given the information at hand is better. See someone trying to board or is already on board? Priority.
Everything else is stuff that cant easily be taught, aim, movement, game mechanics etc. That all just comes by pvping and you dont get better at it without doing it.

If your not the best at PVP just try get 1 level a day and then you’ll have the curse in 100 days or less, so long as you keep at it you’ll get it eventually you just need patience.

  • @AntiSora2
    @AntiSora2 Рік тому +2

I'm far from great at pvp, probably in the middle mostly, but grinding a few hourglass fights solo have taught me a few things.
    1) Naval is as important as being able to pvp, if you are good at one, and the opponent outclasses you in the other, the fight may not go well, so as said, doing world events to practice naval helps.
    2) Learning to tank bilge can win fights. I've had fights where mast is down and every hole that can be there is there. being able to bilge and repair between a shot here and there against the opponent can swing momentum in a large way. So getting bilge practice is always helpful.
    3) Knowing when and how to keep pressure. As above, if a ship is sitting and having to repair or even anchored, if your ship isn't immediately sinking, apply cannon pressure between your own buckets or repairs, or if you're more pvp, and your ship isn't actively sinking, then when you know they are forced to repair, shot over and distract them at the least, making time between repairs or buckets even a fraction of a second longer can be a deciding factor.
    4) Anti-tilt/when to take a break. If you're unseasoned with pvp, or in general just come up in a losing streak, that's ok. When you hit a losing streak, you can take a step back, log out for an hour or so, let your mind relax before trying again. As Phuzzy said with music and being hyped up, that can distract you and keep you from your end goal or delay reactions. This also applies to dealing with toxic players, as much as you want to be upset, just remember, they most likely have done what you're doing and are toxic to make themselves feel better, but if you don't react, then it hurts them.
    5) Honestly, watch other people play. If you watch guides and practice what fits your style, that always helps. On the flip side, if you watch what your opponent does, you can see patterns they use and play around that to try and get the upper hand.
    6) Play the game to have fun. If pvp isn't your thing, then don't try to actively grind the curses. Instead think of ways to try hourglass out, maybe one or 2 battles a session, or be on defense while doing mid tier voyages/world events. That helps lessen the impact of doing something you don't like. When I started solo hourglass, I sold my wins every time i only had 1, and slowly worked up, to now I try to get a streak, sell and lower and repeat.

So, I have a few points as someone who plays with players in the "pro" scene (competitive) and has been on multiple 30+ streaks against other pro teams (weird flex, I know).
I am more talking in a sense to help people try pvp. Or learn, and not get discouraged.
I know a lot of people can be stuck in their PvE ways, but hear me out.
Grinding hourglass, even if you are decent at the game is all about the mindset. It's designed to take a while, you're also meant to lose 50% of the time.
If you're learning pvp, instead of worrying about how far away you are from Level 100. Or how long it's going to take if you don't win your next fight.
Just play the game, enjoy it and find enjoyment in developing your personal skills.
The curse means nothing. Sure, it looks cool. But a bunch of PvE Alliance only players exploited to get it, etc... So having the curse proves nothing to anyone.
The much more impressive thing is improving on key game mechanics like; aim, ship repair priority, resource management, peoples roles on a ship, etc... Those skills carry along with you and help you make new friends & regular crews to join. It even helps your everyday time on Sea of Thieves, no matter what you are doing. You are then more equipped to deal with anything that comes your way in adventure.
If you aren't willing to try, you will have to accept that not all cosmetics are super reasonable for you to get. That's fine, they aren't meant to be. I don't have any fishing stuff, because fishing doesn't grab my interest.
People are too fixated on cosmetics in SoT, needing to collect everything, feeling shorthanded that they can't get every curse in the game if they aren't willing to "learn the game".
And I say "learn the game". Because there is so much more to learn in SoT than most casual PvE players know.
Anyway, try view hourglass as a catalyst. It is an easy way to learn and try fighting with very little to lose.
Buy some basic captaincy supplies, or don't. And go fight. Takes 5 minutes to setup, if that.
Would you rather do that, or still possibly lose your next adventure fight after spending 3+ hours gathering loot?
And yes, of course there will be tilting moments of being curseball spammed. Or being 1v2'd. Or being out supplied, outskilled, etc...
But they aren't factors you can control. So just accept that's part of the game and go again. The more you play, you will just eventually get to your goal.
I hope this helps at least one person figure that losing isn't a bad thing.
    Peace!

By now, its very difficult and extremely flustrating to play the hourglass. Those who start up and think it will be a simple grind are not ready.
You will meet sweats, extreme ones. Im talking master cannoneers who can shoot your ship accurately from distance, somehow are able to land almost every sniper shot despite you moving and keeping to cover, those that carry blunderbuss and only have goal to knock you off ship or slay you to sail you out of ring... and then most will also disrespect you for losing, like laughing, saying it was easy, or shouting profanity at you during the battle cause youre avoiding their effective cannon fire. And be happy if the match lasts less than 30 minutes and lose.
I played an entire week the hourglass, hoping that id get some meaningful progress, barely getting only 7 levels. Its brutal to the point youtube is now constantly showing me videos where people on hourglass try to tell you how to get good. Mostly, those things dont work because they are highly situational.
My advice? Know when to play defensively and run, and when to brace and pepper the enemy with cannonballs. Lately players are trying certain strategies. Keep you far away but still in their preferred range to shoot your ship, launch themselves repeatedly to board you from miles away, or turn themselves into a tower, standing still and just waiting for you to sail close enough. For these, avoid that range and dodge, forcing them into an eventual bad angle and an opportunity, dont let that boarder get on your ship cause he will be difficult to get off, and for the tower... tower back. They will start moving again eventually.
But even these small tips are not enough. Community days are so rare I didnt even know for a long time they were a thing and dont even happen for the weekend, disrespecting players only anger you with both words and the fact they do this with one of these curses we oh so much crave, and the crushing weight of seeing how little does every long-fought victory bring can make one quit for a year. I know I did.
So, the best advice for anyone. Patience. Time. Its ok to rage at their accuracy. At the waves throwing your shots elsewhere. At your ship sinking once again. At them laughing that you gave it your best and still failed. You may end at the bottom of the sea, but you should never sink to their level.

600 hours gamer here in 2024, achieved both curses and currently grinding for green bones(31/50 champion streaks).
Here are tips i've gathered so far:
Things to note with current meta & misconception about solo = hard:
If you're in NA region, hourglass is incredibly *dead*. There are a lack of good players most of the time and usually you won't get matched against extremely insane gamers.
This means that solo is the optimal way if you are simply just trying to get good and build up from nothing. Usually duo sloops have more experienced players these days, usually with eople that run 10+ streaks confidently
Additionally to that, you don't want to think enemy players are infinitely better than you and that you won't get good like they are. I've only experienced fights against a small amount of gold curses and most fellas in solos aren't as good as competitive players so you can definitely achieve that if you want to be better than Adventure mode's 90% player base.
Less talked about ways to improve:
-Adopt a win or learn mindset. Either you win or you try your best to learn.
-Take a break from the game when demotivated.
-NEVER say "never", or "I'm so bad at cannons/helm/tank/etc, I'm not getting any better at it." You have to be patient when learning new things and improving. You NEED an optimistic mindset and a healthy relationship with yourself. You can NOT learn pvp if you are constantly in a bad mood.
-Do NOT feel rushed to get the curses. I am aware this is a video to help you get the pvp curses but if you are a new player that wants to get either the skeleton curse or the athena's blessing, you HAVE to learn how to pvp first, and you have to learn it properly. The more rushed you are to get the curses, the more frustrated you feel when you lose. Don't think of it as numbers. "I'm so far from lvl 100 still, 59 more levels."
-There are no other ways to get good at fundamental skills like aim, movement or game sense except to just play more.
-Other people suggested to review your own videos to get good. This is a really good method to improve your gameplay, but what you should also do is send your vods to other more experienced players to review them for you. Currently I know that MSponge does that for free on his stream. I don't know about the others but I am sure they do too.
-Notice your improvements. People(me) often get tunnel visioned by their losses and think they are not getting better. You are. From your journey of lvl 1 to lvl 100, you improve massively and you begin to separate yourself from others normal sotters very early. Sometimes even as early as lvl 60-70.
    Gameplay tips:
Even though I am a solo hourglass players, these tips will still apply for duo sloops.
-Keep up on reps often. Yes, you can out bucket, but as you play more you would start to realize that you can not just leave the holes open. Generally, the non broad sided holes are prioritized, then front hole, front broad, and then back holes. Front broad like the ones next to stove holes are more risky but they do pay off if you rep.
-PLEASE, DON'T PARALLEL. Of course, better players will always be better at shooting cannons even on a parallel, but from personal experience, the fight feels a lot more random and the waves are heavier when parallel sloop. It is especially bad in solos games, because even if you mast a player, if they are not dead, you can not just quickly turn back and have an angle for chains before they raise mast. You usually move too fast for that.
-Your mast is by NO MEAN a condition to win. Yes, no sails make your boat rocks more and it sucks, but you need to practice that. The better you get at non moving cannons, the easier your life is while tanking. Against good crews, if your mast is fully dropped and you try and raise, not only does it waste time but it also makes bilge worse. If the death spiral is close enough, raising mast just also makes yourself a big target for getting one balled. Unless your opponent is also not in a favorable condition, such as:
+Moving enemy but they are losing broad and about to be masted
    +Dead players on enemy
+Too much pressure to shoot back
You should ONLY raise and rep mast when you have very minimal pressure and you are confident it will not put yourself in a losing position.
*Raising mast in a solos game also is just annoying because all it does is prolong the fight since they can't board you to stop you from running.*
-When clear angle is presented with no sign of being shot back, you can try to aim for the stairs which makes bilging a pain in the butt. It also can kill someone if they are unfortunate enough.
-Bucket from the front stairs, never the back of the boat. You can bucket from stairs but sometimes you backsplash and it is a little annoying. Yes, there is a chance of 1 ball but all you need to do is to time the enemy's cannons the moment it hits your boat then you bucket. It's not rocket science, don't get 1 balled.
-Dodge by running to the front of the boat. I'm not sure about this tip as I don't do it so often myself but it does make sense. Usually the enemy aims close to where mast, wheel, cannon, and stairs are. In this case, try running to the front of the boat instead since that might help you with not getting 1 balled. I've had my fair share if getting balled while attempting to dodge. This tip is not 100% guaranteed to work so let me know if it is wrong.
    IMPORTANT SOLOS TIP(Mainly helm)
-It is fine to underturn as if you are losing angle, all that you need to do is turn a tad sharper and you'll get angle back. What you DON'T want to do is to over turn. Overturning puts your nose to enemy broad, not only you lose angle but it is easier to get 1 balled. Your mast is also an easier target to hit because the boat is moving directly to their cannons as opposed to matching their turn. If it is bad enough, they can also shoot your wheel even by complete accident, as well as front, right side and rarely back. Do NOT over turn, it makes it harder to fix and you will lose. Keep practicing your helm, the more you do it the better you'll be.
When in orbital, have yourself an imaginary center line. If your enemy is moving to the left a lot more, that means you're either slower than them or you are not turning enough. If you are slower than them, you want to turn a bit harder otherwise they'd go behind you. If they are moving slow, you can get away with a bit tight turn to a medium turn, but don't turn too little since you will go too far from them. Generally, my go to for turns are:
    Starting broad: 4-5 clicks.
If enemy moving fast: +2-3 on top of 4-5.
A lot about helming sloop is watching the enemy and making slight adjustments. Don't take your eyes off of where they are moving. Look at them and analyze, and you'll make a better decisions.
ADDITIONAL: For high seas. If fighting BRIGS, do not get too close to it. Prioritize mid range broad to long broad otherwise you will be in trouble. If you are close enough for chains then you are a sitting duck. If fighting GALLEONS, you WILL lose, unless the enemy do not know what they are doing. If the enemy is bad enough, you might be able to just keep repeatedly boarding them and try to go for anchor. Even on bad crews, a broad side of a galleon is deadly unless they just zoom past you on 3 sails.
I am aware that this is long and I talked too much crap here, but these are what I think will be beneficial for new pvp players trying to explore sloop hourglass, solo hourglass, or just pvp in general.

    1. Don't over-sup. Get some pockets, at most the outpost. Don't spend money. Knife and Go. Get sunk and repeat.
    2. Make peace with losing. You're going to. A LOT.
    3. Pay attention to W/L ratio vs Time of day. Maybe you're playing when only sweats are on.
    4. Find friends. Solo-Slooping is hard mode. It's annoying and daunting but non-toxic people are out there it just takes a little time. Don't Open crew find people on discords like Phuzzy's.
4.1. Read the room. "LF2 AthenaHG 2100+ hours Skelly curse only TDM sweat lolgitgood" is probably not a lobby you're looking for :p
    5. Fight. Seriously. Don't run even outside of hourglass. The only way to get better is to try. The jitters and nerves will go away eventually I assure you. Once you cut your teeth and win a couple you'll see what I mean.

I don’t know what to do anymore man. I’m not good at pvp but I never even get a chance to improve. I did 5 matches today and all 5 were against runners. Can’t line up a shot cause they’re already across the circle, can’t board cause they park and shoot when I try. I can’t win man. All I have left is to loss farm but that doesn’t sound any fun.

i am a really good pvp'er BUT!!! this que for pvp is driving me insane its the same crap over and over beat the other team bla bla bla but id rather do it solo but you cant becuse of the bounds system so i have to kill 2 pirates while i anchor my ship and hope the other ship sinks in time before mine does most of the time my ship sank for stupid reasons so i hit a wall and now the game is not fun anymore becuse it reminds me of the grind so i quit to keep my sanity even tho id love the rewards but its not worth it atm not at the cost of my sanity...

I think it is important that one understands that if you want to improve one specific skill, whether in game or not, it will take its time. we humans are a species which perform by habbit, so if you want to improve yourself you need to build yourself some habbits, be that getting a bucket of water while reballing or as helm going for a snipe after you cranked that wheel as an example. it will help creating a calm environment because your memory already knows what to do so you can adapt your playstile and focus on other problems

A lot of people you fight will be in the same boat as you, you want to make sure that this is their boat so you can steal their stuff. But joking aside I think what helps with the pressure in games like this and similar games where you loose everything is realising how many people are as bad or afraid of combat as you, sure you will run into people who are better than you, or maybe they are just more used to fighting so they panic less, but the only solution here is exposure and knowing how to cope with losses, it's the same for SoT, Hunt or Tarkov. Confidence wins fights.
