I don't care what the critics say. Rent was a solid musical adaptation. It was so great to see the OBC in their roles again, you could tell that this was a great experience for them to get to do this all over again on the big screen.
It wasn't psychopathic animal torture. The dog died because it fell because it was too loud when Angel was hitting her drums, that isn't torture. He didn't even touch the dog. And about the trans part, angel was fabulous before her transformation.

I don't understand how I'm just now discovering this movie in 2018!! I am SO upset I didn't find this sooner!! I am completely obsessed with Rent!! Actually I seriously have a fascination with early 1990s New York City and the whole drug and heroin scene back then. I just feel like it was such a dirty and grimey time for the city and the whole "shooting gallery" thing is SO interesting!
