That's great Alex, thanks. I'd never had a problem with my dumbbell deadlifts until very recently when they started giving me lower back pain. I think it's a combination of both of the points you made.
I was getting lower back pain after dumbbell deadlifts, but after watching this put another set of hex dumbbells on the ground outside of each of my feet, and only lower the dumbbells in my hands until they touch the two on the ground. No back pain. Thanks!
Great tip on using dumbbells on deadlift.....one of my problems was low back soreness because of bar in front....this way you can get in right position from the start( shoulders back)!!! Thanks!!!!!!!!
Thank you for walking me through that! I injured myself and was in extreme pain for 8 days after doing what I thought was a simple exercise. Nope! For deadlifts - FORM is critical!
Thank you! This exercise requires you to focus on several aspects of your posture. This video is very helpful and I think now I know why sometimes I get lower back pain.
My trainer makes me do it without bending my knee and it hurts my back so much. I’m in so much pain. It’s nearly impossible to even keep my legs straight while going down with the weight because I’m tall yet he makes me finish 😭
@@nanophyr_4468 I did end up getting another. The pain was too much, I also had to go to Physical therapy because my back was hurting to the point I couldn’t go on with my normal day routine.
@@fearless6947 well the new trainer wasn’t any better sadly. She would be scrolling online and had me doing dumb workouts, like crunches, burpees, treadmill lots of cardio, which is fine but that’s not what we discussed to reach my goals. We only did like 20 minutes of lifting and breaks in between for our 1 hour session. Dropped her and joined a powerlifting gym and let me tell you!! I look and feel amazing 😀
I still don't quite understand the difference between a regular deadlift and an RDL. It looks like your hips are doing the same thing so I don't get the "hip hinge" terminology. Is the goal to keep your legs from bending as much?
Thanks Alex! Greetings from the Land of the Free here in Florida!! So glad you are providing your fellow Brits with exercise tips while they wait for their "vaccine passports" allowing a path out of the authoritarian lockdown mode. At the same time it's truly outrageous that this condition exists in the country that brought us the concept of a Free Republic and the authors of the Magna Carta. Tragic. But, as Paul Joseph Watson reminds us, most brits seems to be clamoring for this kind of fascism. A true head scratcher. Cheers!
