Miss Lori, I use self rising flour, plain flour, cake flour, hmmm what else. Lol Whatever works for the occasion and food I’m preparing. You are a fantastic cook with a HUGE following of loyal subscribers. Don’t let the few snarky folks get to you. One of the many things I enjoy about your channel, Miss Lori, is that your recipes are simple and delicious. So many other shows make things too complicated... yours is just right ! God bless !
My mother would slice it into round slices and fry it like it was a green tomato. I would stand by her when she was frying them and as soon as it was cool enough I would eat them .Love fried squash and green tomatoes.
We went on a diet years ago and I fixed a ton of squash, made up a bunch of ways to fix it, wish I had wrote it all down and made a squash cookbook lol
Miss Lori, your hair is fabulous! I have been frying squash in discs for years. I can't believe I never thought of chunking it. My new way of frying squash from now on. Thank you!
I just love your cooking segments. You seem like "down home" kind of people. This is how I was raised and how we are raising our family now. Your videos are just peaceful to watch.
My grandmother would fry squash, okra, and green tomatoes together in a skillet just like you do when you make fried potatoes. She would coat the cut up squash, okra, and green tomatoes (all cut into small chunks) with corn meal mix. It was so good.
I do enjoy watching you and your husband as the two of you go through your day. But to take the time out of the two of your day and share as the two of you do, is a blessing for soooooo, many of us. If I don't have buttermilk, I'll beat an egg in some milk. We use the handle end of a wooden spoon stuck strait down in the fat to check the heat. If it's hot enough, bubbles will form around the spoon handle. Can't wait til our squash comes on! Yours looks sooo good!!
What a blessing today was. I met a farmer who sold me some fresh veggies for next to nothing and it turned into a meal and then I had a lot left over. Maybe 2 or 3 more meals. And then after looking for info on the white squash I got I found this great recipe and this blessing of a woman. She reminds me of my grandmother, gran, and just the idea of cooking with concepts and not so much specifics of a detailed recipe. It's how I remembered from my childhood. I plan on seeking out more of these videos and you are for sure the blessing I was hoping for. I know others will feel just the same.
Sadly, my sister, who had a nice garden and would share with me, lost her husband last summer and has moved from her house to a condo. Now I have to hunt around for good yellow, squash, one of my favorite summer treats.
Oh yum! I love squash, but always sliced them too. I love your tips about the cornstarch or arrowroot. And I love the idea of cubing them over slicing them. I'll be chunking my squash up! We eat a lot of squash during the summer and fall.. I sprinkle it with parmesan cheese as soon as it's out of the frying pan and occasionally I'll serve it with marinara sauce as a dip.. So good!💗
You make me miss my mother SO much. I loved farm life and the big garden she had each year. Her prize was her asparagus. Try it, you'll like it if Arkansas can grow it. We were in the middle of Texas. Thank you for all the hard work you do. You are very much loved by all of us. God bless...
Yes, Martha, us southerners love everything fried. I love it, but my favorite is just squash and onions sautéed slowly in butter with salt and pepper. That brings out a delicious, deep, unique flavor that just says summertime to me.
This looks SO wonderful Miss Lori! My Mama and Mother in law both made this and we love it!! I have used pancake mix as well with a little chopped onion and celery in it. Thank you for everything you teach us!!

@@WhippoorwillHoller We had another frosty night, but I'm taking a chance and putting them out today. I'm glad I didn't go by the accuweather 30 day forecast!
I love squash any way you cook it. I even cut up raw and toss it into a salad.
Have a blessed evening, stay safe and healthy 🙏🥰👍👌🙏🇺🇸✝️🙏🇺🇸
Oh my goodness ❣️ Nothing like fried squash 😍
anything is possible obviously.
How are you doing today?
I’ve learned so much watching you cook. Thank you.
Love fried squash. Wish I was there to help you eat it.
Me too! It looks soooo good!!
Looks so good this made me feel at home miss cooking with my grandmother thank you kindly💟
Thank you, xoxoxo
I love squash. We used to make squash fritters, too... thinking on that, I would use some of the canned squash for fritters. So good.
Good idea!
Hi Lori the yellow squash is so good and I love the method how you fry it up. Never knew to put buttermilk and soaking it, then self rising flour seasoned to fry. Thank you. They came out so nice golden brown. ❤️❤️👍👍🌷🌷☺️🥰
I definitely want to see how you freeze squash. I’ve tried it and it seemed to just be mushy when I cooked it. Side note: my daughter and son-in-law live in Harrison (I’m in FL) and it’s so beautiful up there!
Thank you Ms. Lori! My mouth is watering! This and a bowl of brown rice with butter is dinner!!
One thing as about growing up with squash , grandma would slice and fry it and we would eat sandwiches with mustard and squash. Still do to this day.
GOD Bless You Sister and Your Family 🙏
Thank You for making these Wonderful Videos.
Thank you Mrs. Lori for addressing the flour by adding baking powder and salt. Mrs. Lori, we have not planted our garden yet! it is still to cold in Wisconsin to do so! they are talking a frost tonight 27 May and tomorrow as well. I will have to try this when we get it planted! thank you so much Mrs. Lori, love y'all

That fried squash looked so good! I’m definitely gonna try your recipe Ms Lori!
Wow, what a small world! I found your video searching for fried squash recipes this rainy morning! I grew up in Imboden 40 years ago! Thanks for your recipe and your great advice. God bless to you and yours.
Your welcome!
Yummmm! Can't wait to get squash this year! Just now planting mine here in Louisville, Ky zone 6b. Been cool and way to wet to plant warmer weather veggies until now. Here's hopin'!
Im so happy that I came across this today. I grew squash and I don't know what to do with it. Thank you. I envy your simple sustainable life.
I’ve never tried fried squash! Can’t wait to try it once my squash starts to come in. Thank you for the recipe ♥️
This is really yummy looking! Got to try this! Thanks for sharing your Grandma's recipe for Crispy Fried Squash!
That Fried squash looks delicious. Still learning. My mom and dad sautéed squash, zucchini, and onions together. I loved it. Now you've made me curious about frying it. Great video!
Best opening to a you tube channel. Love the dancing, makes me smile everytime. ❤️🥰😊
Thank you
I've never seen yellow squash prepared that way, but then I grew up in New England and not the South! 😉😉 Looks yummy!
Yes, Martha, us southerners love everything fried. I love it, but my favorite is just squash and onions sautéed slowly in butter with salt and pepper. That brings out a delicious, deep, unique flavor that just says summertime to me.
My momma makes Squash casserole and it has always been mine and my brother's favorite thing. ALWAYS!
This looks SO wonderful Miss Lori! My Mama and Mother in law both made this and we love it!! I have used pancake mix as well with a little chopped onion and celery in it. Thank you for everything you teach us!!
Yummy looks good I'm going to try that I love yellow squash and all squash and veggies
