As for me I have a question. I lost my Seadoo 150 speedster boat key. Bad thing is the boat is no longer in the USA.
So I cant get it back to the dealer here in the USA to get them making key for it. So I buy a DESS key in hand.
My question is, Can it still be program without having the original key?
Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately, we don’t know of any other way to program a new key unless you have a working key, other than going to an authorized dealer. This is an anti-theft strategy from Sea-Doo. Good luck!

I have a candoo pro that i use for my rotax powered jet boat. I am buying a seadoo that has 1 broken key but it still works. What cable are you using to program the key. I dont think i have that cable with mine.
It’s the cable that came with the Candoo Pro. Check your instructions and make sure you have all the hardware you need for your model. Good luck

This is all good for adding an additional key, what if you don't have old key?
For anti-theft reasons you need at least one original key, otherwise you will have to go to an authorized Sea-Doo dealer to have one made. Good luck.

I believe they're the same, but you should confirm directly with Candoo Pro.

Hello I hope you will see my his message…I got a no working 2002 seadoo bombardier with a locked up motor and no key I have all the paperwork, I’m in GA and I would like to get this working I need a key to start off with…where can I get all this setup?… because for some reason the few local businesses said they don’t work on it because it’s too old.
As far as we know, the only place to get a key made without another key is at a Sea-Doo dealership. Any respectable dealership should be willing to do it for you. Those key systems are very common. Good luck.

Here are your answers: 1) It shouldn’t be possible to have 1 key that works for 2 machines, as the “newer” machines are digitally associated with a unique key; and 2) Try out each key on each machine to find out which ones work and which ones don’t. Good luck.

Yes, I’d consider those new enough that the keys should not be swappable between your two machines.
You can have a key or keys programmed for more than one machine. Not sure if the candoopro can do it but a dealer can. Nice to only have to have both machines keys programmed and a spare In the pickup glove box. This way if for some reason you left one of the keys out of one of the machines the spare key works for both machines.

Great video vary educational was your device used just for the key only or to do programing for other functions and where did you purchase the programer at sea Doo?
The device can be used to make keys, diagnose problems, reset maintenance minders, check faults, etc. We use it regularly. We ordered it directly from Candoo. The licenses are a bit expensive, so it's good to split the cost with someone else. Sea-Doo doesn't sell them.

My WakePro 215 dash will not light up. The relay clicks in the fuse box in the back. How do you test the key or the post? Any other ideas?
Do you got any beeps when you put the key in? Have you tried a second key?

how does this work on a 2000 gti . it doesnt have a power up settting, you just put the key in and push start...? how would you make a new key?
A computer is still recognizing the specific key, so you still need to program an additional one to actually start up the engine.

You can make a key with a candoo pro, but unfortunately you need a key to do that. The dealer is the only other way we know of to make a key for your machine without a key. Good luck.
i have a wake pro 215 that states "reading key" message and is stuck in limp-mode while operating it. Any ideas before i drop $$$ on the Candoo diagnostic tool??
Have you tried a second key? Also, check for codes by referencing the Owner's Manual on the process to get more details on the problem. It could be a problem with the key, the post, or the software on your machine. Let me know what you find.
@@3ftDeepChannel i ordered a new key and post. i dont like throwing parts but they take a while to get here. for the price idc and im trying to be on water this weekend. i got the tool (CANDOO) coming as well. should be here tomorrow. In the mean time ive been checking connection and wires but havent found any corrosion or chaffing. The message will display "reading key" all the time even if i'm underway. It may or may not be in limp mode, i dont see any indications that is other than low end speed is missing. So maybe in normal mode. still does 62 mph. I got to looking around and i see some small crack in the cluster so I'm thinking the internal components shorted and is pulling comm down between cluster and ecu. I dont know how its still operation but i know computers can do unusually things when damages or faulty. ill let everyone know my finding in a couple days.
Okay, good luck. Keep in mind that you will need at least one good key to use the CanDoo Pro. Unless the software has changed recently. It's an anti-theft strategy.
so i received my candoo hardware today and connected to vehicle. I havent done much diagnostic work besides pulling codes and I'm getting nervous. The u codes are mostly pointing to cluster replacement or ECU. I just bought this machine from a Dealer with 52 hrs and have rode less than 3 hrs. not happy. if its the

dealer quoted $2400 for cluster.throttle body and two senors. threw those parts on it and nope didnt fix.called me today said needs an ECM, Dealer did pay for repairs in full so im not too mad about being 4 weeks in shop. i bought used as a package deal from a BSM in ofallon,mo. Before i complained I was able to program new key. started and ran just had same reading key message. Hope this helps someone Check all inputs and outputs for these communication codes before buying parts. thanks

Ah, yes. Most of our videos involve 4 Stroke engines so are relevant to 2002 models and earlier.
Ok, Lets think old school, Basically the engine needs 12 volts supplied to the coil to run, 12 volts to the solenoid to start. Does the computer control any timing advance to the engine?? Can anyone tell me why I cant run my own wires and completely eliminate the computer? I realize there wont be any bells and whistles but it would beat the scrap yard.
Let's preface this by saying anything is possible if you put enough time and money into it and I'm assuming we are talking about the 97GSX mentioned earlier.
Some googling will get you a wiring diagram for your machine which will show what is connected to the MPEM or brain, what happens in the MPEM is a little harder to figure out. For ignition the MPEM gets a signal from a pulse coil that is used to determine when to fire the ignition coil there is probably an ignition advance curve in there based on engine RPM the MPEM also uses this signal for the rev limiter and tach signal. The info gauge, trim and pretty much everything electrical runs through the MPEM so no easy task bypassing it even if you just want the basics. A lot of Seadoo models from that era used the same MPEM in different machines a 97GSX is not much different from a 97GTX so finding a replacement MPEM with key might not be too difficult.

@@3ftDeepChannel Could the pulse coil be used like a set of points in a distributor to send a timed ground to the ignition coil ?? I realize there would be no way to tune the spark like the computer does but it would still run. Maybe set up a vacuum advance on the pulse coil !!

Tried this today. 2009 seafood. When we went to “write to vehicle” the option on the menu was grayed out. Why would this be?
My understanding is with the new software, the changes are automatically applied so you don't need to write to vehicle any more. Check your ski out to confirm.

Which change are you trying to make? I recall having the same "write to vehicle", but it did end up working. And to confirm, you did purchase a license from Candoo for your machine?
Adding a key
Oh, that one's a bit finicky. We had the same problem, but it eventually worked. Fiddle a bit more and if it still doesn't work, give Candoo a call. Good luck!

What the heck is that gonna help if you dont have the old key!!!!!!! and if i did why would i need a new one???
You normally get one regular key and one learner key with a new machine. If you lose either, you've got to go to the dealer to make a new one. It's also nice to have a spare. The reason you need to have at least one key is to prevent theft. If a thief steals your machine, he/she can't get a new one made, especially if you register your machine as stolen through the dealer network, like we did a few years ago.

Great product, but they limit you with what can be done. For the price, it shouldn't have a limit on the programs. I have had my skis for years and only have program left. I have a business and hate to knock anyone, but it is cheaper to go to the dealer since these models are getting outdated.
By “program” do you mean vehicle license? If so, I can understand the limitation, as they need to turn a profit given how much effort it is to develop this type of software.
How to replace DESS Switch?
Unscrew it and screen new one in.

Yes, you need a computer but that's about it. A used laptop goes for about USD $50 nowadays, so that's no big deal. If you can split the cost with a buddy, it pays for itself very quickly. You can add new keys, take off the Maintenance minder, troubleshoot, check for codes ...

I just purchased the home edition of the Can Doo pro box for $399 and got a blank DESS for $35, and thats about it, it was so simple and straight forward, the laptop I used was 6 years old i3 laptop that worth next to nothing now, total investment was $434 and I ended up with 2 extra DESS keys that would cost me north of 1K if I ever did it with the local dealer.
Oh, and I still have 3 extra license which I can use to create keys for $150 fee and I could get all my money back if I had to!

Yes, but it has many other uses (clearing maintenance reminder codes, etc.). It also comes with 2 licenses, so you can split the cost with a friend.
In my location all dealers only carry the DESS software on-hand for ski's that are 10 yrs old and newer......older one's we are on our own (I've been told).
