I see the Tauros and Miltank connection as how humans have domesticated animals. One is still wild and therefore aggressive while the other we molded it to our needs and made it cute and cuddly

Watching the anime and seeing Ash ALSO get steamrolled by Miltank was crazy, because that was my experience, too.
I LITERALLY pumped my fist and screamed YES when he finally won.
IIRC around that time there was also a Got Milk commercial featuring Miltank, which is just perfect imo.
I’ve never understood this. Whitney’s Miltank steamrolling people is like a huge thing in the Pokémon community but I’ve always experienced her as a very easy and forgettable gym leader
@@T0NI_ I think the worst part of it was attract. When I would play as a kid, I only caught and used male Pokemon so attract made things very difficult lol. Also rock types make it much easier, but given its only the second gym and most people pick cyndaquil and have a bird on their team, their team becomes a lot weaker to rollout.
I never had a issue because I always pick a water starter and having access to rage will raise its damage
That's how I felt when I got steamrolled by Aloe's Watchog and eventually went victorious and when I was watching B&W, I was pretty surprised that Ash was also having a hard time with that accursed traffic hog.

@@santa5628Scrappy lets normal moves hit ghost types, so if you try to bring a ghost to the Whitney fight, her Miltank can just use stomp on it anyway
And they even gave it a Lum Berry, just in case someone had the idea of hitting it with status ailments. Whoever came up with that set must've really wanted kids to experience Whitney like they did back then.

Yea, I actually never thought about Miltank being a dairy mascot. Like a cool, recognizable mascot for ice cream that literally stares at you while you're shopping in a frozen section.
I feel like if you picked up a Miltank it would make a squeaky toy sound. I have no proof this is true, i just know it in my heart.

I remember powerfarming Oran berries after I gave all of mine to the sick miltank but three wasn't enough... And then I reach Mt Silver with dozens of Oran/Sitrus berries because "what if I need them again?" The milk vendor reward is basically nothing, but there's only two sick pokemon in the game and you don't heal both of them you're playing the game wrong

I mean, if you don't use Cyndaquil the fight really isn't that big of a deal. Miltank is pretty strong for how early in the game you encounter it, but it's also not that difficult to overcome.

A lot of factors made Miltank a surprisingly tough gym battle for where it is in the game. I think I had to hunt down a manky, nidoran, or machop (I'm not sure which one) because it knew low kick.
@@Yoshyguy21 it has enough bulk to be difficult to take out before it builds up momentum on rollout unless you have a type advantage or a very strong attacker. If it doesn’t roll a miss then by turn three it can start one-shotting a lot of your team! And with Attract and Milk Drink it can disable your attackers or recover HP between Rollouts. It’s a pretty mean set!
It wasn't hard for me as a kid. I think I killed it in three or four hits and it either never used rollout or missed.

Honestly, I've been wondering for a while now how they would handle her gym if they did another remake because her ace is still pure normal but the gym is shaped like a Clefairy, who completely changed type so is no longer even part normal. (Not like there aren't plenty of other normal types to swap it with, but the Clefairy shape feels iconic after they did it twice.)

No they should make the sound type a thing give it to the Mons which makes sense given its mainly Jigglypuff and Clefairy's but also you got to for the Miltank just hearing the sound of the rollout coming towards you gives you nightmares. Also using phrase Autobots rollout but with Miltank

Never occured to me that miltank doesn't have a male specific variant. It gives me that meme cow from nickelodeon cartoon
It's generally believed that Tauros is the male counterpart to Miltank. Male only, a literal bull to Miltank's cow, the same type, egg group, leveling rate, and base stat total, and when in games together they're always found in the same areas.

@@MrIljuha2000 That's a quirk of tbe Pokemon breeding system. The resulting egg will always be of the mother's species unless you're using Ditto.
@@formorian5 Illumise and Nidoran-f have a 50% chance of producing Volbeat and Nidoran-m eggs respectively, so it's weird that that's not the case for Miltank and Tauros.
'Sausage Nipples' is the most accurate name for Miltank, even more so than its actual name.

Not sure about competitive play, but it’s alright for having on your team for casual play. With healing moves and defensive stats, Miltank is basically a Pokémon cleric.

Miltank also absolutely destroyed me the first time I got to battle it... the only saving grace was my haunter who got rollout so many times it actually ran out of that move and it couldn't do squat after that. (My haunter was an absolute beast despite attract)
If it was back in gen 2, try it again in gen 4, it has scrappy now

Weird that an egg produced by a Miltank has a 50% chance to be a Tauros in some games. And Tauros with Ditto can produce Miltank iirc.
Like, I get it, it's a bull and a cow. Miltank, all of which are female, is the gender counterpart to Tauros, all male. It's similar to Nidoking and Nidoqueen being technically different evolution lines, and later gens would introduce more pairs like this (notably Gen 3's Volbeat and Illumise). But in every other example, the Pokemon are at least visually similar, while this one is just... Weird.
Well what do you expect a bull aka a male cow is quite different to a cow. You take away that aspect it's not too dissimilar just that because of the added features of being female it's bipedal and only one tail instead of what Tauros has which this is Pokémon those differences don't mean much

A while ago I made a lot of pokemon teams for characters I like. One character I got to had a cow motif and I felt almost physically ill having to put miltank on the team because the internet ruins everything

Milktank in-game model also seems to be one of the few Pokemon with a lively idle animation. Where most others seem stiff, even lifeless.
I use to not even think of this Pokemon until I got a chance to use it for as a challenge and I fell in love with it it’s my top 5 favorite normal Pokemon
My main memory of Miltank is that one Got Milk? commercial that aired sometime during the 2nd gen Pokemon anime.

I feel like fairy types actually don't lean as much into the whoelshome uwu kinda thing. A lot of the fairy types are thankfully based on the classical fairies that are like linked with magic and stuff. I don't really know much about it but I think pokemon has defined fairy type more than just "cute thing" .

Over half the Pokémon species among Goldenrod Gym’s regular Trainers have been reclassified as Fairy-type (well, secondary Fairy-type in Jigglypuff’s case); add the fact that the whole place is Clefairy shaped and it’ll probably be a Fairy Gym in a future Johto-based remake. 🧚♀️
