OFC THEYRE HOMOPHOBIC!!! like?? What are we watching? Is been a couple years since I saw this show but is obvios that they're homophobic. It's not as simple as "be yourself" or "get out of that situation if it's unsafe" that doesn't always work in the real world and when it's your family that is involved. People diminish Alec struggles too much for my liking. He's trying to do what he was groomed to do and be, the face of the family, and idk why people can't empathize with him 🤷🏻♀️
i have to agree :(( i hate when ppl say it’s just the prejudice over downworlders not homophobia, because if that was the case none of alecs characterisation would make any sense. he’s very clearly afraid of the repercussions of being out as a gay shadowhunter in a way that goes beyond just normal anxiety and denying the gravity of that also denies his bravery for what he does here.
yeah the show was cancelled due to it being too high in costs to make. they had a bit of warning, and had to make the series finale longer in length but they def did the best they could with the time they had to make it
For the following seasons, they are broken into the 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B structure so you’ll notice the mid season finales have a very large finale feel to them as each half season has a pretty distinct plot arc

yay we made it!! this is such an iconic episode for the fandom and at the time the wedding scene went viral for that epic kiss lol. there’s also a great bts video for this episode and matt (who plays alec) does the best description for what happens 😭 tbh everything he says is a little insane and iconic.
and as we rapidly approach s2 i just wanted to point out that not only does the budget and look change a lot but they also brought in new showrunners so everything will feel different. imo it takes a few episodes to settle into a good momentum but then it just gets better and better.

We're here!!! Malec :DD 🥳!! Genuinely it's such a good episode, even besides with Malec stuff. What's crazy is I almost feel like I might have heard vaguely about the wedding back when it aired, and I didn't watch the show until like, 2021 xd. Anyway! You're totally right, Jace is really going through it, and I'm glad you can sympathize with all the characters (within reason). Also him and Alec making up is so sweet :').
Ragnor's little game messing with Clary just to bargain is funny lol. Sad that he dies right after :(.
The wedding scene is honestly so iconic. And the "I can't breathe" ;) what was it Magnus was saying happens when a certain someone walks into a room? Anyway, the kiss is iconic and I'm glad Lydia was so chill. Also did Magnus dye his hair for that lol.
As a bit of an explanation/my own assumptions, I believe the Clace is kind of homopobic. They make it a little more clear in some other parts, but it's something they tend to skirt around a bit and talk more about the fact that Magnus is a Downworlder. You can definitely tell from the way Alec acts that there's cultural homophobia though. I believe it's more outright in the books (I haven't read them), but it could be they didn't want to bring it into the show too much. Or maybe it was censorship, who knows. Nonetheless, most people tend to go with "Yeah, the Clave's homophobic". I love your "And in the month of June no less" though LOL, iconic.
Also, to me Ragnor's consciousness was a little extra present because of magic of some kind, and since Magnus was looking through his things (and in emotional turmoil) he temporarily manifested, but they never really make it clear lol.
Anyway!! A wild episode, loved your reactions and so excited to see the next video :)).
