It makes it to where you not only need to barrel the ball but you've got to have enough torque so it becomes a technique thing more than a who can buy the most expensive bat and look better than they actually are thing. That's why I like baseball so much better. Even a cheap Louisville slugger bat can go crush a ball for like 30$ and the only thing you're getting with an expensive pro custom bat would be a custom feel for whatever specs you get. And possibly some durability however it's amazing how long a normal ass slugger bat can last if you don't get jammed on the hands.
Don’t get me wrong, $300 is expensive. However I remember back in the early 2000’s when slowpitch ASA bats were in the $500-$600 dollar range. I remember the Titanium bats that were $700+ when they came out.
Ya, my old man used aluminums with red dots and then blue dots....both will fly well off aluminum/wood if you square it up. Now you want crazy: I was just getting in to slow pitch when composites were new and they introduced the Miken Ultra with an ASA stamp. That did not last long! Lol
Ditto. I wasn't a big guy (5'10", 175) but had a lot of pop. Early 80's I was using XBH bats but kept denting them. Then switched to the first TPS bat. That bat sits in my garage today. Would love to know what I could have done with these newer bats.
@@Smedley61 I still play around with my old man's Easton Black Max and his TPS. Comparing the old bats with a livelier ball vs a modern Utrip bat and ball, there are some differences. The main one I see is sweet spot size. I see why in the 80's they had those "bottle bat" style bats ....the sweetspot is much smaller and less forgiving. So if I time travelled and put a modern composite in your hands back in 1984....you would notice a difference. Here is the REAL crazy thing: I started slow pitch after I was done baseball right when composite bats were becoming a thing. First year in mens ball we started with ASA stamped Miken Ultras and good balls!
I was going yard 300' at 18 years old back in 1983 with a $20 bat 34" 36Oz, we bought from the Howard's Furniture Team. That was before they started using Aircraft Aluminum.
I’m liking the look of the Stringking with the matte black finish. Someone should really make a generic composite bat like that. One that is reasonably priced because your not paying for a logo on the bat that will eventually chip off anyway.
I thought the same but you put in a few hits and have that bat rolling in the field dirt, it ain't gonna be a clean black finish anymore lol. At least all the fancy designs can be better at hiding dirt and scratches.
Would like to see a comparison between an expensive aluminium and a cheap one or expensive aluminium with a similarly priced composite or cheap composite and expensive composite etc.

The MIKEN MANIAC is a budget bat as well. Dicks exclusive. Interested in seeing you guys swing it. It'd be sweet to see a single-wall metal comparison too. There are a lot of single wall leagues that would love to see bat comparisons head to head. Yes, they'd be far less interesting than comparisons where you got bats hitting 350-400+ft. But people would watch them.
Factually single-walls can generate MORE trampoline effect, it's just physics, BUT they dent massively easy, AND it's hard to recover from that dent... hence cheap price for beginner batter to hit it farther with ease. But even rotation every pitch, I'll usually destroy a SWB in 50 swings. But I'm also a golfing teaching pro, and I hit squarely nearly every swing, which also guarantees near immediate denting of SWB. There's lots of different reasons on inexpensive bats, but they're geared towards lesser/newer players.
