I'm so glad that I came across this video! A friend sold me a midload bat several years ago and thought midload was the new lingo for balanced. But, when taking swings with the midload bat, it feels completely different than any balanced bat I have. Thanks for putting together this video to explain the differences!
Guess bat technology has changed a lot since I played some 25 years ago. I plan to play now in a senior league. I was always a power hitter that used a heavy bat (38 oz.) with a thick handle. I used a green Bombat if you ever heard of it. I'm not a strong as I used to be, but still think I can generate some power in my swing. i especially hit with power to right and right center field. What type and weight of bat would you recommend to me. Note, I always dislike skinny handled bats.
Things have certainly changes in 25 years. They dont even make bats over 28oz anymore. 26oz is the most popular weight. In slowpitch you need to generate the power through swing speed so I would suggest a lighter weight.
I remember using the 36-40 oz bats in modified. I just bought my first 26 and feel like I will swing out of my shoes hahahah. My framing hammer is 24 oz
Power is also a factor of mass (F=MA) and the extra mass certainly helps when you are hitting to the opposite field when your swing velocity hasn't reached its peak. @@SmashItSportsSIS
I’m new to slow pitch and I’ve fallen in love. I want to get my own gear. Can you suggest a few options for a low level player who is looking for the best bang for his buck for his first bat? Perhaps some $100 range bats that have some of the features you mentioned in this video. (2 piece, mid and end loaded etc. I’d really appreciate some advice on some budget slow pitch bats to look at and I’ll definitely be shopping on your website. Thanks in advance! Love the content!

1 pc vs 2pc is defined by if there is a connection piece from the handle to the barrel. Some bats have a connection piece, so the handle goes partially into the barrel of the bat with a connection piece between the 2. A 1 piece bat does not have a connection piece and the handle transitions to the barrel as 1 piece. Similar to a wood bat. If you need more information on the subject feel free to reach out.

I play in a modified pitch league using Clincher 12 ball. What bat do you recommend for that?
We have heard feedback from customers that Easton ASA bats are great for clincher balls.
One piece bats, better for Canada dome ball? With those Juggs Softee sofrballs?
The softer the ball, the stiffer the handle the better in my opinion. So yes you would benefit from a 1 pc because it is a stiffer.

No such thing as a one piece composite bat…. Composite literally means more than one piece by definition haha
Although you are right for most softball bats, there is such a thing as a one piece composite in baseball. Baum bat is a one piece wood composite.
