Over 26 million of us have taken a DNA test in the past decade. This growing popularity of genetic testing has created worldwide databases that allow us to ask questions previously impossible to answer about our families, ancestry and health.
Stacey Dooley is meeting people across the UK who want to unlock mysteries hidden within their genetic code. Working with one of the UK’s leading geneticists, Professor Turi King, as well as genealogists, social workers and doctors, she uses the very latest DNA technology to reveal lost heritage, track down missing relatives and detect debilitating diseases before it is too late.
All our TV channels and S4C are available to watch live through BBC iPlayer, although some programmes may not be available to stream online due to rights. I love it that her sister's children embraced their new found aunt and met up plus still in contact.❤
I do too. Such sweet and loving people. That doesn't always happen. I'm happy it happened for all of them. Life is so short and seeing people embrace one another is truly a beautiful thing.
Such a touching story. So sad her sister died at such a young age.
The number of times these programmes come down to poor Irish girls being abused and taken advantage of is so depressing and sad.
Religions to blame. ( and men of course)
@@memorylane9557 🙄
Catholics.
@@memorylane9557 Mostly Catholicism. Christianity as a whole perhaps, but look what society has become when you try to take it away. Are we any better? Not.
@@thewanderingamerican5412 how do you know that? Example?
Oh, my heart. How lovely that both sides understood that it was a chance to connect to Veronica again. ❤
Its so beautiful to see this family reunite and fill the space left by the separation and tragic death of her sister. I hope this is a happy beginning for them🌞💝
It’s so wonderful to see a beautiful family connecting
I do not get easily moved by programs but whenever long lost family members meet I bawl my eyes out:❤❤
Same here.
Me too!!!!
This is all very lovely. But it doesn't always end like this for everyone. I found my bio father through a DNA company. My bio father's side of the family. They want nothing to do with me. They basically want me to get lost. So I'm very happy for this lady but it doesn't always work out for those of us who are in a similar situation.
I'm very sorry to hear that. One hopes that eventually someone on that side comes to his or her senses. It's easy to say, "Why would you want to be accepted by such cold-hearted people?" But that's facile. You're not looking to be accepted by cold-hearted people. You're looking to complete your identity... I'm so sorry that the gap in your life is still there. To have found your family and them not wanting to find you must be such an ache.
I too had a half-sister who completely rejected me. It hurts.
It’s a shame that happens to you and many others. I’m still glad it can provide some answers, if one wants to know more than before it’s always a good chance to gain more knowledge. In some of these videos the relatives have passed away and nobody else connected to them reaches out either, it’s really a case to case basis.
Agree i have 4 half siblings don’t want contact
So sorry about that Mark. I hope they at some stage change their minds. You are not responsible for anything the parents may have done. You have a right to be. Take care ❤
Turi is such a loving soul.
Her newly-found niece resembles her a great deal.
did they ever say how het sister died so young?
Love these stories
beautiful results.
I had the best parents ever, but I sometimes wish I'd been adopted so I could find some other family that loved me. My parents are gone now. Sometimes I think these things that are painful are really blessings!
I prayed really hard for 2 years that if I had half siblings I would find out about it. Then, behold through DNA, I discovered a half brother.❤
I not cryin, you are. 😥😥
this is what's called love story
Good to see that a sister is found! May I share in this joy&happiness? Cause most of my far far family lives abroad, or left this world. I have some friends now. Miss me mom... *wave to the heaven, bye momsie I whisper*
A lot of poor souls are watching this thinking, "what a lucky lady, I could definitely use a new family" 😅
I can feel for her. I found out i had a sister at 30 years old and that i had nieces. 😢
I found out I had an older sister I never knew about by doing a ancestry DNA test.
At least in the other program they didn't show people when they were told of the death.
Did they say how Veronica died? She was so young.
😂😂good 👍 👌 👏

Adoption is human trafficking. Listen to adoptees. Guardianship keeps identities & history intact.
It’s certainly not all good but so very many of those adopted would have otherwise grown up in total dysfunction/poverty/young parents etc. if the parents were set up to be capable parents in most situations they wouldn’t have been given up. Are there bad things, absolutely …however millions have been saved from vastly inferior living standards and would have had completely different lives. So many end up with far far far greater stability, education support, good education, happy childhoods and stable adulthoods.
Trafficking is dealing in something illegal. Adoption is completely legal and necessary.
What rubbish.
