    I work sometimes in the field, and in Ecuador, the sun can be a pain in the ass. Using sunglasses definitely helps and reduces the risk of many eye-related complications. Good tips!

    Haha love the analogy of not needing shoes but they make life easier. I definitely fall into the camp of choosing not to wear my glasses because 'i don't need them' and don't want to 'worsen my eyesight'. But I've recently gotten a pair of frames that i can confidently say i love and i plan on wearing them as much as i can now

    Glad you debunked that myth about whether wearing or not wearing your glasses makes your eyes better or worse. Interesting fact that your eye muscles are the most active in your body!! They’re active even during sleep. Another reason to take good care of them and reward them with the right pair of glasses. As usual, lots of useful information!

    I found lens wipes to be inconsistent. Right out of the box - some are wet, some are dry. Dry ones scratch up the lenses. Ironically the best are those sold at the dollar store. Instead of using them on my eyewear, I use them on my phone screen. I use water to clean my lenses.

      Zeiss is great. Local shops sell store brands. When I open the individual packs of the store brands, some are really dry. The dollar store brands are consistently wet but I use them for my phone screen. I use water & microfiber cloth to clean my eyewear.

    Hi, ive just started wearing prescriptions glasses like 1 month ago, after research (mostly your videos cos you kinda have one of those trustworthy faces 😁)
    I took zeiss smartlife with duravision silver (platinum is not available in my country😢) however its been a stressful experience, because no matter how careful i am, like only microfiber and zeiss wipes, it still somehow got scratched, its not a big scratch tho, just something that can be seen if you put flashlight on it. It bothers me somehow, I ended up religiously just using water (sometimes with very basic dish soap, just distilled water with surfactant,nothing else) and air duster so nothing will touch the lens. But this got me curious, is (soft)scratches a normal thing when wearing a glasses?or is duravision silver is just not worth the money anti scratch wise?

    • @thespectaclefactory
      @thespectaclefactory  10 місяців тому +1

      They aren't really designed to be tightened, because it's a metal on metal joint the material wears over time and loses friction but that doesn't mean it will drop off and it doesn't affect the functionality.

    I know people who will not buy a spare pair of glasses or sport goggles. They say they don't want to waste their work health insurance on such things. They use old glasses as their spare. And don't mind risk getting hit in the eye while playing sports. Since they will only wear them 1-3 times a week, they think it is a waste of money. Eyewear is a great investment for enjoyment & safety.

    So for those of us who live in places where the air hurts our face in the winter because it’s so freezing outside, does going inside into the warm house from outside count as a rapid temperature fluctuation? It’s not abnormal at all for it to be -25°c or even -35° if you count the windchill outdoors and then walk inside to over 20°c and have your glasses fogged up from the change for a good 5 minutes or so 🤦🏻‍♀️

    • @thespectaclefactory
      @thespectaclefactory  7 місяців тому

      Yes, that is not good for glasses. My advice, and I know it's a bit more effort, would be to leave the glasses you've been wearing outside near to the door for a while after you come in (where it's not so warm), and switch to a pair which is acclimatised to the indoor temperature.
      Otherwise, you could have a set of uncoated lenses purely for outdoor use, although you would also get more reflections.

    • @autistikait
      @autistikait 7 місяців тому

      @@thespectaclefactoryhmm, that doesn’t really work when you’re out and about though. If I’m walking into a store or something there’s not really a place to leave my glasses. To be fair, I’m also one of those people who only own one pair of glasses though so I can’t anyway 🙈. Glasses are so expensive I’ve never been able to afford more than one pair at a time 😬
