My dad was a criminal defense lawyer in Texas in the pre-BWC era. It was common knowledge among defense attorneys that the local cops were notorious liars, but they always had to tell clients that it was impossible to challenge their word no matter how much circumstantial evidence proved them wrong. This is why it's so wrong when people claim that the cameras don't actually do anything. They've saved a ton of people from wrongful convictions and have helped to change public perceptions about what cops actually do on the job.

What made me pay attention to it was how much they stressed that it would always be a secondary offense, and never a primary reason that we would be pulled over. And if they slam into the side of a soccer mom van at 120 mph. It will be ruled the van driver is at fault for interfering with a police operation. Then if the driver or any of the children survive the horrific fiery crash, they all will wind up in the county jail awaiting trial, after being in the hospital on life support. And if the officer in the cruiser got a minor scratch on his pinky finger, all of them also would be charged with felony injury to a law enforcement officer, in the commission of his/her duties.

As a juvenile me and a handful of my friends were hanging out in our neighborhood on the street. Not selling anything or doing anything illegal. A cop car drives up and jumps out with guns drawn, out of fear a couple of us ran.
The two officers gave chase to me. As I crossed over one intersection another cop car comes speeding down the street and runs me over with the cop car.
I go flying about 10-15 feet. The two officers who were chasing me, already having their guns drawn, jumped on my back one jumped on my neck with his knee and began to pistol whip me about 3 to 4 times in the head.
I was only 16 years old. I still have the paperwork from this case. We never sued or anything. My parents didn’t have any money for a lawyer or didn’t even know how to go about filing a lawsuit. These actions made me not like police.

In Ohio, you might not get stopped over a seatbelt, but it's that pesky license plate light out that gets you stopped and that no turn signal within 5 million miles of a turn. Then since you are stopped, they will just toss the seatbelt ticket, just for fun. Most people here are taping a dollar store battery-operated flashlight onto the rear bumper to illuminate the self-illuminating tags and turning that bad boy on right before driving. Just an added precautionary method. 🙂
