I had the pleasure of serving under Col. Acree while in VMO-2. Great leader and wonderful airframe.
I was stationed at Futenma 1st Marine Air Wing. During guard duty, I walked the flight line. I noticed the OV-10 and took a look. 72-73 Tour, had a blast so much so I volunteered to serve again 75-76. We all know what took place then, Saigon evacuation, what fun!
I was with MABS-36 from Dec 73 to Dec 74. I got in under the change from 12 month tours to13 month tours.
The longest and best working aircraft tend to be the cheapest; while those with massive costs die out after a few years (Maintenance costs and downtime being biggest).

Great Airplane loved loading and arming the munitions as a Aviation Ordnanceman. Fondly remember my time with VMO-2 and H&MS-36 Flight Section in the early 80's. 8:31

Thats what made the Stuka the P38 and the IL2 Sturmovik so good at their job straight wings for good low speed maneuvers small enough for quick strikes and more munitions for harrassing vs drones its a tried and true concept that the higher ups keep taking away from the ground forces
man nice vid on OV-10 bronco I have seen it during the late 2000's when a PAF bronco flying near our town attacking New peoples Army positions 40km in the interior.
Cool airplane. I remember seeing them doing rough field testing at Pax River in 1972. I saw one land on a freshly harrowed field.look at all that sand. I went there in April and May of 91 as a civilian communications technician.

Cool aerospace vehicle. Our unit had a Marine corps attachment with AF 0A-37’s and the first OA-10A’s in the AF.
I saw a vet wearing a hat once that had an OV-10 on it with "I FAC'D IRAQ" above.
Do a video on how Bronco was murdered (in both USAF and Marine srvice, despite the USMC retaining helos which have inferior loiter time and high altitude performance) by senior leader pilots who only wanted to fly fast jets. There was a Marine Bronco jock who wrote a great article on the subject years ago but I don't recall the publication. Desert Storm was the excuse.

What is stupid is that these little plains were heavily armed in Vietnam . The US should have used them in the same attack rolls doing the same thing . They could have protected himself just fine .
