- So I found out that Jaguar make an app so I can start my XE from my phone! I run through the cool app and it's features that is so flashy I love it!

Thank you for this video. This worked out great! I did have to contact Jaguar to delete the previous owner and $127 later (for one year of service) I was set. Had to download the app and set up the account on my phone which the Jaguar contact helped with. My wife can start the car from her office which isn’t near the parking lot and there isn’t a window. Seems to work off a satellite connection. The dashboard on the app is helpful too where it shows the status of certain aspects of the car. The one that helps my wife is the fuel level. She might not drive the car for a week and can’t remember if it’s low on fuel so she checks and she then knows ahead that she has to stop and fill up.
I just bought a 2017 XE THANK YOU I was surprised a car this nice didn’t have this feature jow I know it does this was VERY helpful now makes me think how much else idk about my car 🤔

Thanks, just checked the website/App store, and they had really bad reviews. Technology sounds good, but to iffy for me for now. Glad it works for you, but I read so many reviews that were negative, I decided to not use the app. Thanks again, still a great video.

I've just bought a 2017 25t AWD in Ferenze red with black pack and red/black seats with only 10k on the clock. Looking forward to receiving it next week once I get the paper work all sorted. Interested in the plug in for increase in BHP. I have a 3litre XF that was 240bhp and I had it tuned to 300bhp. Amazing difference and really quick. Sadly I will be parting with it but it has been an amazing car. Jaguar do make nice cars!
Picking up my f pace R sport tomorrow and they sent me the app info a few days ago, last night I did a cheeky beep and flash from 200 miles away 😂 hopefully gave security a fright 😆😆

I LOVE IT!!!
You only get remote start if your car comes with incontrol premium. Only incontrol standard comes with all cars and you cant add premium as an extra .. it has to come with it.
Also its not free , incontrol standard is free , premium is free for the 1st couple of years and then you have to pay for it , granted its not much but its not free.

I live in Dubai, downloaded the app, didn't have UAE listed as one of the countries recognized by the app, so I just checked UK, problem is, it doesn't accept my VIN number :(

Yes, there is a fee. I thought there was something wrong with mine. But, I found out you have to subscribe to 'InControl Remote' (£36 for one year or £57.60 for two). The car is getting the info from a built-in eSIM. This is totally separate from the optional SIM you can insert for Navigation Traffic etc.

I own a Jaguar XE 2017. Do you know how I can upgrade my electronic system so that it can be fully compatible with my androit phone? for example, my navigation system seems outdated.
I assume when you got in the car and pushed the brake pedal that you had the smart key in your pocket? If you didn't have the smart key would you still be able to move the vehicle having used the app to start and unlock it.
My ex partner is refusing to give the car back after we split, even though it is all in my name, unfortunately there is no spare key, we never got it from jaguar, they are desperately trying to find it!! In the mean time I have to pay everything for a car I don't have! Thanks guys.

Does your car have a sim card in it? Or does the app just work with the car without you having to insert a sim card or data card?
It connects via the Jaguar SOS satellite system, no SIM card required 👍

Hilton does remote climate/start work for you? My 25t originally for German market now in Belgium is missing this feature.
bmw owners have this for ages, you can even call concierge for info etc.... is this any different? i used to lock my car at rail station with the spare key in the dashpanel, and unlcok the car over app from another city for my friend when he went next to the car and open the door and use the spare key to drive away.

Do you have the basic “Touch” infotainment system without any packages added to it.
Yesterday I was at a dealer speaking to a salesman and I asked about this feature. He told me I had to get the “Touch Pro” and add to it the extra features available with the Pro system.
I left a bit disillusioned and read the online brochure again.
Either the salesman or the brochure is wrong, if you could clarify things I would appreciate it.
On another point, do you have to select a “manual mode” before using the paddle shifters or does the gearbox respond to them even in “Drive”

+Barry Naylor I have the base level infotainment system. The app has nothing to do with that system that I know of, so I’m not sure what they mean.
I searched in my App Store for “Jaguar remote”, downloaded it and the followed the instructions of setting up a free account to link the car to and pairing the car and app together, took about 15 minutes and then has worked fine since then. You could also google “Jaguar remote app” and the website will give info about it.
The paddles work in either D or S, I have disabled them in D so I make the conscious choice to either drive lazily or use the paddles.
Thanks, the Golf is a good car, but I’m over the moon with the XE. RWD, plenty of room, decent amount of power and all the luxury of a Jag.

What’s a real world average you get trying to be careful?
+Barry Naylor yeah having the choice of choosing full automatic or paddles is a nice touch.
Funnily enough I have 12 month review coming out tomorrow ( Saturday 11th) which I address the MPG that I mentioned before. It’s way better now, my work commutes are really short so they throw my figures way off. Normal driving it’s approx. 33-37mpg and when I’m having some fun it’s 24-29mpg all depending on the journey and conditions.

One more question on the app starting feature, have you experimented with the distance you are from the car to establish if there is a range limit ? I can’t get my head around how it works if you don’t have a SIM card in the car, how does the app/phone connect to the car ?
In your video we’re you still in Bluetooth range ?
I work on a huge site and have an 8 minute, 700m walk to the car, I was wondering if I could start it en route or as I set off.
On the m.p.g. front, the new “ in house “ ingenium engines are supposed to be a bit more efficient, will have to look into it a bit more, that could cement my decision, I think the engine in your car was sourced from Ford.

+Barry Naylor it uses data not Bluetooth so in theory it should work whenever you have decent data. But I haven’t tested it’s limit yet.
It runs on satellite connection with Jaguar assist, hence why you need a data connection. It is explained a little when you set it up on the website.
When the XE was launched, Jaguar stated that all of the engines are their own ‘ingenium’ engines, the new design platform sparked the new engine design and manufacture.
I have the remote app for my Sept17 F Pace it has developed a fault, when I try to start the car remotely it fails and messages car not secure even though the car is secure, locked and all windows and sun roof closed

@@KateeZa1 Hi, no I have been unable to sort this issue. It is very hit and miss it works very occasionally but fails many more times than it works.
I wonder if the Project 8 supports this? I am guessing probably not though.

I've followed the instruction, linked with vehcle & downloaded the android App, unfortunately No Climate Control Button and will try to start the eninge tomorrow and locate the vehicle location trying again. Thanks anyway.

As explained in the video, models with the auto gearbox will work and that it costs nothing to get the app or set up. Go to the App Store and search “Jaguar Incontrol Remote” app and follow the instructions. 👍

No, you don't have to have a SIM installed, the car has an eSIM hidden away somewhere. Try it. Just download the App and you can see where the car is, and journeys etc. You just can't do the remote lock/unlock & engine start without the subscription

There must be a kind of connection between you and the car. Otherwise how can the car receive the command? So if you have not a sim card in the car with internet connection how are you connected with it?

Yes, after the first 2 years (I think) it’s about £38 a year? It’s been a while since I’ve looked but it’s not massive cost for what you get access to.
Forgot to ask you, do you have to pay any data rate fees for this service
It uses your data allowance or Wifi depending where you are, but once the car is running or you shut the app down, it stops using data.

+Donte Lindsey I don't believe you can open/close windows from the app, the closest I got was that if they windows are down it will lock them and close them. But the Global windows are on the key fob anyway.

So when your car has been remotly started you can't just walk to it with your key and get in?
You can but it will override the app’s instructions. In my experience if I start the car with the phone and then walk up to it with my key and open the door, the engine cuts out and you have start it again as if it was a fresh start, where as if you use the phone to unlock the car, the engine runs continuously and you can just get in it and go.

Remember there are subscriptions for all these in control apps. You create your account then they want billing address you make up a pin and ching ching 36 squid just for the remote app it's not like it's free. No bloody cd player I only get to hear ma tunes when her in doors is in car with smart phone. Leave it out Arfur!
Great video are you completely sure this is free? I've got a 16 plate r sport and I've just set up my account and it says that the subscription has ended and to use the remote app it needs to be renewed at a cost of £36 for 12 months
That is something I’m discovering recently as when I bought my XE I was told that it was completely free, I was not informed that the free was a specified time frame so yes once it has run out it’s £36 for a yearly subscription.

Communicates via Jaguar’s satellite tracking and SOS system.
For The Drive when i tried to add the vehicle in the phone app. it says that, sorry we could not find your vehicle. this may be because the vehicle does not have incontrol services installed.

O cant find anywhere a slot to insert SIM card. I have looked under the arm rest in the storage area, I have looked on the back side behind the front seats in the middle part where the the AC vents are, and o also searched in the boot area and didnt see nothing. Can someone help? Is it possible that a jaguar xf from 2016 doesnt have this feature?
You do not need a SIM card for this to work. I believe the sun car holder is in the boot under the lip, lift the boot and bend down and look under the top and there should be a box there. 🤞

It was a custom one off build back box system made by Longlife Exhaust. It cost me about £400 but you’d have to contact them for a price for a custom kit.

Hello, can you send me the link or website of where can buy or install it as I have manual jaguar xe 2015. I am been searching for it but I cannot find anywhere.
It only works with the auto gearbox, there’s an optional upgrade that Jaguar offer for the manuals which wasn’t cheap. You’d have to contact your dealer to see if it can be installed post build and how much it would cost.

No, the climate control is the only thing that can be controlled. One thing I’ve noticed is if the outside temperature is low enough the driver’s seat is on when the car starts, but it’s automatic.
Totally random question but what are you finding as the real world mpg? Is it actually anywhere near what Jag claim for the 240bhp?
Erm, I have somewhat of a lead foot so I’m not always driving it “normally” but I’d say the mpg is fairly accurate, it’s surprisingly good for the punishment it gets on a good convoy.
Cool idea, shame the app is garbage. My Remote Start works maybe 20% of the time. Now I see why the app is Rated 1.8 out of 5 by its users

Strange, the only thing I can suggest is delete the app completely and try downloading again. I’m no expert so sadly I can’t help any further.

Remote climate not available in Belgium 😞. Missing some features because of regional restrictions.
What does this use for communication? Some cars didn't get the 3G WiFi hotspot so does that mean they can't use these features, or does it connect via Bluetooth?

You need to contact your local jaguar and show them proof of you owning the car and your ID. They should reset it for you
So guys. My friend bragged about this system. He had it last year. It's great he said. He told us what he could do with the app on his phone. Yeah Really cool!!!!. But myself and a mate of mine, downloaded an app n to teach him a lesson on bragging, we used this piggyback app and moved his car about 2 miles from his place of work. His phone didn't let him know the Jag had been taken as it thought it was all in order. But he went ape when he got to the car park n his car wasn't where he left it. Good idea. But really shit. Only took us 15 mins to take his car.
The system I use is so much better.
It's called a fucking key.
To register the app & phone to the car you need to be in it & connect via the maintenance button. Also an email is registered with the vin. So how did you do that?

If you have the auto gearbox it should work. Just need to google “incontrol Jaguar app and follow the instructions to set up.
