- It was kind of hard to show you guys how to replace it since the inside of the door is barely accessible, but I tried my best. Hopefully it was not confusing and you found this useful. Thanks for watching!

Thanks guys I was able to switch my actuator largely using this video. I would note though that when you are popping the plastic part of the rod it helps to push on the rod itself at the same time to pop it off. I was stuck just yanking on the plastic until I pushed on the rod at the same time then it was very easy (can push the rod back into the plastic as well). Also you can look through the holes on the side of the door to see the rods easily. Those would be the tips I would add, thanks again!
Thanks for sharing some tips, pinning this for others to see 👍🏽
@@equinoxgts thx for the video, recently bought a 2000 celica and both the door lock actuators are busted so nice to know what's gone be waiting for me....if i can find a actuator for the left door otherwise i'm gone have to outsource this problem >.> somehow plenty of used and new right door one's but left one's are scarse where i live(also gotta replace the right door due to rust so scouting for any information related to the doors and taking them appart/off to find out what that will involve >.>)
This was not an easy fix and I don't know we would have been able to replace the actuator without your video. Thanks very much for taking the time to record and post this. Super helpful!
After watching this entire video, I realized I don’t even have a celica.
Well shit, just pretend you have one.
I just bought a GT-S yesterday and I have this exact problem. Only the hatch locks and unlocks. Thanks for the video!
Nice! No problem, hope this video will help you!
@@equinoxgts Apparently as I can see, a lot of people has the same problem with used toyota GT-S, it's kinda funny how they could mess up such a thing. Btw thanks @Equinox a lot for this!
Drive side hasn't worked for year's now, ever since I took it in for door repaint from an accident.... after confirming how simple it could be with your awesome video I thought what the heck. 30 minutes + $9 part from the mainland
Glad I was able to help! 👍🏽
Thanks for the detailed video guys! I was able to replace the driver side today less than an hour. It was fairly easy after I watched your video and paid attention to the tips you pointed.
Glad you found it helpful!
I had the same issue with my Celica. Thanks to your help I could fix it in just two hours. Thanks a lot!
Great video! Thank you! We replaced passenger side today pretty easy thanks to you. Still gotta do drivers side.
I've had this problem for a long ass time and now problem is fixed. Thanks man! you rock
Long ass? What is long ass? Why isn't just the word long sufficient? Is it cool to sound dumb?
Thank you !!! I had the same issue with driver side actuator ! Following your video it was very easy for me to do the repair myself. Saved a lot of bucks !! I just had trouble with the golden nut holding the lock, mine was REALLY blocked on the bolt, so I had to saw it in two for releasing it ! Aside from this problem it was everything quite easy. Thanks again !
Glad you found it useful! 👍🏽
Great walkthrough, really helped with your zoomed in shots. Just replaced mine today, two tips I have. 1) There is a little sticker covering a hole, if you remove that you can see inside the door and see the two rods for when you need to put those plastic tabs on/off. 2) . Make sure the locking cable is clipped in by the handel far enough back. If you put the cable on and test it out (before hanging the door back on) and it looks like the lock just doesn't go all the way, try moving the cable back just a little.
Thanks for the video bro, jus ordered my actuators. Should be doing it next weekend !
Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for this video I’ve been sitting here trying to figure out the triangle price problema for 3 hours
Great job and details. You are a pro!
Thank you for the end! I ran in to the same issue!!
Was able to do both doors on my 03 bc of this video. Thank you, you rule!
🙌🏽
Thanks for the video, I follow you step by step and successfully replaced the actuator, the tricky part for me was to pull the bar off from the door handle, that was hard and took me a while, and the other part I had trouble with was to plug the harness back into the new actuator, somehow the harness won’t go in and I have to modify the actuator so I can finally fully plug that in, other than that the whole process was smooth and easy, thanks to your video!
Yup, definitely tricky in that tight space, glad you found it helpful!
Thanks very much for the very informative video. Thumbs up. One suggestion...I wish you had included the putting it back together procedure...I mean, yes, for sure, it really is just the opposite of the "take apart" procedure, but quite often, the putting back together is trickier than the taking apart or has a tip or trick, or something to watch out for or remember, etc, or, it's just easier to be able to work right alongside the video, while it's showing the put back together procedure. But again...thanks very much...
Thanks for watching and I appreciate the feedback!
Thanks my friend!!.. im having this problem right now!! I gonna put my hands on work!!
Thanks bro, I am doing exactly that, thank you for making that video and getting rid of doubts, I'm from Puerto Rico and I'm in a project with my celica😭🤣🤣🔥
Have the same issue on my 02'. Thanks for the upload!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you, just finished watching this video
Just bought a 2000 gts like 2 weeks ago and it has the same issue but only with the passenger door sometime it works but that's rear, thanks for the video
Glad i could help! 👍🏽
thankyou king just fixed my central locking
👍🏽😌
Now you gotta redo the pass side! Great info!
Passenger side was done before filming so it looked like I knew what I was doing ha
@@equinoxgts I remembered ya saying that, but wasn't it hanging when locking? Did you have to put the arm in the cup on the passenger side like you noticed on the driver side? Really good breakdown though, gonna tackle mine right now!
Good job....
Thanks for the video, time to do my wifes car.
Good luck! 👍🏽
took me 6 hours lol, went to the junk yard . the first 2 i got didn’t work , 3rd one worked and went home and took me about 2 hours at first it didnt lock all the way. it will lock and unlock but then it got weaker and weaker then it stop locking. had to take it apart 2 times . finally wrap some electric tape on the triangle thingy and now it works perfectly. i think i took apart 4 celica doors today, i’m beat. thanks for the video, it helps a lot. next project is seats then struts
Wow what a hassle lol
Glad the video was helpful!
New ones are 20 bucks for 2 cheap ass
Mine were replaced but the cables weren't put all the way back in. Make sure they both snap. Mine came off and the passenger door wouldn't unlock inside or with the key. Good video.
Excellent video. I make video’s, and you did a great job at showing practically everything
I bought a gt and my doors also don't work this vid is helpful
thanks. I have the same problem after replacing mine. Good to know the correction for cable travel.
l
These part fits also from 1st generation Yaris. In my country i paid for them $7, same part but for celica $25.
Same problem with my locks...thanks for the video
You’re welcome, thanks for watching!
You are amazing
Thanks for a great video. Recently acquired a 2000 Celica with just a few things that need some work. There were key fobs so I ordered a pair and went to program them and was partially successful except for the drivers side. The fob would not program because the drivers door would not lock, leading to a faulty lock actuator. Your video will save me a good bit of time getting this fixed. Thanks and keep up the good work with the videos.
Thank you, glad you found it helpful! 👍🏽
My tip for everyone is dont unscrew anything until you popped out all the rods. Its easier to pop those out when the actuator is still screwed in because they’re in place & not moving. When you unscrew the actuator first, it starts to wiggle & it makes it difficult to pop out the rods. So do that first then unscrew the bolts that holds the actuator in place.
🧠
Thank You really explained this very well. Next nice day I going to try to Fix Mine! Does your remote work? I hope my Alarm will when I'm Finished.
Yea my remote still works
My actuator jiggles a bit but doesn't lock, do you think it's fixable?
are you going to a evap video? mine celica having the same evap issue.
I replaced my gas cap with a better condition one and the code hasn’t come back since
Hey just got my actuators replaced not that long ago took my door panels off and now they don’t wanna lock again but I’m sure it’s not the actuators any idea what else it could be?
See if you can still hear the actuators when you lock and unlock. If you can, maybe the metal rods that connect to it got loose. Or check the cables that connect to the handle/lock switch and see if they’ve come loose.
Great Werk
thxxxxxx
Cool
where do u live man i need my door lock actuators replaced too i'm not good at tearing up the car and doing these things lols..i am probably gonna get a pro to fix it lols. some times the passenger locks and unlocked when it wants too... and the driver side is completely dead and useless, so i would lock it with my hands manually lols.. hate it been years man lols its 2024 and had this celica since 2012.. so i love to update it and have it working again lol, just bought the parts for both doors so i gonna have to find a pro to fix it now lols tired of manually locking it with my hands for years now lols will update whenever i find a shop who can replace my new acuators.
ay, does anyone know if a 01 Celica GT-S has keyless entry with a fob or is it just they key? 🤔
2zzlow made a video on how to install the oem alarm
thanks bro bro
Hey i bought a remote control but now i can't lock de door with the buttons and it doesn't work with remote too, just the trunk work. But before was working perfect.
There might be a reset/reprogram thing for it, try lookin online
I can’t get the door handle rod out I’ve undone the clip but the rod won’t come out I’ve pulled with all my might
I had the same problem. Did you ever find out how to get it out?
Did you have to disconnect the battery before doing this or no?
Naw I didn’t
@Equinox or someone who can answer to me, the link doesen’t work ... where I can find that pieces? Thanks !
I found some on amazon but I’m not sure of the quality
Cursed Garage thank you... i bought a set from eBay sellers 30$ .. (are probably Chinese) but we will see if they’re good
Anytime, let me know if they work out I may buy some off eBay as well if they do lol
Cursed Garage sure
Cursed Garage hello, it arrived the left one from eBay (15 days shipping) I mounted it and it works fine... maybe I missed something that the interior door lock switch don’t lock the car but it works !! From the OEM one it’s a bit different but it fit .. not perfectly but it works for me
how they holding up?
Still working!
What abt the outside door handle
Where can I order cheap actuators?
I have it linked in the description..
why doesn’t my dashboard lights turn on in my celica
hi how many hours its takes for you to fix it??
I believe it took me like less than an hour
@@equinoxgts wow when i put mine it tooks me almost 4hours
Now I think about it, I think it did take longer for me...like 2 hours...I don’t even really remember to be honest

After I replaced my actuators everytime I lock it from the inside, it double locks then when I click on unlock it doesnt unlock anymore. I have to manually unlock one of the doors for it to start working again. Does anybody have this problem?
I just installed new actuators in my celica today and Im having the exact same problem, im not sure what to do
Did you ever end up finding a fix?
@@marcomontagnese2317 Its because the actuators I bought isn't 100% compatible with celicas. I bought it from amazon & its a generic one. I believe there are ones specifically made for celicas, get those ones instead. I ended up opening my oem actuators and just replacing the motor inside of it. Took some time but it saved me some money as well. Good luck!
Dang i need this done on my passenger side lol but im too lazy to do it. Ill just leave it manual lol
😂😂😂 your life would be so much easier with power locks though
@@equinoxgts true but back in the day we didn't power locks lol I'll survive😂👍
Manual or automatic?
Manual
I was told a fuse would not cause just driver side actuator not to work. Can someone confirm this before I buy a new actuator?
Thanks so much!!
Just check the fuse and see if it’s burn out or not. If it’s fine then it’s probably your actuators. These are 20 year old cars so they’re bound to go out eventually.
this be taking HELLA long
And it took a lot of brain cells
Бляя вот были бы субтитры на русском ... спасибо тебе
