This actually clears things up for me😂. Just bought a mini 2 and am going to set it up soon. I want to track myself when I head out, but im not interested in sending tracking data to friends/family, and don’t want to pay for that service. I will take your advice by setting the “send intervals” to never, and hit “start tracking” at the beginning of each trip.
It is actually quite confusing but your vids have cleared most of it up. Basically there’s a difference between simply tracking yourself on a hike (free and requires no money) and sending people your location in 10 minute (or quicker) intervals. Like you said, if you simply want to track yourself so that you have an accurate path to retrace if you get lost, then just hit “start tracking” without setting up the map share feature.

Glad I could help. I hope everyone got my dry sense of humor when trying to make this clear.
