Help me out here. Whatever Hamas does to Israel, the Israel hits back tenfold. It’s been like that for decades. What did Hamas think was going to happen to their women and children when they attacked on Oct 7? Even trying to rationalize it as a “violent resistance to occupation”, still… what were they expecting to see? They go on a suicide mission to hurt Israel as badly as they can, didn’t they think this would lead to the bombing of Gaza? Or was that the point? To extract a disproportionate response from Israel? And if it was, what does that say about how the military wing of Hamas thinks of its people?
They thought that Israelis would do a white march with flowers, candles and teddy bears. But personally I think that if Palestinians had done a march of protest saying "not in my name" although they have always asked for a separated state, if they they had shown that they were not supporting Hamas in such a deed, I am sure that Israel would not go that far. But Palestinians showed their support by singing, dancing rejoicing. But Israel haved showed them that you must never pull a lion's tail.
