i've always wanted to grow some eucalyptus, but i'm unsure if any could take the winters here reliably. it rarely goes below maybe -12, but then once in a while it drops to nearly -20. pauciflora niphophila is the one which might be able to do that from my research, but i've had no luck getting it. found seeds a couple times but never had them germinate.
Not sure which Eucalyptus would survive -20℃ The snow gums would be a good try, and also Parvula is said to be frost hardy to -18℃, they've certainly thrived in -8℃ here with freezing fog and verglas for a couple of weeks at the end of 2022. My tip for germinating the cold hardy varieties, is to give them the 8 to 12 weeks of stratification, but just as important, is that when you take them out of stratification, a temperature of around 10 to 15℃ max, warming than this and they may not germinate. Hope this helps ? Good luck 🍀
I'm not sure, they were in the plastic sweet tin for a couple of years. Whatever the reason, I am very pleased and looking forward to finding out which variety they are 🤔 Thanks for taking the time Tom 👍🏻 Happy Xmas 🎄

thank you for the advice
You're welcome, good luck 🍀
I guess the good germination rate of the indigenous seed was helped by their being fresh seeds?
