Great video. I knew most of those, but didn't think to look at the rails. Always nice to get indepth info and watch someone take us through the whole process. Much appreciated.
$650 Picked one up this past weekend JJ series like yours, all original, truly shows almost no usage and appears to have been a real safe queen. Hadn't seen your video first, but it does confirm I made a nice purchase!
I always enjoy comments like: “I purchased an original W. German Sig in mint condition, with box, target, original receipt, and 10 original mags for $300. Was that a good deal I got?”
@ Steve Jenkins I have a West German P226 in excellent condition I bought in 1988 it was made in 1986 . I still have the original Box , owners manual and test target !
I found a very nice west Germany p226 at 400. Not sure about the year but the pistol in top condition. It got his factory grips and two magazines. The finish is like new.
Great video, very informative. I bought a used P226 Navy from a gun store recently and wish I had seen this first. I still think I got a good solid gun and a decent bargain, but may have been able to get a little better price. Anyway, thanks for an educated approach with lots of common sense tidbits thrown in.

Hey Steve, I have my Sig P226 and it looks nicer than the one you have there, but I baby it! Mine was purchased in 1989 and has West Germany stamped on it! I have purchased many pistols since then, but the P226 is still one of my favorites. I have no paperwork, but it's in excellent condition! I kid you not, not a scratch accept for the top of the barrel! I sleep with it under my pillow!

Great Video and super informative! Recently picked up a West German nickle finished Sig born in 1990 with original mag, Gun is amazing. I paid a good chunk of change for it but no regrets, a truly high quality piece. Time to hit the range! Keep up the good vids.
My first Sig turned out to be an awesome 1995 P226 W. German made example. Came with 3 15 rd. magazines, 1 10 rd(? weird, but whatever) ... original case, manual. It came with Hogue wrap around, rubber, finger grooved grip but it also had the original grip panels in the case (once the sales dude went to the back and grabbed the case) ... it was in the display case at Gander Mountain ... caught my eye because the price was lower than all the other Sigs (didn't register with me at first that it was used) ... I handled it, took it apart (didn't check it over as well as I now know how to do, thank you Steve!) ... anyway, long story short it came home with me ... wasn't until I started researching that I realized what I had. Mine has lived on my nightstand, home office desk for years. I've gone back and forth between the stock grip panels and that Hogue rubber grip ... just watched your 3rd video in your upgrade series so seriously thinking about trying the G10 Hogue grips. Mine still has all the stock springs, should probably change out the recoil & trigger bar spring (not being able to use the stock grips is kind of sad though ...) ... awesome videos on this wonderful pistol Steve! Cheers!
Great info…I’ve got a JJ W German P225 that was built in Kiel that’s in excellent condition too (w/box) though the lid has seen better days, it’s still original. Got original German manuals even. Now it did cost a bit but to me it was worth it, as it’s my only W German Sig.
I've have a west German p226 for 29 years, unfortunately a NYPD version, recently retired and changed back over to original specs, wow what a difference and what a gun
One thing I always look for if I allow someone to handle one of my guns is if they are wearing a ring In the video you have one on each hand which is disqualifying Had a friend ding up a P220 cause I missed his ring
Great video,... Thanks.! I am looking for this particular weapon, what would you say is a good value for this gun today... We all know since pandemic,... The blue book is out the window thanks...
If you have a Sig made in W Germany, and it has the original grips, you can take the grips off and look inside them. The MFG should be stamped inside. I have an old P220 W German, former police in original blue plastic box with the Officers name in Magic Marker written on the box.
Lots of good info, thank you. I have a used 226 that has a West German frame and a USA slide, it appears to be in good shape according to your video..... great video👍 grease the frame rails got it
Ive got a stamped slide p 220 only its got exeter n h on the slide. i nev seen another one, thats why im on youtube to try and find somebody with one. Internal extractor and ive knocked out the pins and removed the firing pin and ev thing is just like the german sigs.

Just curious if anyone knows. I purchased one new in 89 (JJ watermark). Same serial number on all three components. I have only fired one box through it. Been a safe queen. Literally like new. Box and target and even a brochure “for Sig owners only” soliciting for us to send it in to get a free Sig quarterly newsletter. Also four 15 round mags. I must’ve purchased an extra. Smoothest double action and single action I’ve ever fired out of the box. W. German precision. Anyone have a legitimate guesstimate as to its worth?
I have a P220 "made in Germany" with the folded slide and internal ejector that looks to be not shot with triple GXXX XXX serial #s on it that match, frame slide and barrel, its has no inspection marks though. Sig said it was a 1996.its came in the Sig blue box with the 3 Sigarms sss logo with everything except the test target. can anyone tell me what this pistol is? it looks to me that the MADE IN Germany "W" was peened over with the 3 SSS Sig logo. theres a lot of videos on stamping of the Sigs made in Germany and Made in W Germany but nothing seems to be clear on the SIg that I have.
West German in excellent condition? It's on the higher end, but still in the ballpark of reasonable. I wouldn't call it a "good deal," but it's not an unfair price.
@@MrNedsaabdickerson Well I was ready to offer $500 for it yesterday, but alas his nephew got busted with it while just sitting on the curb. CONFISCATED! lol It had a 15 round police only mag and here in Ca you are fucked. Don't know the outcome of the court actions.
That'sthe thing. Why are we looking for vintage guns in a pawn shop? Is it just to own some history? Because we like the thought that went into that gun? your '87 have a difference in the slide style. The the top of the slide serations is 45 degree canted while the '88 is not.
Thank you.
Just ran across this video.very informative.will use in the future.thanks👍
The only things to look at are the barrel hood, the decocker and the frame rails.

Do modern parts fit on this gun, like aftermarket grips, and short reset trigger?

Since W.Germany has long since ceased to exist but there were still many slides stamped with W.Germany, the "W" was simply removed.

So buying an 80% and cutting slide rail slots which cut through anodizing means it's now worthless by this logic
