I have WG P226 that I purchased in the mid-eighties. I just replaced the X-ray sights and now want to upgrade to a SRT. Interestingly, mine has a smooth trigger face. Thanks for the great video!
Great video. Other differences include the slides being manufactured with stamped steel vs billet stainless. This, from other owners, means that parts will need to be replaced over the course of 5k or more rounds vs simply springs in the modern 226.
Had a chance to shoot both the new and the old P226. While the railed version has the advantage for flash light or laser I prefer old school German P226.
A P226 I serial dated to 1990 has a different takedown lever. It doesn't have the raised stud/ledge at the bottom, just horizontal serrations. It's a tiny bit harder to strip because of this.
Wish I had a German 226. I have a MK25 that has night sights and I put the SRT trigger kit in but it could use some better grips (plastic). I also have a 226 Extreme that came factory with night sights, SRT trigger and nice G10 grips and it needs nothing else. My only German SIG is a P220 that looks very much like your German 226. All are excellent high quality pistols that I prefer over my tupperware.
Good video my friend. I recently picked up a West German Two Tone and it shoots softer than my 226 Legion. Definitely my new favorite pistol. Subbed 👍🏻
Please answer this if you can. Will a West German slide fit on a newer P226 frame while using a newer production barrel and newer recoil spring & guide rod ??? So basically could you just take your Mark 25 and toss its original slide to the side and then mate your West German slide to the gun while using all pre-existing parts and run it that way or no?
@@SkullCrushInc Yes thank you. If you could try it out and let me know I would greatly appreciate it because I wanted to see if a Frankenstein build would work.
Any idea if both guns have MIM parts? I'm assuming they do. Just curious. As with all SIG guns...they are "production guns" so....i'd be surprised to find out any of them use no MIm parts and just forged e.g. the P Series Legionguns or the MK25....
My eyes are going too. Sad part of aging! Can you possibly compare triggers...srt especially with single action, and if there's any creep. Trigger is a big part of keeping gun or to letting it go perhaps.
I do not actually own a Sig but I have the GSG 22;r Firefly that used to be the Sig Mosquito and it is an awesome weapon. I would pick Sig over Glock or any gun.
Great Video Man. Very Informative... I Also have a West German P226. And I Agreed 100% They are Priceless.. So Over All which One Do you Prefer Best????
I’ve always found the e2 grips to absolutely essential for the p226. I’m 6’2 and have very large hands and even still I find the stock p226 grips to be obnoxiously thick. Very interesting video though! Guess I want to add a west German model to the collection now..
All about personal preference. Every Sig I've bought with E2 grips, I've removed them so find them very unessential. Much prefer the full size grips and yes I have large hands.

I bought a Sig P226 Mk25 last month and I love it.
It’s a very accurate piece.
One of the best videos I've seen. Straight to the point and very comprehensive.

You're welcome. Thanks for watching!

At a glance, I would have thought they were the same thing. Nice informative, detailed video.
Thanks Scott!
Very interesting and well done production values. I'm a big Sig fan, but was not familiar with these models. Good shooting!
Thanks Mike!

Same here.

I’ve owned one since 1994 it’s been a gem 💎. Not sure when it was made but it’s definitely over 30 years old. Department issued.
Same here.
Very thorough video, well done!
Thank you!

I use Hogue G10 grips on my other P226’s: amzn.to/3rY0ON6

Thank you and congratulations on your West German P226!

I don’t know. Never tried it. I might take a look next time I take them out.

@CrankyFranky Plenty of info online that says it will fit. The barrels look identical as far as I can tell.
@@SkullCrushInc Oh okay, thanks for the help man I appreciate it.
They are technically interchangeable
Absolutely no complaints about our 226’s!

I think it's the srt did the trick on the accuracy and precision for WG version.
I think so too.

Great video great information. Great cuts. Better than some overproduced videos where you’re looking at some pretty boy trying to look cool shooting.
Thanks @Bigkwan1220
Great video thanks for sharing!
The German model has a slightly bigger trigger guard also the front is more angled.
Great Video Man.
Very Informative...

West German
Need to find a west german one.
Yes, you really do.
Had mine since the mid-80s and still have it.
I will always have it!
great great video!
So all the magazines are interchangeable between both guns?
Yes.
Excellent video
The old one looks better in my opinion
I like them both.

You should've passed on the MK25 and gone with the P226 Elite.
Why is that! I'm currently looking at the mk25...?
I use these G10 Grips on my other P226: amzn.to/3rY0ON6
👌👍
My UID sticker fell off.
God compares Mk 25 is better than German 226
Both of these pistols do the job. There is not much to a 9mm round. They both do everything my Glock 17 and Glock 19 do as well
I have a mk25, but it has always been said that the German gun is more precise, it may be a matter of coatings of mk25.
