- This week my Vlog is an exploration in line in my sketchbook. I've been updating one of the activities in my stARTs course and it's got me really interested in a couple of things - big shapes and delicate lines. I've always been a sucker for these two, but I feel like I'm going BIGGER with the shapes and more explorative with the line.

I love how it keeps evolving and changing
Isnt it interesting, that we do, have personal, significant, identifiable marks that we make Judy? I always recognize yours..and without intention, I always "enter as well as exit" my compositions in a certain manner! Its very interesting to me! Wish we had more than one life to live! Id like to start over and do nothing else, but mark making..every day, all day! It frees my mind..and I find my "exhales", are more complete!

I go into a trance watching these sketchbook demos Judy. Love the lines/big shape exploration. It really creates a whole new character/dimension ..popped out and surprised me which I think is the best thing about these processes. Can’t wait to try

this drawing is so beatiful and i think Judy would relyy like scrach of things witch you make by drawing with wax crayons or drawing something then rubing wax all over it and painting black iver it then when it drys you can scratch it off :]

for what does the lines work, if it will be covered then?
This is how the surface is built up - it results in wonderful surprises. If you don't cover anything up the painting will be very 'thin' and have no history to the surface.

What is the name of the tool you are using to paint up to it and make straight lines? Can I get it on Amazon?
It's a painters straight edge - available at a hardware store or painters supply shop

I really enjoyed watching this--until you came in with the big black at the end, and then I wanted to scream, stop! I noticed this in the latest two videos. In the other one, the collage, you came in with a lot of black and pulled it back on the right side of the page and revealed color and collage. In this one you put the black on the left side and it highlighted the interesting combinations of orange and white lines you had just made on the right side, and you made marks in the black with scratching, but I personally, still, wish you had left some of the black off the left side. However, then you would not have got your big shapes. I hope you don't mind such a long discussion.
