If you’ve had like an egg custard, I’d say that’s the closest thing to an egg tart. Just think of egg custard on a flaky pastry. We have loads of it in Malaysia as well. It. Is. Good. Probably really unhealthy HAHA
The one they said tasted like tea looked a lot like pumpkin pie. I suspect pumpkin pie is a variation of an egg tart - just with pumpkin and spice added in lieu of additional egg. They said the tarts were sweet, so I’m guessing eggs, cream, sugar, maybe brown sugar, and maybe vanilla baked into the pastry. This is just a guess, but years of baking leads me to think it’s something very close to that. The pastry looks like puff pastry or croissant pastry - very thin, rolled out with butter between the layers.

“鴛鴦 - Yuenyeung”which is known as Coffee & Tea was originated from Hong Kong Traditional style “大排檔 - Dai Pai Dong” open air Food Stalls. It isn't from Macau, but because many people from Hong Kong also live and have relatives in Macau, so we have similar styles of Food mixed in the local culture. Same with the Egg Tarts, there is Hong Kong style Egg Tarts and there is Portuguese style Egg Tarts. Both are Famous as the Best Egg Tarts in the World. Hong Kong style is a mix of multilayers of Pastry and the Biscuits like Crust on the Egg Tarts. Josh and Ollie also needs to try the Hong Kong version as well.

This is my one favourite treat! I’m soooo jealous, The satisfaction of biting into the warm - not too sweet custard through all the flaky layers…bliss
I loved watching this video! I was not aware there was more than 1 egg tart! This inspires me to drive to one of our many Chinese or Vietnamese bakeries and buy me some egg tarts! I'm going to share this video! I enjoyed this video guys! ☮️💕
As a macanese, it feels great seeing you guys review some local delicacies from Macau.❤
I love that Ollie is wearing his Bucees hat!! Yay!🎉😊
As a Portuguese living in london I'd say out of the Portuguese shops, Tesco is the place where you can find the closest to the original "pastel de nata" , they're fairly good.
Interesting. I do like theirs. They aren’t always cooked consistently though and you have to be careful not to buy day old ones!
@@nicolad8822air fry them for a quick minute and add cinnamon! You are welcome! 😘
OMG LOOKS SOO BUSSIN'
Now I want those Eggtarts ☺️
A delightful episode and I can't help but be entertained (that's the point...right) when Josh is laughing so hard at something Ollie's said, that he snorts. That is seriously such a funny laugh cuz you know the person is cracking-up. Great that these two can still bring it. Thank you.
You know what's a better combination than tea and biscuits ? Tea and a new Jolly episode !
Tee Hee 😁
Omg ! Egg tarts are my fave , and these look delicious yum
Am I the only one who literally laughs out loud when Josh takes food from Ollie's hands while he's still initially reacting? 🤣 These guys crack me up!
Wow so exciting to see Macau here! Truly best egg tarts 😭
It is good that Lord Stows is available in the ph. Hopefully Jolly goes here to make viral vids. I'm definitely sure the Jollybeans in the ph would be happy and ecstatic to meet you guys in the flesh.
I love Jolly…Josh and Ollie are awesome and always love their outlook on things. I would love to try an egg tart and these look delicious 🤗🤗
I warched the David Beckham pork bbq vid just today morning, and the tarts at the end were lord stow's, and now it's evening and you're filming there again, coincidences. But also very excited to see this!
Holy Moly!!! Can't believe that you introduced the 2 most delicious egg tart in Macau. M gonna grab one tmr as my breakfast lol
I felt so happy when Ollie won the rock paper scissors duel there, idk why but it feels like it was fated lmao
I just love watching you, Josh & Ollie. You both make me laugh until I cry. I can't get enough of your videos. Much love from Colorado!
you should come to portugal, and taste the portuguese tarts in belém, it's a secret recipe from 1800s
I think they have been to Portugal and tried the pasteis de Belem as Ollie mentioned at 2:02 that “it is eggier than the pastel de Nata.”
@@OfTheClock might not be pasteis de belém, there are a lot of places here that sell pasteis de nata, but nothing compares with that, in my opinion
Ollie’s jokes get me everytime!!! Does he come up with these all on the spot?? So freaking funny!!! 🤣
Never a dull moment on a Jolly Friday! 🥳 Love egg tarts and they all looked and sounded ahmazing! 🤤🤤
“Safe trip to wherever” is such a cool way to say goodbye! 1:39
as a hongkonger seeing you guys try milk tea- coffee (yuenyeung) was so amazing to me LMFAO
Love the fact that Ollie is wearing the Buc-ee's hat - love from Texas!!!
Ollie’s the goat of humbleness
Other than egg tarts, Macao is also famous for Macanese food, which is a combination of Portuguese n Chinese dishes! Love from Macao🫶🏻🇲🇴
Come to Malaysia and you will experience a whole new world (insert a whole new world song) of foods and tastes
I love when Josh was talking about how good the milk tea coffee was and Ollie‘s face was just not loving it and it’s like Josh was trying to convince Ollie how good it was while his face was not computing what the words were.
I love it Josh and Ollie! Great video, and you guys are also awesome brining people experiences with food! You guys are so charismatic and so funny
Yin Yang & egg tarts ~ Asian experience! You should try the Hong Kong diner pineapple bun 😊
It’s so good to see you having fun again. It’s very obvious by the end Ollie’s back is hurting him. Take it easy now and you’ll be glad you did years from now. Love to you both.
I just love you two, and you so perfectly play off of each other, it is so enjoyable to watch, thank you
The pastry crunch ASMR has me wanting to fly to Macau immediately!!
Me too. Egg tarts are so delicious 💝
As a new egg tart conisuire myself, I found (of all places) KFC in Thailand, as having the best egg tart of the limited selection in this country. A quick Google search reaffirmed my taste buds were in check. Now to hunt them down in America upon my return.
Great video and channel, your humor is my kind of crazy.
You know you have made it when you can just casually mention what David Beckham recommended to you personally.
my number one is also Lord Stowe's egg tarts
number two.. is Taiwan Kitchen's smores egg tarts, albeit they're really sweet, and indulgent, and I would only have them if I 'deserve' to.
I loved this episode because I love egg tarts!
Now i'm drooling some portuguese egg tart in the middle of the night and my stomach growled. Thanks guys 🥲👍
I missed having Margaret's Portuguese egg tart down the alley in Macau! It's one of the best egg tart I've ever had.
In Australia these are known as Portuguese tarts. I find the eggy taste overwhelming, which is funny, as I absolutely love custard. I think the ones that were a bit sweet and less eggy would be my favourite. I need to plan a trip to Macau to find out 😅
That name of "Portuguese Tart" literally is translated from Cantonese to English.
My Hokkien grandfather, who died when I was young (and whom I remember little of), loved milk tea coffee (cham, in our dialect). Every time I have it, I feel connected to him and all my Hokkien ancestors.
