It’s so nice to see Street Food get Michelin Recommended. They’re a major part of cuisine. I can’t imagine life without it.
There are a handful of street food places with stars but the ones in this video just appear in the Guide without any commendation - the plaques would show a star/s or a Bib if they had those awards.
Truly! Also exhibits the coutries origins and culture!
exactly what I was thinking @@mosmarb there is no way this street food have a michelin star, not even one.
TISS Fam😁
They’re not stars. They’re just recommended spots. Not starred
I love how Luke doesn't really react, if he likes something you just see him smile (which is a very British reaction, lol)
9:16 I’m Indonesian and that’s not degrading at all. Because our fresh stir fry noodles got influenced by Chinese Cuisine. We also have those fried wonton as well, but we dip it into sweet chili sauce. Come to Jakarta as well! Try bakmie, mie ayam and fresh mie goreng. Also try fried wonton and meatballs 👍🏻.
They went to Indonesia before with Gabie
He worried offending the restaurant or the people of Macau, not Indomie fans, LOL
Indomie owner is an Indonesian Chinese. Indomie is a beautiful marriage of both flavours of indonesia with chinese cuisine.
@@punkressph1 yeah but they’re landed in Bali. Different city got a totally different culture & cuisine here. We got like hundreds tribes and Bali is like the only hindu-influenced region left in Indonesia. Meanwhile Jakarta is like our melting pot of culture since it’s the capital, hence some of the peranakan (indo-chinese) cuisine in there.

"The Kardashian of sandwiches. It's really really famous but no one knows why" 😁😁😁
The only thing I like about the Kardashian is their Armeniam.😅
Don't forget, very dry 😅
Love it!
Josh and Ollie should definitely release a guide book for foodies chronicling all the places they've eaten at over the years. I would definitely buy that for myself, and some extras for gifts for fellow foodie-friends.
I would deffo buy this book!
Yes. This.
Yes! A book is a fantastic idea! And, include pictures of the sights and restaurants (and, of course Jolly too!)
This! 🙌 'Cause some places they visit, I wish they would list in the description box for those that would like to add to their future travel itinerary 😄
진짜 항상 바라던거야
4:15 - Ollie’s comments are a HUGE reason I love this channel 🤣 never compared a sandwich to the Kardashians
"they're really really famous but no one knows why" 🤣🤣
@@lovetrustandpixiedust😂😂😂
Ollie is hilarious. "It tastes like a memory foam pillow." You're going to have Durian coming out of your pores for a while. I'm surprised you've never had fried wontons. They are so good.
Indonesian cinemas actually sell those fried wontons as a cinema snack Ollie!! its also really good. you should try
So lucky!
Which cinema specifically cuz its not in XXI and im am indonesian
@@nothernstorm5138I don’t know where you live in Indonesia but at least you can find it in Jakarta’s XXI. It’s called mini wonton

4:58 As a Malaysian Chinese, who speaks multiple Chinese dialects, I am genuinely impressed by Josh's ability to communicate with sellers with Cantonese. I am literally overwhelmed.
I believe his grandmother is Chinese and he lived in China for a bit... I could be wrong, but I think that's correct.
he is quarter chinese and had lived in china
Correct. Still impressive af since he doesn’t have much time to speak Chinese and Cantonese is a lesser used dialect than mandarin
Same here, Malaysian Chinese, and the fact that he speaks Cantonese makes me feel like he's one of us at this rate
All he said is thank you 😂 you give him too much credit. I am Chinese but learnt German from scratch, the Germans won’t be so impressed as to kowtow to a Chinese man when I say danke 😂😂😂
As a Singaporean Chinese, it's nice to see people eating Chinese food and it warms my heart! I also like the reactions towards the Durian ice cream 🤣 because in Singapore, we have durians being locally sold. Your team should come to Singapore as we too have Michelin food you can try!!😁
I am too Singaporean Chinese though my mom is native Macanese so these vids are especially heartwarming
I was shocked when my Korean uncle worked in Singapore briefly and he said there was nothing to eat! I would have been in the hawker centers every day!
Visited Singapore in 2019. Incredible country and so many different choices for food!
They have visited Singapore before! They even tried the durian mcflurry right before boarding the plane and boy did they regret it! It's hilarious
@@fangjiunnewe3634Yes, on Gabie's channel. They also tried out Macs' Buttermilk Crispy Chicken burger which is my fav Macs order lol
As a Macauese, Josh says those Cantonese words in the video is very accurately 👍🏻 hope you guys enjoy the time in Macau. Please come again!❤
That's exactly what I thought! I know he speaks Mandarin, but from this video, I would think that he also speaks Cantonese fluently!
but no Portuguese custard tarts, i loved them while there.
As a Hongkonger, I’m so happy to see how you guys enjoy the food. Hong Kong also has most of the food you tried in this video and has amazing food so please visit HK next time!!!
VOUCH id really like them see them try cha chan tang stuff
yess id love for them to come to HK! i grew up eating all the foods they had in this video in HK and I really want them to try some of our staples.
like going to Australian Diary and get scolded by the staff
@@fatdoi003 i remember solo travelled to hk in 2018 and eat in australian dairy..the staff nice to me but the service is fast and rough (hard clanking plate everywhere) and in my subconscious i just had to eat fast to prevent bad things.
would love to see them rushing to the dim sum push carts@@gomichu
I love that Luke trying things has become a constant on this Channel! We need more Luke content!
Yes please
Its so nice that you guys always include luke too considering its his first time travelling to a lot of these countries. He’s such a warm person and amazing videographer!
As a Macanese I’m really grateful that you guys enjoyed this much~ It’s a great city!
Same here! This made me miss the food back home in Macau so muchh
Same here but in still in macau
Very interesting to see a guy from England, who speaks fluent Korean, wearing a New York Mets hat, eating Asian food in Macao! Just Wow!
Or is that a Yankees hat, they are so similar!?
New York Yankees
He was speaking fluent Cantonese too in this video which surprised me. I know he’d studied over there before but I assumed it’d just be mandarin. ❤
@@ezura4760 he's a quarter chinese fyi
As a Yankees fan, seeing you call it a Mets hat hurts my heart in so many ways 💔😩😖
I like how the noodle place hostess saw them filming and brought out a bit of everything. That's great marketing 👍
Luke's "That is horrible face" actually rivals Ollie's 🤣🤣🤣 Great video guys and team! Thanks for sharing! ❤
josh your pronunciation of Char Siu Bao is so accurate, makes me happy 🥺❤️
He is half Chinese
Quarter chinese surely?
@@Rebe8d89AH isn't his dad full Chinese?
@@Highostrich his dad is half Chinese. That’s why his last name is carrot.
and siu mai as well lol
Glad to see you enjoying Tsingtao with delicious food in Macau! 🍻
Really interesting to see that you guys (especially having lived in China) have never seen fried won tons - for some reason EVERY chinese place here in Austria has them, usually with a dark, garlic sauce.
Yeah interesting, we have them in Australia too, often served with mayo!
I was also surprised they haven't seen them before. We have fried wontons in America too. The kind of sauce you get really varies by restaurant. The most usual sauces are either sweet and sour sauce or a soy-based sauce with garlic or chilies. Sometimes they also come with hot mustard.
Seems like it's one of those variants of Chinese food that are more common outside of China and more catered to a western palate. Kind of like how general tao chicken is so common in Chinese restaurants fast food places in North America but isn't seen as often in China
We have them here in america too, normally with a red chili sauce or an orange "duck sauce" or even that same sweet & sour sauce they use on chicken, just depending on the place. I was actually surprised, because the sit-down place they went to looks SO MUCH like chinese places near where I grew up, and many of the dishes were familiar as well. I always thought chinese-american food was just sort made up here, the way italian-american food is (you can tell i'm italian lol), but I guess there are some similarities after all! I'd really like to try the real versions of dishes I'm familiar with...
Only Josh has lived as an exchange student in *Korea* and none of the others, not Ollie either has lived outside of UK, only gone on trips with Ollie from this- and Korean Englishman channels of theirs. Ollie has tho learned some of the korean language.
As a Chinese person I’m so happy seeing them in Macau and enjoying the culture, I know Josh is part Chinese but it’s so refreshing and also him speaking Cantonese 😭🫶🏻✨
thats the first thing i said to myself when he thanked the locals in cantonese.
I hope they don't use sewer oil in that part of china

The Macao Tourism Board has done a great job - I’d never even thought about Macao, and now I’m obsessed.
Never has Luke looked more like Hide the Pain Harold than when he had to taste that Durian ice cream 😂
The crispy wontons sound amazing! these guys are so genuine and funny.. please stay this way.. you don’t need sponsors to make money people love you guys enough already. ❤❤❤
so satisfying to hear josh speaking in my mother tongue🤣 “ng going saiii” please come to hong kong!!🇭🇰 we have loadssss of amazing food i’d volunteer as guide 😂😂
Guys! The cinematography in this is just *chefs kiss* ! Such a joy to watch.
As a Cantonese I am sooo happy to see this on Jolly!! but I have to say the durine ice cream must be so good since the more durine inside, the creamier, the stronger the aroma, the better!
Luke has definitely become the highlight of each vid for me because his reactions are absolutely hilarious and so genuinely sincere 😂😂
Yes! I love Luke ❤❤❤❤
Luke trying the ice cream was like a baby licking a lemon for the first time 😂
0:59 i will never get tired of Ollie’s comments 😂
Ollie: "it's like the Kardashians, they're famous, but no-one knows why."
"EMOTIONAL DAMAGE!"
I think he's forgetting the video Kim made to make her famous 😂😂
Seeing Ollie’s Hamish and Andy T-shirt makes me unbelievably happy to know that he is a Hamish and Andy fan. Anyone who knows Ollie’s sense of humour, and Hamish and Andy’s sense of humour, knows that it makes so much sense. That’d be a dream collab for me for sure
You guys are known for your food content, but I have never been SO jealous of you guys. Adding Macau to the bucket list with a star
Josh’s Cantonese pronunciation was spot on👍🏼👏🏼
New viewer just been binge watching your videos! So hilarious and entertaining the way you guys aren’t afraid to try new foods👍
Deep fried crispy soup wontons are a staple on every Chinese takeaway menu in Canada. Are those not a thing in Britain??
im viet/chinese so i grew up with almost all of these foods and i absolutely love people's first reactions to durian😂 (i love durian)
The foods look delicious, and I appreciate Josh’s effort to speak a few words of Cantonese 👍👍
Why are they giving me Chris and Martin vibes from Zoboomafoo, except from teaching us about animals, they're doing it with food 😂
They are about to open a closet and things fall out on them
I love how y’all started the Jolly tasting journey on jellied eels and fish and chips and now you’re making the Michelin star rounds
I grew up in the San Francisco bay area eating amazing Chinese food in Oakland's Chinatown, and had many, many fried wontons. I always figured that was a California thing, kind of like fortune cookies. Guess not. In any case, yeah, they're delicious.
Underrated thing to try, wingstop. They got solid chicken and great sauces, fries are also good
I have to go to Macao to shoot a video. After yours video, i have to goooooooo. It looks amazing. i am taking you as an example guys
Now i want to be a cameraman for Jolly 🤣
I was curious as to how you guys were able to communicate with the sellers about your orders.. until I heard Josh enunciate "Thank you so/very much" almost flawlessly in Cantonese @04:58 and all my doubts were quelled.
Yeah he lived in China and a fairly close relative is/was Chinese. A grandparent iirc
yea that and the fact that they have a guide? lol
Yeah it's very impressive 👏 😊 I'm glad someone commented about him having Chinese heritage, I was sure his grandmother is or was. Pretty sure the only way I'd ever be able to deliver a proper pronunciation in Cantonese is if Josh or maybe Xiaoma were there telling me exactly what to say
Isn’t josh half chinese? His dad is chinese if I remember correctly
@@orangemilk3a quarter chinese i believe. I think his dad is half?
😄😄😄😄 Ollie's eyes when he laughs. So cute.
I think my favorite thing about the JOLLY boys is watching them share the experience with the crew. I grew up watching the Food Channel and any time there was a similar travel show, I always wondered; are the camera men and sound people getting to try this? It can't just be the host, right? And with JOLLY I know it isn't! They're always panning out to show the crew and inviting them to try the same bites, no matter how fancy what they're eating is, and it fills me with joy. It's like watching a group of friends experience the world together and that's amazing.
It was funny watching some of their original videos recently and Luke is in some of them. His increase in screen time has been awesome, he brings another fun element.
LOL, the durian. Poor Luke looked like a toddler wanting to spit it out. That face. Thanks for taking us through the street markets 🥰
As indonesian, I was laughing so hard when josh compared the noodle with indomie😅😅
How can it be posible that maybe indomie took the recipe from that restaurant🤭🤭🤣🤣🤣🤣
In the states we have fried won tons on our Chinese food takeout menus. Filled with cream cheese or crab, cream cheese with green onion or filled with meat just like what your eating. I love them so much. We dip them in a sweet and sour sauce that is usually made with pineapple juice.
Your also supposed to pull them apart and eat in two bites.
I love the way Luke's eyes light up when he likes the food! You know before he ever says a word that it's good.
If a restaurant is on the michelin ‘guide’ is highly highly different than a restaurant having a Michelin star
Love these guys! The fried wontons were one of the few foods I recognized. Very popular in the U.S. but then we are known for frying almost anything.
I would recommend finding some what they would call baw la bou (pineapple bun) or baw la bing (pineapple ice drink) they are very popular in that area. Very sweet and very popular with tourists.
Their editors are doing such a good job. The music, sound effects, slow mos, cuts, everything is beautiful. I'm starting to gravitate from Good Mythical Morning -- which I watched religiously -- to Jolly, cus frankly, although both have essentially become food channels, I see so much more genuine passion and growth coming from these guys. Love 'em.
Okay, you guys have officially convinced me to go to Macau for my honeymoon! Excited to try all of those foods🤤
I am from Macau and it is amazing seeing you guys eat the street foods there
Okay guys I am officially addicted to your videos. CHEERS!
Not exactly from Macau, but as loyal jolly fan who’s from Hong Kong, I’m so happy to see you guys enjoying the local food that I love and chowing down everything! I’m so glad and hopefully one day there will be a video of jolly visiting Hong Kong and trying all the local street food there :)
The 2 guys that eat food all the time but act like they've never eaten food😅
Are those real or fake Michelin stickers! Seems a bit strange that they are just everywhere. Didn’t know they were given out like candies on Halloween!
They probably have a shop that sells the Michelin stickers!
I love that you ate char siu (we called that siopao) and siomai without sauce haha we need sauce when we eat that here in the Philippines. It’s a must
Char siu is different from Siopao. Char siu is the Cantonese bbq.
I love how Luke just smiles every time he eats something he really likes. It makes me smile too. Also, you guys have never seen fried wontons before? They're one of my favorite things to get here in the States
Deep fried wontons are literally the best fried Chinese food
they should have dip it into that stocking orange sauce
I love the fact that almost every sign over there has Portuguese written on it, and I can read it all cuz I speak Brazilian Portuguese ♥
(Yes, I know Macau speaks Portuguese as well)
Have you ever made a video where Josh DOESN’T say it’s the best he’s ever tasted?! 🤣
seeing Josh and Ollie in the noodle shop i always go to in macau is mind blowing for me. but as a durian fanatic, i wasnt a fan of the durian ice cream they had either lmaoooo
As a Hong Kong people, you should definitely come to Hong Kong!!!! We have loads of good food like pineapple bun( bolo bao) and there are places to eat dimsum everywhere!!!
That cabbage leaf and rice with meat dim sum reminds me of Polish Gołąbki
I hope Jolly will visit the Philippines and have Erwan from Featr guide them. Philippines is more than just adobo and Jollibee. We have so much variety of cuisines because of how diverse our culture is. They should do a road trip from Luzon to Mindanao. It will be awesome.
If our Department of Tourism invites these guys on a tour here, I'd be absolutely gobsmacked.
Ps. Josh and Gabie already went here on a Cebu Pacific promotional ad for Koreans seven years ago.
@michaelkevinmirasol8256 I remember the Cebu Pacific one. Why would you be livid though..isn't that a good thing for them to visit the Philippines?
@@kei9562 sorry for the wrong term, gobsmacked would be more appropriate then
@michaelkevinmirasol8256 gotcha 👌😁 I would, too. If Erwan is too busy, Bogart the Explorer would be my next recommendation because his humor is really good.
11:44 Ollie is on to something here. In the US, some restaurants put poke on fried wonton skins instead of tortilla chips. The light and airy wontons are delicious
Also, careful with the iced tea. It's addicting, but also has as much caffeine (if not more) than coffee
Memory foam pillow???? Too funny! The sticky rice things made my mouth water. Love milk tea.
Bringing in your camera guy is genius. His reaction to the Durian ice cream had me snorting!
The Ramen looked like heaven. Great vid
I used to like in HK & Macau....god, i miss the food SO much!!!
As a Singaporean whose parents have Macau as their regular holiday spot, the way I yelled when I recognised the street you guys were on, and the food that you're eating 😩😩 this really makes me want to go back to macau.... but have you guys tried the crab congee on that street????????
It's great that you guys tried all that food, but some of those places were /recommended/ by Michelin but didn't have Michelin stars.
Your British and you've never had crispy won tons that's shocked me for some reason 😂. Maybe it's just where I live but I'm from Lincolnshire area UK and our Chinese take aways all do pork or vegetable crispy won tons and they are super delicious. You guys are so funny I've literally binge watched most of your videos lol.
With sweet and sour sauce
I was going to ask how you've NEVER had a fried wonton before, but then I remembered you're British...
You’ve never been to a British city then?
Wow the food looks amazing and now I am so hungry 😊 Josh and Ollie are the best people to hang around with 😂❤🤗
The Duriun section was particularly hysterical LOL
I love durian!
I love that at 8:40 you're eating food that is found in the USA that non-Chinese foreigners and ignorant snobs say isn't Chinese food. 😅😂😂 *
I don't know if my local place is as good, but it's mostly street food.
*it's a place where the university students from China eat for a taste of home.
You guys actually have to go to Indonesia and see how many durian and durian ice cream seller on the sides of the road.
Guess what, Josh and Ollie, deep fried wontons are very common street snacks in Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand.
Honest question. Do people fake a Michelin recommendation? Looks like you could just print one off to trick tourists.
Durians is the king of the fruits...really delicious, i love it😂
I was having a fever and couldn't resist to ear durian when my sister bought them, which is not a good decision. Hahah. My fever got worse😅
@@millasuini8307 worth it tho lol
Yes yes yes. I love it so much that I used to actually just eat 3 of them (the fruit, not the fruit meat) when I was a little kid. Ofc, now I'm almost 30 , can't eat them that much anymore 😅
One thing i wish you guys would have tried from that exact street of durian ice cream is MANGO MOCHI ❤ there’s a shop there that sells super delicious ones with huge mango piece inside 😊 always a delight ❤

I just have to say the Michelen man looks like the Oros man. Its a verh popular drink in Sout Africa
Only Ollie could associate biting into an inanimate object with delicious food! 😆
It was a given to me that Josh speaks Mandarin because he's quarter-Chinese and attended international school in China, but I was pleasantly surprised that he could speak Cantonese too! It's not easy learning Chinese dialects, I'm Malaysian and the best I could do is Mandarin & Cantonese but somehow I could never catch on to Hokkien and Teo Chew dialects (which are also so common in Malaysia) 🤣
I can curse in hokkien though 😂

heh heh heh hehhh I had a lovely frozen durian shake once, and while it was freezing cold, it was so creamy and sweet, but as we drove home and it heated up inside us, the smell became insane. It just made it funnier and funnier. A few weeks later we came home from a week away, and there was some rotting wet cat food in the bottom of our trash can, and it smelled like dead bodies, or just like that shake! heheheh
So glad to watch this episode! I was going to say make sure you also try all the street foods and crabs :) and so blessed as a HongKonger to hear Josh speaking Cantonese!
If the whole idea is to boost Macau tourism. Heck yeah. I'm in, looking for possible flights!
Thank you for exploring this topic!
I haven't come across many videos that delve into Michelin-starred street eats, so I was thrilled to learn that there are a few, more accessible options on the list (I.e. no need to reserve a table 3 years in advance, and/or re-mortgage your home to taste them 😋)
Also, It's wonderful to see that the guide is willing to look outside the box and highlight dishes with unconventional flavours. Sure, some items may not suit everyone's palate, but if it meets Michelin's high-standards, it's definitely worthy of a nod 😊
max would love the architecture
