I was raised catholic in Germany and I really don't believe that men and women can be best friends in a purely platonic sense (except if they are both homosexual or high up in age). Exactly because there is barely any reason to not be in some kind of a relationship if you understand each other so well. A genuine friendship with love, similiar interests and outlooks on life and anything in it, is the perfect foundation for a long-lasting relationship. But I'd like to get some opinions on that!
Yeah I agree with a lot of that. It is easier to be friends with the opposite sex when you are also close with their husband or if there is a big age gap, but if you are both single and enjoy being around each other it can be hard sometimes.
@@christrevival8319 I thought this was about being "best" friends. If it's just about being friends, meaning being part of the same friend group, sending texts and going to each others festivities then yeah, sure men and women can be friends.
@@Pclub4ever True the context was more best friends. I fully agree with you best friends is tough, but friendships within a friend group are manageable and we should surround ourself with diverse community.
