Rest in peace Phos. Your journey was long, hard and lonely. You deserve your rest. The latest panel of chapter 107 is probably the "real" land of the lustrous.
the fact that Phos' final thoughts are still about the gems and sensei despite everything that happened... all they ever wanted was to be appreciated or "needed". Ties in very nice with your video on forgiveness
To think that finally after everyone they loved abandoned them, left them to suffer an enternity of pain and loneliness the best gift they could ever receive is pure anhiliation. An end of all things. And then maybe Phos can start anew.
Y'know I thought I'd be crying over Phos passing on especially with such a gentle end to their journey, but currently I'm filled with such an overwhelming sense of relief and being happy for phos' sake. Really could'nt have pictured a better conclusion to their story. Its looking like 108 will be the final knot to tie and I genuinely can't wait. (I'm really hoping all the rocks and Brongo sing for Phos like they did in ch 100)
A few years ago when i got into Houseki no kuni and as mineral fan i wanted to get a piece of Phosphophillyte and because i am broke (lol) i only managed to acquire the tiniest piece. Back then i was honestly kinda sad because of how small the piece was, (online pics made it seem way bigger), but it grew on me and it became one of my favourites. With this chapter, it has become all the more precious.
I have been crying for 10 minutes straight after reading it, not to mention the aftermath. I was in pieces like Phos, the only word left in my heart - "Finally..." My poor child, pure sweetest soul, uwaaaah ( ; Д ; )
dammit. i never caught that older brother/younger brother change. and now im tearing up all over again. HnK belongs up there with some great works. its just so well done, so consistent. its really something else.
All those little details that you mentioned. Like the change in writing or the words phos said that i would never discovee on my own just made this story so much special for me. Thanks for this video. I'm gonna cry a little more now
I literally just finished that chapter and I’m crying rn😭 Now I’m sad and depressed again😞. Now I want a lil series of brongo and the rock’s raising phos
Great video! It really helped me understand more of what the chapter was trying to convey, and a little bit more of the symbolism from earlier chapters lol, again, great video!!
The lunarians said they couldn't save any gem dust that was lighter than a 3 on the hardness scale. Most of it flew away and was scattered in space that dust must have ended up spreading life on the other planets farther away from the sun on the flower gems. Now the human's flesh, bones and spirit can come back together.
Well rip Phos and all my crazy theories. I think Phos is permanently gone at this point. The crystal becoming hot, shattering and loosing its colour as their body becomes nothing is just great. I am both super happy and depressed at the same time. My prediction for 108 is we don't get to see Phos reborn one of the ideas of Buddhism is enlightenment breaks the cycle of death and rebirth. By that logic you could any ending where a part of Phos is reborn would be a bad ending as it would show they failed to reach enlightenment. It sucks but thematically any ending that shows us Phos and the gems reborn would be a gut punch as it would mean the whole story had been for nothing. Edit: I think them crash landing on another planet not the one intended by the lunarians is a nice touch. It symbolises they are finally free from Aechmea's schemes. No matter how much I overanalyse this series I will always hate Aechmea.
@@stunnagirl8465 Buddhists believe in an endless cycle of death and rebirth. Importantly this cycle is viewed as something to break free of. When someone achieve enlightenment they break free of the cycle and are not reborn again. If Phos was reborn it would mean they failed to achieve enlightenment completely undermining the arc of them becoming god Phos. It wouldn't ruin the story but it would imply that after everything Phos had been through they had ultimately failed to reach enlightenment.

@@stunnagirl8465This entire a story about is about enlightenment and if they reincarnate back into the cycle of samsara that means they didn’t actually get enlightenment and where still clinging to desire which Buddhism directly states is something you need to let go to escape the cycle of life and death.
At last, Phos has achieved peace, despite being the one who needed it the most. After everything that happened, this is such a good ending for Phos. I'm happy it ended this way. There's nothing, but there is bliss in nothingness, especially after suffering for millenia then existing for billions of years until the Sun dies.
@@rizacreatorYT I hope Phos does find that hope they were looking for. Phos like a lot character tropes sacrificed themselves in order for others to find it before Phos does in a sense Phos is like a star. Even the original composition of the rock of phosphophyllite. In the panels we see Phos shine like a star. As the most recent/old example is Paul Atreides from Dune series. Everyone follow Paul as a north star or someone who creates his own future even though it is foretold that Paul can't change it which is very interesting that Paul's character inspired a lot of characters in modern media.
Hey I was just wondering, there seems to be a few unanswered questions that can’t be explained in one chapter, do you think a new series will start with brongo on this new planet?
Can you please be live again And can you please do land of the lustrous o c Hunger games please do not forget my 2 characters please put them in there as well thank you for reading this

Such a happy story
This story has left me empty. I love that
Well put

That would be sweet
The difference in the Japanese for the two lights and those last single panel pages even though it looks identical in the English. Awesome insight!
Resident Japanese Nerd title achieved
It makes sense in either language since part of the nature of light is that it weighs nothing.

I binged this manga, and I was not prepared at all, I needed a day to recover.
Understandable
So glad I found this Chanel, even after the manga’s finale. So happy to see so many people liking this beautiful masterpiece

I dont really get it . If phos was reborn how would it throw away all the 107 chaoters of progress and buildup weve had so far?

Ooo yeah, I like what you said in your edit
The title is amazing! great vid!
Thank you, I tried
I CANNOT WAIT IF PHOS SPEAKS OFI MY GOD I WANT TO KNOW THEIR FIRST WORDS!!!
SAME!!
lovely video! Can't wait for chapter 108!
Same!
What if these new „flower gems” (idk how to call them) were the original gems sent by lunarians after they lost their bodies..
Yeah, could be

Maybe in the next chapter phos would say, “I have found my paradise.” Somewhere around the lines where Phos must have to say, “paradise” and “eternal”
It will be a good ending
Ichikawa can't mess this up

maybe the land of the lustrous is the friends we made along the way
I think Phos the Phosphophyllite gem is still alive (the tiny shards)
I hope, but idk
2:00 saying how small Phos can get, and Ichikawa taking that as a challenge Xd
I feel like going into Shintoism and budism so I could understand this master piece into a deeper level 🙏
Phosphophyllite
Yes
