Its Shuggie Otis who released the original… at only 17yo in 1971. Great tune… for sure well played and rearranged by B.Johnson and Q.Jones…
I can't believe I get to see my favorite band sing my favorite song of all times in my life! Thanks again!
absolutely love this song, and was beyond pumped that they covered it.
Finally. My favorite song this summer.

Watch Page's face at 1:22 when Trey hits that note.

Man, if Trey could carry a tune this band would be great. Go ahead and ratio me, you know its true.
cell phone recordings are not necessary or appreciated
Made a total pigs ear of that mid 8…….
Good, but I've heard better by Yuna, The Brothers Johnson and of course, Shuggie Otis, who wrote it and did it first in 1971. Thanks for posting it, though. Nice job.
Did any of those acts play it as a part of 13 straight nights of no repeated songs? Little different when you play it all the time. These guys only played it this one time. Not half bad for a one off cover!
They opened with this song last nite at the Mothership, and they killed it, awesome cover

This is not good.
Trey, that thing in your hand is a guitar. You play it while you’re on stage in front of 20,000 paying customers. It blows my mind that Phish fans let him get away with simply not playing guitar while singing a song. It’s as if he forgot how to sing and play. It would make such a big difference in a song if he would play the fuckin chords while singing. Holding the chords doesn’t make the noise happen. You need to strum at the same time.
Dude, get the f--k outta here coming onto this site and posting this s--t about Trey. The nerve....
Haha. Easy pickings trolling Phans man.
Phish smells bad here. Early on they were inspired; now they just leave me tired.
And disappointed. Wish you would have quit while you were ahead, guys.
