During the South Australian Karuna Dreaming, about 11,000 years ago, a man called Tjilbruke was saddened by the killing of his nephew so he carried his body from Tulukutangga (Kingston Park, South Australia) to Patpangga (Rapid Bay) fresh water springs developed at several places that he rested on his way, once there he placed the body of his nephew in a cave and came out covered in yellow ocre, he was so sad that he decided he didnt want to live as a man anymore and killed a Grey Cuurrawong, Tjilbruke smeared the birds fat on his body, tied its feathers to his arms as he flapped his arms he flew up into the sky and turned into a Glossy Ibis at Patpangga what is now know as Rapid Bay.
Ibis are actually pretty beneficial for us since they mostly eat invertebrates like slugs and worms , but they will eat other things as well so it’s dependent on the environment but for the most part no they aren’t harmful
