- Sung and unsung heroes, local and national, shared their diverse gifts with an inspired audience at TEDxTughlaqRd. TEDxTughlaqRd followed the celebrated TED format of brilliant curation, multidisciplinary talks and performances and power packed sessions of 'ideas worth spreading.'
Sinu started work on Menstrual Hygiene awareness in 2010, along with my colleague and friend Vyjayanthi. As a Menstrual Hygiene educator, she's reached out to over 6500 adolescent girls from government schools across Karnataka, and women from rural backgrounds.
She's also an Advisory Trustee for The Forward Foundation an NGO promoting sustainable livelihoods & water management.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
The message is even more beautiful than she! This a a powerful message. I am a father of two daughters. Thank for your educating me.🙏🏾
bro what if your wife finds out about what you called her
Kamakhya temple in Assam has a festival which celebrates menstruation. Women are considered to be representatives of Nature, and thus Goddesses. It is to remind us
about the ability to create life, thus it is sacred, just like what she said. It was a beautiful message. Thank you.
The question is, do the women know about menstrual hygiene? Are they comfortable talking about it?
We must not forget that there are temples like Sabarimala in the Country also...
@@arpannaskar1789 Don't know where you're going with that statement, but in case you didn't know, there are many Ayyappa temples in India, and the Sabarimala temple was consecrated in a specific manner that it's conducive for spiritual advancement, but this particular 'energy' is not compatible for women of childbearing age. Sinu herself has explained all of these beautifully in videos on UA-cam. Look it up for more information
@@MollyTheMoonchild history also points to occasions when
women of child bearing age entered sabarimala. And we are denied
that great devotional place. So there is no incompatibility. But preservation of some myths that doesn't make any sense.
Don't curse for telling the fact......
HUMANS CAN'T BE GODDESSES OR GODS
I am an old man at 79. I would advise every young girl to take the connotations of this Natural Mother's talks as gospel truths.
After seeing recent interviews of SINU Joseph on her book women and Sabarimala I became her fan and started watching all her earlier videos .
Me too, she is full of grace & wisdom 🙏
Same.....
Her way of presenting knowledge is even more beautiful.
Yes. Same for me.
i was late (16yr) ..but my mom ..and my DAD .... actually my dad came out more helpful during my first .we were way far of from hometown and he arranged everything single thing i could need... he called my mom up 6-7hours later when he thought i was all quite ..but i was surprised..coz all that was happening i knew it had to come one day but my dad supporting like that ...this made me quite...i was thinking the whole night that my granny and of course my mom have been so open to him that he embraced his daughter during her first like a superhero...which he is INDEED
LOVE TO MY PARENTS 💕💕
AND HOPE I GIVE SUCH A SURPRISE TO NEXT GENERATIONS TOO💕
Ye to bohot late hogaya 🤔
Is it normal
Sakshi Bardwaj,
You've a wonderful dad; God bless the both of you 🙏🙏
Lovely memories forever. Lucky you.😊
The entire odisha celebrates menstrual periods of mother earth as a festival called Raja(Rawjaw-Rajaswala) in the month of june every year with excitement, traditional dishes n rituals!
You were so gentle. You made me realise how special we are . I understood that it is not an issue to be sad about but a natural gift to be proud.
Thank u
Gentleness is nature's gift for women. Those who are swayed otherwise under the influence of western progressiveness and feminism, are actually doing an injustice to themselves by going against nature.
The choice is yours - whether to doom yourselves under the influence of the west, or to redeem your life by subscribing to the richness of 'vaidic' Indianness!
She is just too amazing she researched and embraced indian culture in true sense....she just made me realise that it is nothing to be sad about ..its even a free detox and beautiful gift we have
You look fabulous in the Sari. Thank you for wearing it with pride!
The Roys I want one♡ She's Beautiful ♡♡
the mensuration is natural. this is the identity of a girl or women . please respect this instead of making fun.
Unfortunately its them who claim to be Voice of women are making fun of it.
Bharatiya culture was quite open and Scientific in all aspect example kamakhya temple assam, and kumari festival in nepal.
I wouldn't say that it's the IDENTITY of a woman, friend. It's a feature of being female, not a personality trait.
But 100% agree, respect the issue.
I live in the U.S, and DAMN, I had no idea that many girls have no access to menstrual products. I do not envy them...yikes.
Like, the cycle is natural, and interesting and (sometimes) beautiful...but that doesn't make a tampon (or whatever) any less needed!
Idk who makes fun of this!? We boys all know this is natural.
@@SathvickSatish i I have seen boys making fun idk why
Feature* of women and some trans men*
This message must reach to everyone so that they can realise that menstruation is a natural process
Thank you Sinu. I am previleged to become a part of the audience of this outstanding talk about the reality of menstruation as a beauty of nature. This powerful message needs to be properly disseminated to reach the remote.
One of the best talks ever heard about periods... Amazingly well explained....
someone is talking so beautifully on menustration- so good to see it. i feel so much comfortable after listening to u. actually, i feel so much uncomfotable with my periods as they are very painful and most important is that i permanently wants to get rid of it. but ur talk made me realise that menustration and periods r part of women's beauty. it is not a part of shame but to feel proud that i m able to bring new generation on the earth . thank uu soo much
This is a good talk and you see she how wonderfully she has matured in her depth and knowledge on the subject when you hear her more recent videos. Great starting has culminated into greater work. Her books are wonderful.
Lovely talk. I started menstruating at the very young age of 10 and thought I was going to die and hid the fact from my parents. for two days i bled in silence and then my mom realized something was amiss. Today i have two daughters and as my older one reaches the age of 10... im on my toes... watching and vigilant. Ive given her enough information to keep her aware.. but will i be able to do enough .. is a question that plagues me.
Your talk was beautiful, as was your voice melodious. Kudos to you
what a wonderfully gentle and sublime way of presenting a so called taboo subject.....this speech needs widest publicity among moms and daughters.
I am so inspired and I feel incredibly empowered right now... Thank you so much for your speech! I've had extremely painful experiences with suspected endometriosis (surgery due to confirm) to the point I've been taken by ambulance to hospital. Its been debilitating - and this Ted talk just inspired me to embrace my period, regardless of the pain and suffering it brings me, because it is beautiful in a way that I can finally understand. This has made my day - best thing I ever watched :)
Yes really graceful talk.Your melodious voice was connecting and engaging that felt like grandmother telling a story. ENDING QUOTE was enlightening .Thank you .
Tushar Wayal I agree
A tabxp
G,
I thought i had cancer and all the blood will come out of my body
So i didn't tell my mom for 2 initial days
I laugh now when i think of it
God bless you....with a healthy ,long life.
Well, my mother told me about menstruation when I entered teenage, so, I didn't panic when I first menstruated.
same😂😂
me too
😂😂😂😂
I have been watching all your interviews lately Sinu, and I am filled with awe and respect. You have been able to break the blinkers of religion and conditioning , and have really set off on the path of self discovery. Wish you many more revelations of life and fulfillment.
Read her books
Beautifully understood. It feels great to hear these words connected to the nature. Time passed and swept away the reasons for certain believes.. and left us with only questions in mind and procedure to be blindly followed.
Changed the mindset towards menstruation!!
Greatly described!! ❤
Wese bhi menstruation ko sirf ads & company wale hi bura bana te hain .
Menstruation hoga hi nahi to bache kya asman se peda honge 🤔
Very beautifully put! Reclaiming the Shakti and creative powers of a woman is what feminity is all about. Truly a blessing from the divine which every woman must be cognizant of and be wholeheartedly in acceptance of this marvel.
The absolute grace personified this person is.. Just felt so compelled to listen to the whole talk!! Finding more talks of hers to listen to!

How beautiful and humbling to hear this woman talk about what menstruation means to us. Thank you. ♥️ I'm volunteering for a menstruation education project in UK High schools soon, which will include girls AND boys. I'm so excited!
Menstruation is a blessing and we should appreciate it rather than getting sad about having it.. 🙃
Yes. And take it as normal as any other body functions. It's marketing by big companies, which try to make it as abnormal
I still hate my period I don’t care what you say
Yesss
I always think of it as a natural curse.
noooo i hate it so much!! how can you say girls shouldn't be sad about having it? ;-;

Even as a person having access to very good indian libraries apart from internet, I could hardly get any information on this subject, thanks for these talks and related books
Beautiful, thank you! I highly recommend reading the book "Wild Power" on menstrual cycle awareness for those who also enjoyed this talk!
Never thought like that! Thanks for bringing forward this aspect of period as well!
The thought really touched heart so deeply
Haven't even thought of menstruation in such a positive way..... Amazing❣

Sinu joseph... This video was way superb than the one which u explained in scientific way of ayurveda which had a lot of negative comments...... But this really made sense and motivational
Beautifully spoken. Each word , every sentence u spoke had deep and true meaning, we need to know this
Indeed this subject has been hidden for a long time atleast now cleared

I felt after hear the story, how all of you nice who do have go through the trouble imposed by nature. after all that, behaving nicely without knowing anyone.
Great talk,
good to know some can express. You all are the special gift of gift. Thanks
Very detailed message, difficulty in educating and implementing good things and about menstruation.
Time would come where Menstruation is neither a hush hush subject nor taboo ! As she concluded it's not a curse it's a gift !
I am now feeling very calm... It was a great talk...
I am so lucky that my mother told me everything about the women's period at an age of ....well I don't even remember how old I was back then. I am so glad and thankful that she told me anyway. When I first bled at age 11, I wasn't scared at all. It was a normal day like every other day. I had my math exam and it went pretty well I think. When I came back and realized that I had my period, I was calm and collected.
Can't imagine what it's like for other girls. I really hope that every girl in this world isn't ashamed to talk about this.
What a beautiful message.Thank you.
Very melodious.....& Thought ful message

Wow, I wasn't expecting such an enlightening video. Thank you 💫
So well explained the beauty that is embedded in women... awesome
Brilliant presentation about menstruation( the foundation of human existence .) This topic is most important to know all female genders in their early life, and also others.
Our Rigveda said" women are foundation of human existence " that is why we prays goddess too.
Hat's of you mam you are the one right and perfectly explain that the menstruation isn't a stigma ,it is an beautiful blessings to women
Even though, I didn't understand bleeding, but I wasn't afraid when I first bled because I saw women bleeding when growing up. And my mom was so helpful.
You are so sweet n gentle n dealing with such difficult subject with simple language n wording
Lovely.. It can't be explain in words..
Love what she has on 🥰.
Excellent. No words to appreciate your speech
Amazingly touching and as beautifully and sensitively explained as the speaker herself.
How beautifully explained.thanks ji.
Profound talk .Very good knowledge for all.
Beautiful women with a wonderful speech ❤❤❤...suddenly l became too proud about my menstruation!
This is the life's most natural aspect for a woman. And as a man I will boldly say that rather NOT talking about it and NOT treating it as normal is Taboo!!
Exactly what I needed to hear!!
I really appreciate the celebration of menstruation and I encourage it. However in many socities we also probably see the backlash on those women who do not and / or have no menstruation. How do you help those women? In as much as menstruation is a cause for celebration it can has the very opposite and traumatising effect and experience on those who do not...
A beautiful and magically different approach👏🏻👏🏻
She's the real "mother India"
Wow Wow Wow
The talk is beautiful so is you !
Nikita Singh,
The talk is beautiful and so "are" you!
