@@alfaomegaproductions Yes I've personally been able to identify three - but it's probable many more were made for production. Thanks for tuning in!

I very much doubt it is the same screen one. Probably from the same mould as the one used in the film. They would have unlikely had just the one anyway. The claw is seen in Montana dig site scene and in the tree when Alan throws it, there would have been many versions of this.

@@dancutd They definitely made multiples for the film. This particular claw comes from a crewmember who worked on the film and they indicated it was from the bottom of the tree. Beyond that are the matching paint scuffs, of which there are more examples than are shown here in the document and match the 4k print. That's the only shot I can be conclusive about, and screen matches ultimately are the deciding factor. But yes the digsite claw and also the one being thrown by Sam Neill are different claws, I can be certain due to their markings and information from another owner of a screen used claw. Furthermore, if you check out the previous video you can see how this claw also appears to be displayed at the 'Making of Jurassic Park' exhibition in 1994. Alongside an array of Alan Grant's screen used props. Thanks for tuning in!

Thanks for tuning in! This was in a film props auction back in 2022 - there's a bit more info in the last video - if you follow the link in the description I discuss a bit there. Appreciate your comment!

It's definitely not cast from a real fossil, nor an eagle talon (or any real bird). There are too many morphological inaccuracies that don't match the real bones of birds or velociraptors. For example, the trench running along the center. In real raptors, it's less of a trench, and more like 2 offset surfaces creating a groove. Also the convex side is not supposed to have such a perfectly circular profile; it should be more oval (the living raptors in the movies actually have more accurate shaping to their claws than this fossil prop does).

Very interesting thank you! I suspect it was the chief sculptor who made the source claw. He recalls sculpting a claw that was taken and then reproduced, also recalls working on a skull for the opening, which could be the skull at the dig site. The skull gets couple of close ups. So perhaps he was tasked with sculpting the intended 'hero' close up pieces that were reproduced in resin by others in the props dept. Sadly the prop master Jerry Moss died in the 2000s, I know he would have known. But your comment reinforces my suspicion these were hand sculpted originally before being recast and painted/finished.
