Omo, late Gen. Abacha really looted Nigeria's treasury that even today, most of the money recovered and returned is helping Nigeria to offset some of their debt. Also to mention that Abacha's rule produced the longest ASUU strike of close to 2 years, the worst ever. In my own opinion, even if Babangida did not annul the June 12 elections, i think Abacha would still had overthrown the civilian rule, because he was then the highest ranking commander of the army and this phenomenon had happened in the past when Buhari overthrew the then Shagari rule. But in conclusion, Abacha's rule was very scary as i can remember as very little as i was then, on hearing his death, great jubilation broke out across my neighborhood of Ebute meta and beyond. Continue to rest in peace MKO Abiola and Ken Saro Wiwa as the struggle for a new and better Nigeria continues.

Prominent people from the south came out begging him to remove the interim government even at its inception. He never went abroad for medical treatment, he increased the price of fuel and used the money for infrastructural development building schools, roads, access to water, hospitals etc across the country evenly. He stabilized the naira, reduced inflation and reduced Nigerias debt all under sanctions and you have the temerity to label him evil and corrupt? He never left the country except to one or 2 African countries.
