Ya, those things are the real C8. I mean, ya a base vette was never that amazing. But the z06 and zr1 models are the ones to remember.
Z06 or not, it is just as heavy. This budget 'supercar' is compared to real carbon fiber supercars, which are much lighter and a bit smaller. Weight is the enemy of performance.

@@kw2519 oh i would love to have a C8 for sure, but i also miss the long hood of the C7. They should have kept the budget front-engine vette like the C7 and make an expensive rear-engine carbon fiber supercare like the C8. Then Corvette would be a brand. THis is controversial but then do like Porsche did, stretch the C7 for a backseat and raise it fo a SUV.
@@calbern1794 Ya you could take the genesis route. But the corvette has been trying to be a mid engine car for decades. This is more true to what it’s supposed to be. The C7 front engine design is just not great with gobs of power. Ya it looks like a corvette which the C8 does not lol but I think the C8 is a good step in the right direction. I’d imagine by the C10, we will have a legit super car for $100k
You can almost get a real feel of how awesome it is to drive this thing. Amazing car.
The soft character of the car, which you experienced, completely dissappears once you have it in track alignment. It gets very sharp and communicative
But I turn off traction control, engage sport plus on my m3 and it is in track mode…

The non-communicative steering wheel has already been pointed out by many car reviewers including laizy front when it comes to engage in corners.
@@skyhawkheavy7524 usually easy fix by using solid bushings in control arms but also increase in vibration…

The C7 handled corners quite well, they upped it hard with the C8 but people underestimate the C7s for handling. They were a proper sports car.
I have one in the US and just drove it on the track yesterday. This thing is quite heavy but is also an amazing machine for the price. Happy to see this car coming to Europe and offer a bit of different flavor there. Hope that we can have Alpine 110s here in the US too!
It's a shame it's so expensive in Europe, starts at 100k EUR last I checked.

@@chamaldealwis9 because you won't get an allocation for a GT4 to begin with. I don't think you can even order them anymore.
And the price of the Corvette is GT4 territory until you start adding a few options to the latter, it gets to 130k mighty quick.
I'd still get a GT4 if I'd get an allocation just off the fact that they retain value really well, but the Corvette has its advantages too.
@@xIcarus227 retain valaue? A Corvette in any other countries except NA is going to have it's valaue skyrocket in my country a normal C8 is 250k USD here and we make about 6 times less then the Americans
@@jonathanng138 no, the Corvette isn't a limited-run car like the GT4 is. There's no reason for the Corvette to retain value better than a GT4 will, it's genuinely impossible.
It's simple supply and demand, and there's a greater supply of Corvettes than there is of GT4s. Plus Porsche has a much greater appeal for collectors as evidenced by the silly prices old Porsches go by, limited-production runs or not. Old Corvettes don't come anywhere near.
Dual wishbone isn't high-tech for Corvettes as they've been doing that since the C4 in the '80s. They did really well getting their cars to handle properly
@@ernestkeller186 Some people haven't updated their knowledge on American cars since the 1980s apparently. The latest Cadillacs and Camaros on the alpha platform are the best handling cars in their class.

I rented a C7 and the back was far too light. The wheels were spinning when I applied a small amount of pressure to the accelerator. I think it needs a mid mounted engine.
we in the US were also suprised when they made the corvette mid engine. no one thought GM would ever do it even though it was obvously necessary.

@@TheNismo777 That is insane. A Corvette Stingray with Z51 performance package is more like $73k in the US (plus sales tax approx 4%-9%, depending on the state).

When Misha drove the c8 z51 on the Nurburgring he said it competes at any price point! Many reviewers have said the same too but you somehow come to a different conclusion lol.
I can order a brand new c8 z51 for £87,000 from a UK Chevy dealership. That’s still a great but!

The way that color is reflecting the sun is beautiful almost changes into a teal and then to a like a really light green anyways I work at the Warren County Bowling Green Kentucky plant for Corvette myself I love these cars the Z06 is nowhere near the tops either just wait theres still two more models after the e-ray the plan has always been there will be five trim levels two rays and three zeds
Like my old c6 z06, that one has a lot of room to improve with relatively small upgrades! Just consider that with it’s 6.2 L V8, it’s putting out about just 80hp per liter. Very conservative! I bet that with a good remap, full exhaust and intake, it can gain at least 60hp. My c6 z06 with the same basic recipe got about 80hp. Ok, the c8 z06 is much better still, but right now, considering the prices mark up, I think it’s about double the price of the “regular” c8.

This car is super beautiful and stunning!! I like it. And the case, that it is not supercar fast... well who cares. The driving experience is more important. Its like a mid-engined supercar/cruiser.

the dry weight of a c8 coupe is a around 1580kg, thats just not that heavy, it weights about the same as a e46 m3

the American version does 60-130 (97km/h - 210km/h) in 9.1 seconds, and 100km/h - 200km/h in 8 seconds. I think the OPF filter really kills the performance of the car. and mind you, the Z51's straight line acceleration is worse than the base C8, including the top speed (184mph for the Z51 vs 192mph for the base) best is to have the Z51 and select the low wing option which looks close to the base C8 and generates less drag. Z51 CD 0.38 vs C8 base CD 0.32 maybe that explains

Here in Europe we also don't have such idiotic American things like "one foot rollout" bullshit. Therefore a Corvette has absolutely no fucking chance against the BMW M3 or M4 Competition with AWD, because these cars have perfect traction from the start in every drag race. Not only after a "one foot rollout".
The quite heavy Corvette with only RWD has absolutely no chance against German AWD traction performance vehicles, which have the same amount of torque!

Stop telling these totally unimportant "performance numbers" of the Corvette, because here in Europe, the Corvette always shrinks down to this vehicle, it has been since decades: it's just not fast enough to keep up with Porsche vehicles. Even the Porsche Cayenne GTS, Turbo or Turbo GT models would be quicker or as quick as the Corvette. I'm not even talking about the 911, because EVERY Porsche 911 model is simply too fast and quick for a Corvette.

High end sports car is this EU homologated version of a C8 Stingray...unfortunately the Z06 is also going to be detuned for EU...but the Z06 is the real supercar, if they do proper twin turbo on ZR1 it will be crazy 🎉

Here in Canada the Vette undercuts a base no options 718 Cayman by a few grand… and we all know there isn’t a modern Porsche anywhere without at least $10k in options.
The Vette continues to be a modern day bargain in the sports car world, with the Z06 being arguably a super car for half the price (or less).
Square steering wheel works good in the long straight lines.
There is not much corners in the USA :)

I m selling my Porsche 718 for a C7 Stingray. Back to big V8 naturally aspirated. I can t wait to get all the paper work done and stuff. Tbh, appart of the chassis brought by German cars, only US knows how to bring joy for affordable budget. Big displacement V8 NA engines, easy to tune with a whipple for addirional 200 HP, reliable....etc. I m so pissed with EU and their silly regulations...we are slowly taken all our freedom one by one.
I mean I wanted to buy a new motorbike for track only after 10 years without riding. There are no 600 cc anymore, just the low HP version with full power being not even 90 HP...that s stupid.
Sadly, due to ever-increasing regulations in the US, big V8 engines will soon be a thing of the past. Cadillac has already said the latest generation of their cars will be replaced with all electric motors. And the Camaro is about to be put out to pasture. Get them while you can! :(

But one thing that puts me off: Old Corvettes where quiet „affordable“ when bought used and relatively easy to work on and repair. I think this mid engine supercar layout will be a lot more expensive to maintain and work on.
But maybe it’s just a feeling. 😅

there is so much room behind the driver and they miss the opportunity to put a bigger engine there. a 17000cm³ engine with 4 turbos would fit there, 4000HP on the wheels and 500Km/h topspeed. i think of a double V engine, 4 cylinder lines each with 4 cylinders in 45 degree angle like this -> _ \ / _ together 16cylinders. why dont they make a car like that ?!? if these sportscar producers really want to make a supercar, that would be it !
Build what your customers and the general population wants. Companies like Yamaha still struggle with this concept. its too bad life is a massive rat race and the flashiest most unusable car is #1.
