Roy in his prime years was a beautiful thing to watch. He's the reason me and so many others who didn't care much for boxing became boxing fans. It was like watching a real life perfect fighter. Roy enjoyed fighting and would rather show he could dominate a fighter rather then get the knockout. Make no mistake about it, If Roy wanted you out of there he could get you out. This version of Roy is the Roy we all dreamed of fighting Tyson. I have not seen anyone to this day that could beat a 90's Roy Jones Jr. No Mayweather, Terence Crawford, Lomachenko, Canelo Alverez, no one. A young hungry RJJ beats Hearns, Hagler and Sugar Ray Leonard.
even guys like this who lasted all 12 rounds, roy jones jr just embarrasses the shit out of em. knocked em down a few times, but also just out boxed him by a landslide. controlled all the action, he'd walk away cuz the guy wouldnt throw a punch, then come back and try to nail him. almost every guy he fought, in his prime, just got embarrassed cuz he was so good, almost makes you feel bad for the other guy, who a lot of times is a respectable fighter
I met Reggie in 2017. He was so nice and humble. I became a fan instantly. I know Roy Jones is considered to be one of the best, if not the best in his prime, but every time I watch this fight I hope that Reggie wins!
Well, Roy Jones did it again, Reggie Jonhson was disorganized since the first knockdown, but the hand speed made a huge difference though. Great fight!
Jones, in his prime, may decent fighters look stupid. Reggie Johnson was a good, solid champion but he could barely land a glove on Jones. Roy should have retired at 34 after beating John Ruiz and taking a portion of the heavyweight championship. Instead, he boxed way too long and ended up with a lot of unnecessary losses. Muhammed Ali should have retired at 32 after beating George Foreman in 1974, but instead he carried on fighting till 1980 before finally retiring at 38. Those last six years in the ring cost him his health. It's sad when fighters don't know when to quit when they are ahead!
Legendary British fighter Joe Calzhagi , Unbeaten World Champion retired unbeaten ,one of the very few to do so right after destroying Roy Jones Junior ...He also Humbled racist cheat Bernard Hopkins , Lacey , Brewer and many other USA champions.. Joe Calzhagi was a different class , like Rocky Marciano never beaten.. He was possibly one of the greatest pound for pound fighters to ever grace the ring ..often fighting and beating opponents with just one good hand .. What a guy
120-104 Roy Jones Jr Jones Johnson 1 10 8 2 10 9 3 10 8 4 10 9 5 10 8 6 10 9 7 10 9 8 10 9 9 10 8 10 10 9 11 10 9 12 10 9 When you land 1-2 total punches - I’ll give that a 10-8 too not Just the knockdowns. Domination by the p4p goat

@Black Hawk7 roy won vs Hopkins at their primes that’s what matters, Hopkins continued fighting since he had something to prove. Roy fought way past his best since he enjoyed it. Better to be unbelievable for your prime than very good over a long period.

I think Roy could beat all of them except maybe Hagler and Leonard. Those are toss ups he could win by decision or lose split decision.
Prime Jones was amazing
L ❤❤
Classic matches... HBO and Roy Jones Jr.. Like Saturday morning cartoons and cereal...
Roy could’ve knocked Reggie out and scrambled his brain but he held back and showed mercy on him out of respect and being a real pro.
