People say this all the time with the projectile heavy/campy characters because they believe they are cheap and/or boring and it compels them to want to see them lose. Unless he hates Jake on some personal level it's nothing new and it's nothing crazy. If you want to really get him back then say "Jake is only gonna get further in future tournaments". And he just might.

Still don't get how people are still so pressed about Steve. I mean we got Banjo & Kazooie, a character people have wanted in for decades, and Sephiroth, who is just hype. I'll admit I was kinda eh on Steve being in, but it didn't really click until I played some casual games with my nephew and he was incredibly excited that Steve was in. There's a lot of people who really like Steve and are happy he's in smash, but a lot of them are younger and thus outside of our demographic. Doesn't mean that smash can't be geared to appeal to them as well.
