Onin: @WeHave2BanSteve
Ned: @nedPT_
Great patience by Ned and awesome work by Onin getting so far. GGs 💪
Man that has to be the best neutral I’ve ever seen. So patient and refined. Good job Ned.
Loved ned when he played PT, but his sephiroth has seriously leveled up this year. Keep going ned!
The up-smash missing in game one wasn’t because of the hitbox, actually- when sephiroth has wing, all of his smash attacks have heavy* armor. As he got hit by the up-smash, Ned was in the down-smash animation. Hence, when he was hit by Steve’s up-smash, his heavy* armor had already activated. He was nicked by the hitbox, but his own hurtbox shifted out of it due to the heavy* armor and animation
Basically, sephiroth’s broken comeback mechanic saved his ass (this is coming from a seph main).
Technically it's damage-based armor that can withstand up to 20%. Superarmor can withstand any damage (such as Ike's up-b or Little Mac's smash attacks).
It's not broken in the slightest.
As it should.
@@MerryBlind I believe damage-based armor is called heavy armor
@@Pal0maSama Indeed!
Ned... Dripping with Swag with those smooth moves. Made Sephiroth look omnidirectional at some points. Sheeeesh.

17:57 to 18:00 the jump out of cart to Phantom Block Reverse Bair was beautiful.
He died at 33... It was gorgeous though.
Nairo was right about Sephiroth being good against Steve
Nah, Ned just outplayed Onin. He lost the first set too.
Cope
Most characters that can outrange Steve even half as well as Sephiroth give Steve a decent amount of trouble
@@Hi-fd4cw what 💀
The champ coming back from sd'ing at 0 in his last game. Never get tilted, never surrender
Fun fact: Both Steve and Sephiroth has a background of burning villages/town to the ground
Just in one game it's an evil antagonist that we have to fight, and in the other game, *we* are the evil antagonist.
As a Steve main, Sephiroth secondary, that battle was instructive to me.
Sephiroth wing deteriorates by point values set to him taking stocks, doing damage and taking damage.
For simplicity sake, we can assume the total is 100.
Every stock he takes is 50 points, % given is 1% to 1 point, and % taken is something like 5% to 1 point. And obviously if Seph loses the stock, that's 100 points.
Hopefully this answers that question a little bit haha
also the point total he starts with depends on stock count:
if stocks are even he gets 100 pts,
2 stocks behind he gets like 150+,
2 stocks ahead he gets like 50
@@dadonutinator glad it made sense haha, and exactly right
A fantastic two sets. An evenly matched matchup!
That last stock was top shelf Ned.
Steve mains are just villains of smash
Definitely I want them all to lose
Yet the power of memes will save the,
Wompwomp
@LinkMaster5555 not gonna happen bitch 😂
PSA at 8:00
You cannot tech some hits because of distance to the blocks, also with sephiroth being too big happens to do some colliding stuff that makes it untecheable.
wow really happy to see Ned done so well this time.I think he is better at Sephiroth this year.Just keep going on!
That sd 😂 shouldn’t have happened though I thought the momentum would be stopped by shielding
Es todooo neeeeddd!!!!!
Damn Ned clean here
Esam slayer?
Tweek take notes for summit
I feel like if onion can get almost as good as Steve with another character that is better against sephiroth, Ned would be in a coofin
GOOD SHIT NED!!!! Making Seph look oh so smooth
Dude wtf is up with this commentary.
Why is one commentator joshing the other?
Like
It feels so uncomfortable
He's correcting and disagreeing with everything
"That counter is so good against Steve-"
"You could just say that counter is so good-"
????? But who asked???? Talk about the match ffs
the last time onin lost lol
Which was a month ago. Kudos to his skills, but it also shows that Steve isn't as busted as people are saying right now.
@@andrebaxter4023 bro what 💀 he can kill off of goddamn up tilt and wood tools do so much damage for no reason. Also block is literally BY FAR the best move in the game. Steve is busted 😭
@@xanander4693 broken but not as broken as people think. Im pretty sure what they meant.
@@freshplayz2709 that is true.
@@andrebaxter4023 more like sephiroth is a counter against Steve. Not that Steve isn't still busted 😂
Man i loooooooove dying because i got jabbed by steve at 32%😐
Ned needs to counter more and use more projectiles... Other than that is sephoroth will be strong
Ladies and gentlemen, Steve’s worst matchup 😂
Eh, -1
It’s actually cloud but def his second worst
@@xanander4693 I feel like Sephiroth's Counter can make a big difference for minecart, which Cloud doesn't have. Hard to say which is the definitive best but they definitely both have good tools to deal with Steve.
@@MerryBlind I’m honestly starting to think that Sephiroth is actually even 😳 Sephiroth outranges him and forces Steve to play midrange (Steve’s midrange isn’t as bad as ppl say it is) and his sword goes through block. However Sephiroth has to play almost perfectly in order to keep Steve out, and that’s very difficult. If Steve gets one or two good hits in Sephiroth is so light that he dies at like 80 😭. Also since Sephiroth is tall Steve combos him really well. I’m not saying Seph loses but Steve also doesn’t lose the matchup anymore. I feel like Steves in general have gained an understanding of the mu.
@@xanander4693 I completely agree with you. Cloud v Steve is -2, and I think Steves worst matchup is actually Pokemon Trainer! Ivysaur gets the job done! Ivy fair is similar to Cloud fair and Ivy has a better projectile as well!
Dude said Minecraft was after his time while providing commentary for a 2018 game....something doesnt add up
ned the goat
@2:50
16:29
Ngl, steve should lose the stuff he mined for if he loses a stock, it would remove a lot of pressure and would still be in line with the game he's in.
That would turn him from one of the best characters, into slightly above Gannon territory
@@rhyderleming5851 how so? Because if that's the case then I can't really think of anything else that can balance him enough. Not that I'm the one implementing the balance patch, its just a fun thought
Is Ned better than tweek?
Let's see Ned fight Tweek in a bracket path. Would be fun to watch.
Ned’s Sephiroth is better but I guess it’s still Tweek for overall skill
He seems to have better match up knowledge to say the least, he plays around block and tnt set ups very well, even punishing onin for using tnt. He also uses Sephiroth's movement to space incredibly well in the range where onin couldn't hit him
bro that commentator sounds like the biggest nerd on the planet
Steve looks like smash 4 bayonetta but reimagined into a far less complicated character lol
if steve wins thumbs down lol
Steve gameplay is just so damn awful. It takes 30 years to get to a setup that has a slim chance to be hype at all
Really? Pronouns? Unsubscribing for sure; smash tournaments are woke now, I guess.
cope
The goddamn woke coastal elite billionaire city slicker TOs are destroying smash. They should stop using those fake leftist pronouns and replace them with everpony
stay mad
cry about it
Bye 👋 don't need rude people that say stuff like woke
