Doing some Fishing Experiments

  • Well this is just a short video of a little experiment i have been working on to see if i can fish better in the wind with a tenkara or Keiryu rod. The main line is the part i have been working on cause it catches the most wind, i normally use RIO Dacron in 20lb and it works great, it's lite and cast great making it easy to work longer distance with your drifts. The problem is the wind blows your line right out the water every gust so i have been trying different compounds on the line to make it work better so far bow string wax does get the job done by not letting the wind rip it out of the water way better than nothing on the line at all. Great fish! And on tenkara/keiryu! So, Justin, what do you think of your waxed dacron line? I have a 12' tenkara rod I've been using nylon on, and it isn't so nice in wind, so does what you did work REALLY good? And does the waxed line also float good?

thank you, i think it will work fine but wax's has a hard time in the winter might make the line to stiff but not sure yet as this day it was in the 60's. The wind from this day was breezy and i would say it really helped. 20lb dacron is pretty light and the ratio on length i use makes it easy to hold it off the water but also transfer the power to get you fly where it needs to be, the T100 is 17ft and i run about 17ft to the fly makes it easy to fish 25+ away from you.
