    Best video I’ve seen in this so far! Today I thought I had an idea of what to do, and I ended up making the pins look like a jack-o’-lantern’s teeth! Haha
    Now I can get them back arrange logically and try to fine again tomorrow!
    My plan is to set the 5 pins to 20 through 60, and then use the wheel calibration tape to make my top pin the floater. I figure then the top wheel adjustments can represent the sub-20 yardages, and then transition to plus-60 yard marks at the bottom.
    Thanks for this!

    Thank you. I can adjust 1st, 3rd, and 5th pin this way but not the 2nd or 4th. Any idea why? The screws are recessed so I can’t tell what’s happening but turning them seems to have no affect on the pins. Would appreciate any thoughts.

    What size Allen wrench?

    • @BackwoodsPursuit
      @BackwoodsPursuit  3 роки тому +1

      I can't seem to find the size of the Allen wrench, but it' looks to be a 1/16. It's a size smaller than a 5/64, but the .05 I've got that is labeled is too small. Only one in between them is the 1/16th. The 1.5mm is too small, and the 2mm is too big on the metric side. So, should be the 1/16th. 😁

    Great video! I switched from a single pin housing to the 5 pin housing and I used to be able to adjust left to right with the micro windage knob! Can you do that with the 5 pin housing? Thanks!

    • @BackwoodsPursuit
      @BackwoodsPursuit  4 роки тому

      Thank you and thanks for watching! Yes, you absolutely still have that left/right windage adjustment with the 3 and 5 pin housings. The left/right adjustment on the individual pins is just to make sure each pin is vertically aligned with the wire and centered within the sight housing.

    Great video, thank you. My question is what is the starting point for the entire housing prior to sighting the individual pins? Seems like you started about the midpoint the gear/scale. But, nobody seems to talk about that..... Thanks.

    • @BackwoodsPursuit
      @BackwoodsPursuit  3 роки тому

      Great question and thanks for asking! There really isn't a "right" answer to that, but yeah, the mid point is a good place to start. You can always move the whole housing and/or the vertical slide later and your pins would still be gapped correctly. Thanks for watching!

    • @kenhoffman3393
      @kenhoffman3393 3 роки тому +1

      @@BackwoodsPursuit OK, follow up. Do you set the tape first, or do you set the individual pins first? Seems like I have to get that 20 yard pin in the right place by moving the entire housing first. then set the tape. Once that is approximately in the right zone, it can't move much or it throws everything off. I am guessing that by setting the tape first, you always know where to bring the 20 yards pin pack to. Make sense? Thanks for your time.

    • @BackwoodsPursuit
      @BackwoodsPursuit  3 роки тому

      @@kenhoffman3393 you can do it either way, but I found it worked best start with making sure the pins are where you want them inside the housing, then set the 20yd pin first using the knob to make sure your vertical movement is going to give you the clearances you need. There's a lot of ways to do it of course because you have 3 different things that adjust the elevation (pins, housing and knob adjustments) and they all affect each other. Does that help?

    I have a question. When should the individual pin adjustments be made (vertically)? After sighting in (at 20yds) and setting up my site tape? I don't understand. If I am using the dial to site in and set for 20 (or 30.or whatever distance) why would I move the pins. I have a 3 pin horizontal mount sight. I wish I could move the pins to unclutter my sight window between 20, 30 and 40 but isn't that all relative to bow speed, arrows, draw weight etc?. Please help I can't wrap my head around the abundance of adjustment options/capabilities.

    • @BackwoodsPursuit
      @BackwoodsPursuit  2 роки тому

      Hey there Jim! I hear ya...it can be kinda hard to get the hang of at first!
      The pins and sight tape setting processes are separate. You can do either one first, but the pins adjustment doesn't affect the sight tape selection. The sight tape selection only affects things when you love the whole housing using the big wheel. Does that make sense? Thanks for watching!

    Whats your thoughts if you are out of room on your 5th-60 yard pin, as far as it being way too low and close to your bubble.

    • @BackwoodsPursuit
      @BackwoodsPursuit  4 роки тому +2

      If you are running out of room inside your sight housing, you'll need to move your entire housing down using the Allen screw ( not the yardage knob) and start over sighting in your pins. Something I like to do is set my top pin where I want it inside my housing, then sight in that top pin by move my whole housing. Once the top pin is sighted in, work out to the 60yd pin and make sure I've got the bubble clearance. You can also do the same thing by starting with sighting in your 60yd pin (first move you 60yd pin where you want it inside your housing), and then sight that one in using the whole sight housing adjustment. That should take care of the issue for you. Try either of those methods and let me know if that helps! Thanks for watching!

    Where is the housing suppose to be when starting

    • @BackwoodsPursuit
      @BackwoodsPursuit  3 роки тому

      Great question! There's not a really "right" for it to be, but your bow setup will determine part of it. If you prefer your slide in a certain place for your zero, you can move the housing or vise versa to some degree. There's a ton of adjustment on both of them!
