  • Sunday, January 28th 2024. With another chance of rain just 3 days away, the City of San Diego stepped up their efforts to try and get ready for the next storm as fast as humanly possible. Almost every department in the city showed up to help out including San Diego Fire, ESD, Streets, Parks and Rec, Urban Forestry, and Think Blue/Stormwater. Because it was Sunday, more resources and manpower were available than the day before, meaning crews could move at a much faster pace. Parks and Rec brought out their Beach Cats, more commonly found grading the sand on Mission Bay, to clear large piles of debris out of the street, ESD pulled roll offs from park locations to drop in Southcrest, half of the cities residential rear load fleet was out working, almost every dump truck in the city was out getting filled up with mud and debris from Chollas Creek, and streets department also brought out their big dozers. From 7AM to 5PM, garbage trucks, roll offs, and dump trucks were doing round robbins to the landfill dumping tons of material off. Even though they made a large dent by the end of the day, the amount of debris still left to clear out was massive. During the course of the next week, the city hired contractors to help clear out more trash from the street.
Thanks to the crews for allowing me to film!

i shoulda been watching the miramar cameras
would've been truck after truck. No time to watch the whole thing but i'm glad the city is helping out as much as they can. Still cannot believe this happened even in california. it's something i'd imagine would happen in another country

I don't think anyone imagined this level of destruction would have happened in California, or in all places, San Diego.

“Now that’s a lotta damage” Seriously though, this is quite the tragedy… insane that you got all of that on video.

So what exactly is the loader at 17:39 trying to accomplish? I really enjoyed the variety of equipment shown here. I wish you could have filmed all this stuff being dropped off at Miramar landfill

I was thinking the same thing when I was recording it. It's like trying to remove every spec of sand from a beach but doing with tweezers and picking up one grain at a time. It was and still is an impossible task. Thanks!

Good video, I like to watch how you work, thank you, more videos can be about half an hour or longer, which you then upload to watch. Wow, what mountains of garbage does it always look like every week or just at Christmas, it was a great job what you do every day without you, the city would sink into garbagewashhands😄👍💪🚚🚛🛻🚧🦺You can see more of the videos in the great clean-up video that water causes
