  • Talking about why Enfants Riches Deprimes is SO EXPENSIVE. Is it money laundering, idiocy, or something else entirely? Why are people seemingly spending so much on this underground punk luxury fashion brand?

    I'd love to see a video on your entire ERD collection - maybe from earliest pieces to latest?

      Maybe an initial video then updates every 6 months or so. You're the only channel that covers ERD like this@@LOWluxury

    Holy shit its so ironic my friend went to jail for money related reasons in augest 2023 and he was always wearinf ERD and SLP, he was this real skinny handosme dude and he never posted himself or anything and id aks why he never modeled and hed always just blow it off. He also never had a job so him funding insane grails and drug habbjt was reallt suspicious. Kinda a yap sesh but thought it wild that there is some ERD money laundering conspiracies

    4gseller - is it money laundering? should be the title of this video...
    most other sellers dont charge these insane prices

      Some other sellers follow suit! But for sure 4g has to be considered as the front runner of the pricing insanity.

    Personally, what makes ERD to be such a special brand will also be its downfall. Within the community, it's clear that ERD's expansion is a turn off to certain collectors who now purely focus on the 'golden years' of ERD (which some say is prior to Henri's sobriety). This expansion has also attracted substantially more fakes of both recent and archive piece.
    The individuality of each piece means it's only harder to legit check items. I've seen retail items have incorrectly spelled washtags, font changes to sizing tags, missin details, etc. only adding to the confusion. The apathy of the brand which was great at first makes it harder for the collectors to shift through what's real and easier for 'hypebeasts' to get scammed off a belt or a shirt. It's just safer not to buy second hand unless it's a particularly rare piece. The rarity of certain items of also grossly exaggerated, not every tee is a 1/10.
    I'll continue to collect ERD because the quality is still there but I'm interested to see how the brand will manage over the next few years.

      I’ve been feeling no the same way. It is not worth it anymore to buy at resale 90% of the time, either due to price or authenticity questions. At this point fans should save up to get their grails at drop and then fill out their wardrobe with the lesser pieces when they hit sale.

      I don't entirely agree with that. The leathers I've handled from season to season feel like the recent seasons are starting to dip in quality. I also think the pieces that would actually be produced were more unique previously. The recent catalogues have remained largely the same (distressed hoodies, knits, carpenter pants, leather jackets, etc.) while prior to 2020, there was a lot more variation.
      While the recent runways have looked gorgeous, what actually hits the shelves is entirely different. Whereas previously, a good amount of runway pieces would become available. Expect to see ERD align to a sort of Chrome Hearts model with custom leathers, and a focus on accessories/jewelry (as seen with the chop sticks, hammer, etc.). @@terrylibin6877

       @DeLaSoledad I've been buying ERD for years. Generally speaking, quality is an overstatement. People who buy ERD don't buy for the quality but for the status and the "edgy" factor, even back then when ERD was not as famous. For example, the most recent FW23 pieces...
      The "I Do Believe in God" assemblage hoodie started to fade even just after 2 wash cycles on gentle mode (flipping inside out in a laundry wash bag).
      - Italian Romance Canvas Jacket - Don't even get me started on the hardware for the Italian romance canvas jacket. It fell apart after just testing out the snap buttons. I had to email ERD for them to mail me replacement snap buttons.
      - The Hun Battle Print Shirt just felt so cheap that I had to pass on it.
      A rivet on my leather pants fell out, so I had to find a replacement rivet after two wears. There are just too many QC issues.
      They're definitely trying to keep up with the recent demand at the expense of lowering the quality of certain items. However, their leather jackets are still good. It's the only thing I still buy from them, and I feel like it's not going to break.

      I definitely agree on their recent pieces - I have similar examples to what you've said. I've always enjoyed the quality of their silk, wool and general knit pieces from previous seasons. The most recent knits don't really compare to me anymore.
      I don't think the recent leathers are bad at all, just compared to the cut-and-sew bikers I have (even the western leather jackets), the recent 'Frank' leather jacket just wasn't the same. You're right though, the quality is overhyped.@@shadowseam0422

    Def saw the ERD bubble pop real time. 1 out of 1 or basically impossible to find pieces on Grailed went down in price by almost 50% in the past year-ish. Simply no one is buying them like last year after the Kanye hype blew over. Even the realtree camo and super offensive stuff is just sitting.

    • @LOWluxury

      Yeah I’ve def been noticing the downturn too. The sale stuff on mr porter and SSENSE is sitting too which doesn’t usually happen

    I mean Gucci and balenci etc be charging the same prices 😂 ridiculous I like red but some stuff is like nahhh 1k for tshirt no thanks but $1200 for a hoodie ehh maybe most of that stuff is trash kinda besides a couple things

    • @LOWluxury
      @LOWluxury  6 місяців тому

      True, but the difference is that Gucci and Balenciaga don't resell for the same or higher amount than they did at retail. That's fairly unprecedented outside of key, limited grail pieces.

    What do you think is the next big resellable brand after the ERD bubble pops

    • @LOWluxury
      @LOWluxury  7 місяців тому

      Idk I think it’s pretty rare that brands hit like this where things go above retail. The only examples I can think of are ERD and Chrome Hearts. Of course most big brands have certain grails that go above retail but that’s normal. I think Gallery Dept is starting to look a bit bubbly but even that doesn’t really go above retail I don’t think.

    Love ur video keep it up 🫡…just a edit: it’s not arbitrage…it’s speculation…arbitrage is when u can buy it somewhere cheaper sell it somewhere else for more (eg. I buy a Japanese when in Japan because it’s cheaper there, and come back to US and sell it for more)….speculation (eg. In commodities market, you buy gold, thinking it will go up in value without knowing the future of it)

    • @LOWluxury
      @LOWluxury  7 місяців тому

      I probably explained it poorly but I think it does fit, doesn’t it? The resellers have found a delta in the market between retail and resale like Grailed - something sitting on the ERD website for 1k is simultaneously worth 2k on Grailed. You’re right that speculation is probably more apt, though.
