  • This is my favorite video I’ve made in a long time because I think y’all will really enjoy what PALY is cooking up. I don’t even care about resale margins personally but if Enfants Riches Deprimes has taught me anything, it’s that crazy grails get people psyched, and I think there’s something here.

      I'm almost positive it's named after Palo Alto, and Franco's first(?) book was Palo Alto Stories so it's all kind of connected. But I get where you're coming from. I think in the end though once it gets integrated into people's minds and they're aware and into it, it really doesn't matter. I think Demeulemeester is silly af as a word/brand name but I have a connotation of coolness in my mind when I hear it because the clothes are cool and they've created a history for themselves. Does that make sense?

      @@carrisagrace1 of course, but he was talking about the “look” of the brand name, and as a brand name it looks silly. I have no problem with it, it was her name, it makes sense. But from a purely aesthetic point of view, it’s a funny collection of letters.

    The hem thing isn’t a rip off of anything. Those vertical stitches are is what’s known as a single stitch hem. It’s how t-shirts commonly made prior to the mid-90s. Single stitch t-shirts have become very desirable because of the rise of the boxy, cropped, faded vintage blank/band t style that Bare Knuckles and Unsound Rags has skyrocketed in popularity among the “if you know you know” online guy’s fashion crowd.

      100% I hear that. This probably didn’t come through so my b it’s not just the fact that they use a single stitch it’s the specific height and spacing combined with the tags, material etc that makes me think there’s some very interesting supply chain stuff happening behind the scenes.

    Sizing question. I also wear a small in most designer clothing but I had to size up for ERD’s paper thin tee’s (the new ones like sleep sound and theatre of cruelty). My question is, what size do u take in those. To help me decide which tee size I would get in Paly. Lowk already ordered a medium. Got the “Hollywood is hell tee”

    it’s crazy because ppl have turned inspiration to a bad thing these days. all these brands are inspired by something and if you love and appreciate art then you’ll understand this is just an interpretation of “their” art. i have a brand called Fragile, had it in 2013 before paly and ERD (first collection idk about the thought itself) existed and i was heavily inspired by ralph, heidi, Vivienne, film, art music, vintage t’s etc etc. during covid i had to stop production unfortunately. so i took time off but i have been revamping Fragile and my craft this year, more cut and sewn pieces, pattern making, sourcing fabric etc and its partially because im finding myself more and more inspired by brands like ERD and paly. they have took my similar thoughts and made them a reality for a smaller brand like myself so maybe im bias because i love both brands and because they reflect my brand as well in a way. at the same time i get some ppl views on this and i know plagiarism is a real thing but my vision for Fragile is mine and mine only at the end of the day and ill stay true to that kid from brooklyn who loves all these things that i mentioned and hopefully one day it’ll pay off. i just love fashion and creating so i hope to send Low Luxury a piece one of these days appreciate the channel and see ya all soon! great vid bruv! 😎

    Nothing that brands like Saint Michael and ERD haven't already done. Becoming generic at this point. At least Gallery Dept. used to upcycle fashion albeit at a crazy stupid price. Chrome will always have celebrity backing given the Starks strong relationships developed over many years. Brands like ERD and Paly Hollwyood will come and go. Most Gallery pieces are sitting on shelves these days. The hype for a lot of these brands just doesn't last. I personally like to invest into the designer themselves and I love a lot of Hedi Slimane's pieces from Dior through his time now at Celine. Could care less if the brand is designer or "mainstream". The pieces are timeless and archival and speak for themselves.

      very well said, I think the style is cool but its just so easy to replicate (since most of the designs from saint Michael, red, and others are references to other vintage tees), I think its going to be interesting to see which brands stick with this aesthetic and don't follow the trend cycle. whichever brands are genuine will be the ones that will exceed hype by having a real message or distinct style (this will probably be erd since I feel like its the face of the style, saint Michael is slightly different but also will probably stick around)

    Brand is just so obviously a lazy copy of ERD, from the hand drawings, to the tag, hang tag, designs, details, etc etc etc. only reason it’s relevant is because of the celeb connections. And I’m almost positive henris aware because I know someone very close to him and they agreed it’s a horrible brand copy of ERD. Even the artwork is damn near a copy with minor tweaks. If you support real fashion and Henris ERD you’d never buy this bullshit

    • @nicklavigne8351

      James Franco’s art isn’t even that similar to the art they use for paly, paly is way more of a ERD copy and not Franco’s art. Almost positive Franco’s friend copy’s ERD and Franco unknowingly approves since it’s similar to what he does

    • @LOWluxury
      @LOWluxury  5 місяців тому +1

      I think I have a few thoughts here. For one I’m not sure I care what Henry thinks about it? Obviously I respect his work but the cult of Henry is a little weird. I also think that by “going legit” and doing runway shows, leatherwork, tailoring etc. it leaves a lane for more streetwear oriented stuff like this. But then finally there’s no question it’s aesthetically very similar to ERD so if that means it feels like a ripoff and you’re not interested I def can’t argue
