Welcome to the world of DIRTY LOOPS, they are JONAH NILSSON on vocals and keyboards, HENRIK LINDER one of today's great bass players, and the very underrated AARON MELLERGARD on drums. The boys are Swedish and classically trained. you get great bass and drums in all their tunes start with the unbelievable WORK SHIT OUT ( the studio video not the live video) , ROCK YOU , WORLD ON FIRE, HIT ME, if you like a slow ballad you've got to watch Jonah singing BREAKDOWN. CORY WONG (Chinese/American) is the guitarist with the horn section. DIRTY LOOPS AND CORY WONG do an unbelievable version of Michael Jackson's THRILLER, and from the same studio recording the unbelievable instrumental TURBO. Dirty loops recorded their part in Stockholm and Cory and the band recorded their part in Minneapolis. 3 great instrumentals from dirty loops with strange titles SONGS FOR LOVERS COFFEE BREAK IS OVER, and also with just HENRIK on bass and AARON on drums SONGS FOR LOVERS BITTEN BY THE KITTEN and SONGS FOR LOVERS OLD ARMANDO HAD A FARM . They have a lot of funny credits at the end of their videos, old Armando has cows , pigs , sheep ect. The boys are managed by the legendary QUINCY JONES. Dirty Loops and Cory Wong are both awesome in their own right. Together, they run the risk of causing the universe to explode! I truly hope Dirty Loops does a US tour soon! Cory Wong is currently touring the US and has Victor Wooten along. Very worthwhile seeing them. Very much musician's musicians.
Dirty Loops is playing here with Cory Wong, an amazing artist himself who also plays with another awesome band named Vulfpeck. Going to Dirty Loops’ concert this april and to Cory Wong’ concert in october, watching them perform together is just mind blowing

Yea, for vulfpeck, checkout the videos from the Madison Square Garden concert, especially the song Cory Wong, plus Back Pocket and Deantown. The whole concert is on UA-cam as well.
And since we are talking about two of my favorite bands these days, I’ll mention my third: Snarky Puppy. Everybody starts with Lingus, which has the best key solo of the last 20+ years, but also Shokufan. The new album is pretty amazing as well.

OOh this rabbit hole is deep John !! They are just freaking awesome - any track you pick will be a good one !! The rhythm section is outstandingly talented... Henrik for me plays like Eddie Van Halen but on bass.....we won't even talk about Jonah... I love that they chose a brass section for the live, those guys must have had the best session ever.... Work Shit Out, World on Fire, Breakdown, Coffee Break is Over... the list is endless. Thank you so much for covering Dirty Loops. One interesting note on the video you just covered. Dirty Loops recorded their portion in Sweden while Cory Wong and his horn section recorded their part in Minnesota. The drummer Aaron does all of the video editing for all of their videos. DL and Cory Wong did a whole albumn colaboration without even meeting in person. It is called "Turbo" and there are 3 more videos from that colab. Turbo the song is insane and totally instrumental, then they did a cover of MJ's Thriller and then a song called Rings of Saturn. I can't wait to see you go down the DL rabbit hole. i found them about a year ago and can't get enough.

I don't think I'll ever tire of that song. It's my go-to pick-me-up on bad days, and my happy song on good days, and no matter how many times I've listened to it, I still find little details I haven't heard before. It is such a ridiculously good song and performance. 🤩

John, you left us Dirty Loops fan hanging. There is so much more for you to check out. Work Shit Out, World on Fire, and Breakdown are all good choices. I know you have a lot of fans that expect a lot out of you and I respect that. However us DL fans would love it if you throw us a bone once in a while.😅
Since you mentioned you don't really know Cory's work. Check out his main project. "Vulfpeck". Probably the greatest straight up funk band in the world right now. I'd start with Dean Town as a good first song. Especially since you seem to like bass players. Joe Dart is a beast. Totally different kind of bass player. But it's like someone plucked a funk bassist out of the 70's and implanted it into Joe's hands
You should check out another absurdly talented musician (coincidentally ‘discovered’ by Quincy Jones, who ‘discovered’ Dirty Loops): Jacob Collier. He composes/arranges/performs/produces and wins grammy’s!!
I suggest “Don’t You Worry ‘bout a Thing”, as this was the one QJ first saw.

Hey man. Another suggestion. You're a metal guy but you also are a musician and appreciate awesome talent. I haven't seen it and may have overlooked it, but you haven't done a Haken reaction yet? By the way, I'm smitten with Dirty Loops. You hit the nail on the head. The vocalist/keyboardist is a man of the 80's and 90's. It's his soul and you can see and hear it. I believe Aron and Hendrick are the ones who bring it all together to modernize their sound. They are a new genre and the face of MODERN jazz/pop/R&B/fusion/pop AGAIN than jazz again. Just killer! they are session players from Sweden. Debut was in 2011. They rip it up. Cory Wong (guitar) is from Vulfpeck. He has the best wrist in the business. Check out their stuff as well. The horn section here is from Cory's band who is on tour as I type.

For me, the Swedes create and play fusion funky. Their technique and imagination are unbelievable. Everyone's jaws drop. But I checked their channel and I don't see anything new. Maybe they're making an album?
