Please make more builds like this. For us older gamers, who find it harder and harder to handle FPS mechanics as our reaction times slow down, it's fun to have alternative ways to play Bethesda games. And with no VATS in Starfield, it's hard to survive in firefights with my arthritic hands trying to manipulate the controller!
Starfield can be real harsh in firefights. The DPS can get crazy at times. I'm currently looking at how to make the toughest character possible, as I've noticed so many enemies who can just kill the player character in a second or two. In the meantime I would like to make a few more non combat focused builds but need to get the hang of outposts first
For what it's worth my Grandad was a Diplomat for nearly 30 years after his service in the Royal Navy (including in the Korean War). Quite a lot of diplomats came from the military (Navy being the Senior Service) & quite a lot of diplomacy actually took place over dinners & drinks. Diplomats also tended to get involved in charities (my Grandad doing House Building & Football related charity work in Africa) as a way to both learn and expand their reach. Hunting was a common thing so Rifles, Shotguns & Pistols were used by Diplomats when called upon. As for ship name... for a Brit the premier diplomatic ship was none other than HMY Britannia but many names like Drake, Empress of Britain etc have been used (many other countries have/had them too but other names). Clothing was normally a simple suit & tie but the White Tie & Dress Uniforms all had many uses. Having armed bodyguards (follower) was quite commonplace, especially in Africa in the 60s/70s where my Grandad (with my young mum) escaped an uprising in Cameroon thanks to his armed escort being tipped off that it was happening.
Having pacifist focused builds is a fun shift, hard to keep interesting though. Still great build and backstory! Also, my suggestion for the ship name is the Vox Box.
I think you should try making a chef build. It's pretty fun and there are a lot of buffs from the later foods. Maybe for an additional challenge you could only use food to heal. I'd say Mickey Caviar and the chunks special sauce quest are pretty important parts of the playthrough as well. I have a chef character of my own named Master Chef.
I tried a chef build in the past and it didn't work well. While food items do have a few nice buffs here and there, by and large they aren't anything really incredible. The healing as well is also super low so not the best help there, and starting with melee as one of the skills gets even more of a niche position
Love this build. The EM weapon is a great choice. Could also throw some melee skills in for a jedi like feel, but more for the defence you gain with them. The ship looks awesome!
Great minds. I just started a physicist character a couple of days ago. Not having any main quest lines that align with an honest goodie two shoes pacifist character is kind of a downer. I hope we see opportunities in the future that allow for game progression without the need for investment in specific skill trees. Currently, every character needs to be more or less a jack of all trades. I made it to like level 5 without boost pack training. Without physical or combat skills, as much as I don't want to use one, it's just a requirement.
I would like to see the DLCs provide routes for various types of characters. Feels like the Constellation quest in the main game really is a taste of all different playstyles more so than allowing various approaches
Did give a chef build a try when the game first came out but didn't work out particularly well. Surveyor and trucker definitely could be good ones to go for that don't focus on combat (but still could allow it a little) For a Farmer feel like there'd need to be a big update to the game to make that really work but fingers crossed
My diplomat character is now at level 32 with all four perks in Social Persuade at 50% - drinking Chardonnay adds another 12% and Formal Suit 5%. I'm finding I can get away with the riskiest speech options as high as +6 most of the time.
Dream home is annoying. You can't build outside so you can't setup a nearby pad for your ship instead find yourself having to run half way across the planet to where ship got parked.

That was a very interesting read, thanks for sharing
Good job making this work. I see a lot of people get frustrated and give up on non-combat starfield builds.
Also, keep the low-sodium content rolling!
Thanks!

I found that this was quite a good secondary character to play as. Good to jump in as whenever I wanted to slow things down and just take it easy

Loving your builds!
Thanks!

The ship looks awesome!
I have considered using melee weapons to make a tougher character. Would like to make a full tank character at some point
I love the persuasion checks. I found the easiest way for me to level it was just going to a bar and talking to random crew to half there rates.
Smart tactic! I really do like that they added a bit of a game to it all

Nice build. Looking to give this one a try today.
Hope you do!
You can decorate a home like that? Amazing.
I hope they'll give that option with the Elder Scrolls 6.
I imagine Bethesda are going to do a fair bit of building stuff in all their future games
Great work, definitely the build I want to use 🤝
Go for it!
More peaceful ideas:
A farmer, a surveyor, a cook, a trucker.

Damn, I typically just try and stick with yellow and green but it does always feel good when a red check passes
Super build 👌!
Thanks 😀
Huge tip for the nuerocom
It's something which the game never really seems to point you towards
Nice build, a lovely take on how not to be a murderhobo.
It can be quite difficult not to end up as that in Starfield but I'd like to try a few more builds which take this route
Diplomatic Immunity has just been revoked.😂😂😂
uh oh

I really hope that they add a building area outside of it. Would love to decorate the exterior a little as well
