I like it. Not the typical shoot 'em up, max all the combat skills and boost pack build with a dogfighting ship. I may be biased her story is similar to my own character, though mine flew transport for the FC 1st. ( Soldier, Spaced, Taskmaster, Empath)
Totally gonna make my character look like default Shepard and try my best to make the Normandy in the Ship Builder Edit: The adoring fan is basically your Conrad Verner after all
Unless I missed it did you not take the system targeting skill for ships? I always read that’s pretty much mandatory for ship fighting. Did you have any issues with hostage rescue missions or anything like that?
I did not take that skill. It's certainly a worthwhile skill to get but I've managed without it. Think I've only done one hostage mission but went fine, I'm not actually certain if you can blow up ships that you're quest bound to board. Only tested it with main mission stuff though so could be different for radiant quests
It's only good for piracy or if plot demands ship boarding. Personally I put points in ship ballistics and ship lasers. The downside to system targeting is that while the ship don't shoot back(much) other enemy ships will. Had to break a target lock many a time because enemy ships just started to just wail on me. My rules for space fighting- 1) Take out the highest level ship first and work backwards. In a lot of games it's the fodder that's the true threat because of sheer numbers but not here. Most of the fodder in Starfield's space battles is just that - fodder. 2) Pick two ship weapon skills and stick with them. Filling the latter third slot isn't really necessary. 3) Be VERY VERY careful when trying to help UC or Freestar navy ships in battle. One stray shot on your part and the least they will tell you stand down and be fined. At the worst they'll try to blow you out of space. 4) Ship targeting tactics - 1) If you're going to to do a lot of boarding then invest in EM weapons and skill. All too often it's hard to find the right balance between just damaging the ship and blowing it up with regular weapons. EM weapons will remove a lot of the guess work. 2) Proper order to wreck ship systems 1) Grav 2) Weapons 3) Shields 4) Engines So why is 2 and 3 reversed? WELL. . .even if a ship is dead in space but still has functioning weapons doesn't mean the enemy won't use them when you try to get to docking range. . .it's basically the cornered/injured animal rule and the enemy will try to live up to that trope to surprising affect if the ship weapons work. 3) Learn to barrel roll and Tokyo Drift with boost and thrusters(if you have Piloting unlocked).
I put 2 points in targeting just so I can suppress fire and when I want to retain a ship. I have 3 power to misslies on my 3rd slot. Slots 1 & 2 are auto turrets I power up to max when I'm attacked. That's 8 guns when I need them, 4 if I want some speed and as always, 1 into the grave drive if it gets to dicey. I've been using the largest shield I can run at maximum power, upgrading as I progress. Power down the auto turrets outside of combat and there's oodles of power on hand.
I love this build but Blackbeard who is the name of my Crimson Fleet character can’t wait to make the commander walk the plank or just steal her ship and sell it.

I always like to give a bit of variety with my builds, so should be seeing plenty more outside the norm in the future
Great video as usual
Thanks!
My dyslexic brain thought that this was the commoner
That might be a build one day, will have to see how many I end up making
Totally gonna make my character look like default Shepard and try my best to make the Normandy in the Ship Builder

I imagine there's a lot of people out there who've been doing something similar

@@BADCompanySarge Good to know! Ranking that skill up is very annoying. Great video BTW.

Pirate characters would be her go to for fighting
Am I the only one who sees the Space Scoundral background as the "Han Solo" background?
Seems fitting
The technically not guilty does not inspire confidence.
I mean, she did fight in the battle and kill people, can't exactly deny that
The worst? Come on, with all the main companions that all criticize you for all that you do, the adoring fan brings a breath of fresh air.
That's.... actually a fair point
