I like Dio Disciples, but most of all, I respect them, they KNOW and they publicly stated that they ARE NOT Dio, and that´s great, because they want Ronnie´s music to live on, but in any case, Ronnie´s no more, the god of Metal passed away. R.I.P. Ronnie.
@TCraigGoldy You are carrying the torch for everyone who got picked on by trolls like these who are slinging shit at you now. I am thankful you guys who spent so much time with Ronnie are keeping it alive for those of us who love him. Ronnie's music was there when I was bullied, alienated, and so were you. You are doing great man, don't worry about youtube trolls. UA-cam is easier to get than a life, that's all. Peace man!
I don't understand all this negativity that's going on in this comment section. The Ripper is a monster, yeah he can't be an exact replica of Ronnie, but he doesn't have to. When he was singing in Judas Priest he did a better job than the already too old Halford, and he is a great vocalist. I personally loved his performance here. It's stupid to even compare him to Dio himself, he is not here to replace Ronnie he is here to honor him, and he is doing so by performing Dio's songs with his personal flavour of metal. People just don't like nice stuff these days, everything is bad in the era of the internet.
Vocally, arguably the two hardest boots to fill in HM are those of Halford and Dio, that one man could do such a good job at both is pretty impressive. Hope one day Iommi and Butler take note, Heaven and Hell reform with Ripper on vocals?
Come on!!! To sing Dio's songs is no picnic for anyone!!! Once, i've heard (believe it's in yotube) Bruce Dikinson singin Rainbow in the dark with him!!! It was kind of embarissing but Dio Helped him!!! THERE IS NO ONE to do what that man did. He was the Pelé of voice!!!
@diomagic7. Yes, Ronnie would be turning over in his grave knowing that his old bandmates wanted to form a TRIBUTE band to pay respect to his legacy. Actually, Ronnie would be incredibly FLATTERED and humbled - as he ALWAYS was.
Is no one getting this ?!?! Ive been a Dio fan from before the beging ! Craig and the boys are some very dedicated musicians that can play n sing,I wish I could bang out all them riffs! It's not to be a dead ringer for Ronnie himself it's a tribute to Ronnie you numb nuts .And it's the best we are gonna get ! Saw you at donington ,you rock and thank you. Keeping the legend alive and very much kicking ! Rip Ronnie x
Wild... two Craig Goldie performances I just watched in a row where the guitar crapped out. Sometimes the machinery just can't handle the pure musical power of a Dio tune!! >:)
Keeping Dio's music live in the world! screw all the negative comments. Tim payed his dues and does the best he can. He's not trying to be Ronnie, he just loves the music and is keeping it going.
To have this is MAGIC. Thank you Tim Owen, you have the DIO magic and Love! Craig Goldy, you have left us with nothing more than absolute MAGIC. Simon Wright, again you are a beast, forever SOLID! Scott Waren,Forever a place to give us feeling! MAGICA!!
Also, I like the two vocalist concept, it actually results in the songs sounding more like the album, as oftentimes metal vocalists multitrack themselves. I actually really liked the other singers take on the songs, with Ripper adding vibrato'd highs behind him better than when Ripper had the lead.
@TCraigGoldy hey man,as long as you are doing O.K. is all that matters. This sounds great man.Don't worry about what these people aka trolls say on here.REAL DIO fans appreciate anything DIO-related.We love you guys,we are just proud that you are still going on.RIP Ronnie.\m/*_*\m/
good for anyone that follows in the footsteps of the master. those of us that call ourselves DIO fans have no hate but rather all love for those to are in the same way as us. . that is the Master's way . I follow Dio!
These guys are badass. Ripper does a fantastic job. I saw these guys last year and loved them. I'm going tomorrow night to see them at Ripper Owens "Taphouse" in Akron. Can't freakin' wait.
These singers were quite good but when you think back of the Dio live shows, it's amazing how Dio just never seemed to sing ONE note off pitch. These guys sang many out of tune notes so I'm not sure if it's these guys or if .... Dio was just that good. Goldy ripped, tho. Prob why Vivian C. bashes this event. HAHA
Ronnie WAS just that good. Raw power, natural talent and command. Made it look easy, the bugger. His technique was second to none. His voice was just delicious. Voice of a fallen angel.
Man this is amazing. Thank you sooo much for uploading this. God I cant wait till they do a stateside run. Its so awesome that Tim and the boys are doing this and that Wendy wanted to give this to us. We are blessed that even though Ronnie is gone these guys are still giving us his work.
Listening this for the first time breaks me in two parts...... I truly love what Tim does along with the rest of the band, it sounds like they really tribute this to my master of Fantasy Metal. Then again it feels cheap.... I don't want to pick a side, I love what they do. it sounds amazing! Though the Dio studio stuff will Always be what I lived by.. Gotta love Ronnie, he's the one and only. R.I.P. Ronald Padavona, forever with those who love you !! \m/
Is very good to see Mr Owens on stage... more mature! There is a lot of emotion in this songs. He is better now! I loved to see the best singer of our time singing songs from the best singer of all time. We Brazilians love you Mr. Owens! Mr. Ripper Owens: GIVES US METAL!!!
Why do we care who plays what ? They play Dio, it sounds like Dio... without his magic, they know this... They work hard to give us (the Fans) what we want. I love these guys, one by one, love them, AWESOME SHIT !!!!!!
Way to be there Pol!!! thanks!!!...i thought is that Jeff Pilson??? ...and was he touring with Dio's Disciples?? ..i heard he was for awhile, but BIG THANKS for setting me straight...i don't know why but i haven't followed them much since Ronnie past away,,i better follow more closely..maybe they come to Seattle! \m/
I saw a video of where Aldrich's tuning was C# standard. I doubt Coverdale or any vocalist who primarily sang @ A=440Hz would request go that low to A=369Hz. Ya he may have wanted to go lower to sing easier usually a half step to A=415Hz or so. Some singers don't know what tuning their guitarists are using regardless how famous they are, they sing to whatever is there. Many are not educated in musical details & just sing. Happens a lot if a guitarist is in multiple bands with different tunings.
Ripper is one of the best Metal vocalists out there, and these guys rock, the only thing not cool is the video audio quality, if you would have been there it would probably been epic
So, you'd rather the band of Ronnie's own former bandmates/friends that play his songs to fans (who themselves would rather hear them from experienced Dio band members than one of the countless local amateur tribute acts) who enjoy hearing them did not exist, and rather the songs never be performed again? Simply because Wendy authorized the band shouldn't be enough to discredit to the band itself. Clearly they are making the fans happy, or they wouldn't attend the shows.
Seriously, these type of comments make no sense what so ever. This is the same as saying that when a car is build poorly you can't comment on it because you can't do it any better. Actually Julian is right. Tim is an okay singer, but he isn't coming close to Dio. So basicly, if you don't have anything usefull to say then just close your mouth hole and walk away.
I kind of have to side with Audiophine Tubes. I give Ripper kudos on how he is able to step in and get the job done yet not really having that extra "it" to actually fill the shoes of those he is filling in for. One positive note here, he makes me miss Ronnie all the more if that is possible.
Hell yeah... Ripper fucking rocks!!!!! And for the haters on here.. You do know he fronted the almighty JUDAS PRIEST.. and when Rob Halford decided to come back.. he joined ICED EARTH.. and he now rocks with Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force
This kind of singing must be really hard for a singer to do night after night. RJD was a very special singer. WHat this song makes so clear is maybe the reason why Dio Disciples have two singers.
I was expecting more. But then again Dio is one of my all time favorites. I've actually heard better cover bands, which is strange given the line-up here.
Same here. We have a local band doing a Dio tribute night once a year, playing all this old stuff with several local "metal celebrities". They put up a show far better then this, play the songs more accurate and most of the singers they invite are far closer to Dio then Ripper is - and treat the material with far more respect. However, on the other hand, I heard Dio Disciples on the Bloodstock Festival and they were FAR better then in this video. Maybe they just had a bad day?
Addition to my last comment: I will grant though that Ripper isn't the greatest singer in the world of course, and some of his falsetto these days is pretty rough. But I mean, he has the range and can maintain fairly well. He certainly isn't terrible
Perhaps they are doing this just becuse it's fun to and they want to pay tribute to Dio. Ripper is a great singer doing this his way. Must be Craig Goldy on guitar! Cool!!
I'm in N.E Ohio & 2 of my friends are in Rippers band Beyond Fear. I just don't think he sings Dio well. I like a lot of his projects & work, but the Dio thing & being detuned on some songs that should be higher in pitch just doesn't work for me. Disciples came about simply because he was managed by Wendy & it is a money thing. Doug Aldrich's detuning made Coverdale sound very bad live on some videos as well. Some ppl & bands sacrifice tone trying to be heavy after a certain point.
Tim sounds pretty good here almost as good as Dio.I wonder if he sings Evil Eyes as good as I do,gonna look for that it's not here and that's Dio's best song.
What is the whole story with Wendy? I read an article recently with Craig Goldie and he talked about them living apart and Wendy living with another guy. I like a lot of Dio fans just assumed they were married all these years.
people bitching about Dio in 3.2.1 why are there people saying that ripper owens is replacing dio? DIO (the band) is dead. yup, inhale, exhale come on :) Dio disciples is a "tribute" band just that it is formed by ex DIO's members, yes. that's all I take any day a Dio cover than a metallica one for example. Stop bitching Oh, and to those crying about ripper voice, you should check some judas priest songs with him, he is not bad, not a bit. if you want kind of dio's voice listen Astral Doors
I liked Dio cover for the original Ronnie in vocal , because he's going and Dio band to , this 's a only tribute , that's ok , but is a only tribute (Y)
I like Dio Disciples, but most of all, I respect them, they KNOW and they publicly stated that they ARE NOT Dio, and that´s great, because they want Ronnie´s music to live on, but in any case, Ronnie´s no more, the god of Metal passed away. R.I.P. Ronnie.

+Georgi Uzunov Listen to Live Insurrection before saying Halford was too old for the job.
Georgi Uzunov Absolutely
It's not about trying to be or being an exact replica, it's about he's one dimention. He doesn't seem to know to adapt to songs. And energy.
Tim and Yngwie's version of Mr Crowley. Now THERE'S a cover that's way better than the original.
Vocally, arguably the two hardest boots to fill in HM are those of Halford and Dio, that one man could do such a good job at both is pretty impressive. Hope one day Iommi and Butler take note, Heaven and Hell reform with Ripper on vocals?

A band full of metal veterans playing GREAT songs. Works for me.
Ripper doesn't get enough respect as a complete vocalist!!
Cheers from Texas!🤘
Thanks Tim Ripper owens for keeping Dio Music alive. We don't expect you to replace Ronnie, just keep the music alive!
Just saw the new Hellion Betrayer video with Simon Wright and Scott Warren. It's nice to see them doing original music again.
Also, I like the two vocalist concept, it actually results in the songs sounding more like the album, as oftentimes metal vocalists multitrack themselves. I actually really liked the other singers take on the songs, with Ripper adding vibrato'd highs behind him better than when Ripper had the lead.

From minute 19:58 to 20:12 (Stargazer), one of the most killing vocal duets I´ve heard in 30 years of hearing this glorious music.
These singers were quite good but when you think back of the Dio live shows, it's amazing how Dio just never seemed to sing ONE note off pitch. Its great a new genaration of fans get to hear these great songs perfomed live sadly Dio is gone but his legacy lives on forevermore.\m/

this is the way to keep legends alive.....they are disciples...
Ripper couldn't pay a better tribute to the master than this... What a performance!
TIM RIPPER IS GREAT! HE'S ALWAYS GOOD TO LISTEN TO.
Tim is doing a great job, I'm impressed.
this was really good. ripper owens is great, glad to see lomenzo was there too. thank you for uploadin this
Wow...like to see more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I almost cried when i heard them play last year
and in can see them again at wacken this year :-)
Love this vocalist , best performance of Dio songs when not sung by the master himself RIP
sounds good indeed '-'
Oh, this is so strange. But was nice find you in youtube. It's better than on the bus.
Why do we care who plays what ?
They play Dio, it sounds like Dio... without his magic, they know this...
They work hard to give us (the Fans) what we want.
I love these guys, one by one, love them, AWESOME SHIT !!!!!!
not too shabby, sounds real nice
I had no idea what so ever and I always considered myself a knowledgeable Ronnie James Dio fan. Thanks for the info.
Dio, the king, forever.
Ripper has been recording albums and touring in Yngwie Malmsteen´s band for some years now (I believe 5). He´s a doing a good job
Ripper, magnifico e fiel , como grande discipúlo, e sempre perfeito á frente de qualquer banda
Love the band, and i will always be a hardcore Dio fan, but no matter how "good" the singer, he will never have the same power or draw as Dio!
Are you KIDDING?! He BLOWS! He's 'bar band material'!
Smokin fuckin set! Good on ya Tim and Craig! Ronnie wouldn't be more proud...

Nothing but good words for Ripper!
@spinecraft Good shot game, but he doesn't "forget the real reason he's on stage", that's just his natural vocal range.
Ripper didn't replace Dio, this is a tribute band formed by WENDY DIO, Dio's wife, she wanted these guys to keep Ronnies music alive.
I LIKE !!!
Oh, so Lomenzo is in this band, good to see him arround again, I miss him in megadeth actually....
I like Ripper, but am I the only one who likes Jepson's voice more? At least for Ronnie's songs
Totally agree!
Very interesting & true observation.
So, you'd rather the band of Ronnie's own former bandmates/friends that play his songs to fans (who themselves would rather hear them from experienced Dio band members than one of the countless local amateur tribute acts) who enjoy hearing them did not exist, and rather the songs never be performed again? all good r.i.p. dio
I think Toby should have been full lead on Stargazer. Anybody else think Blue Murder's Valley of the Kings is a 'homage' to Stargazer?
Craig Goldie on guitar, James Lomenzo on bass
The Stargazer part WOW
I was expecting more. But then again Dio is one of my all time favorites. I've actually heard better cover bands, which is strange given the line-up here.
Amen
Agree !

Ripper really can sing everything
Also, Robertson and Nicholls as "Southern Cross". Now, I'm waiting for some Tracy G's "celebration". ;D
@ 46:10 Tim shouts to the sky "Ronnie James Dio" horns in the air...the audience reciprocates. Watch again...
Fuckin awesome tribute to RJD!!🤘
'F my shit'? I love your 'trailer-speak'!
I would love to ride one of the rides at Magicaland but I would hate to be the last in line to do so.
Addition to my last comment: I will grant though that Ripper isn't the greatest singer in the world of course, and some of his falsetto these days is pretty rough. But I mean, he has the range and can maintain fairly well. He certainly isn't terrible
@spinecraft you don't know what you're talking about, I saw craig goldy cryning onstage in a show
RIPPER IS THE BEST!!! A BEAST!!!
Perhaps they are doing this just becuse it's fun to and they want to pay tribute to Dio. Ripper is a great singer doing this his way. Must be Craig Goldy on guitar! Cool!!

First time seen. That bald bloke is a much better singer. Rob And Dio all in one class love him. Hi England
Ripper (who you call the bald dude, heh) sang in Priest between 1997-2004 (was dismissed around April) and Rob and Dio are his prime influences.
What is the whole story with Wendy? I read an article recently with Craig Goldie and he talked about them living apart and Wendy living with another guy. I like a lot of Dio fans just assumed they were married all these years.
HUm ,, Nice But ,,, I cry four Dio !!!!!!
If somebody looks at a rusty car and says "look at that piece of shit" you reply with "can you build a better one?" Didn't think so.
people bitching about Dio in 3.2.1 why are there people saying that ripper owens is replacing dio? DIO (the band) is dead. yup, inhale, exhale come on :)

look where we met mr Bracho
Tim "ripper" Owen best vocalist in the world ever
@Warthogfan
James Lomenzo is correct. =-)
have some respect he filled in for Rob Halford of JudasPriest he he can do Halford very damn well Dio is hard for anyoen on earth to recapture
i nearly came at 18 min ... damnnn
I liked Dio cover for the original Ronnie in vocal , because he's going and Dio band to , this 's a only tribute , that's ok , but is a only tribute (Y)
BAD DAY FOR RIPPER..NOT HIS STYLE...BUT REMEMBER HIM WITH PRIEST ..HE ROCKED THAT SHIT!!
What's this .exe file instead of a torrent file from the link at the end of the descruiption ? a virus ?
James Wright - former Megadeth member
THATS JAMES LOMENZO ON BASS .. FROM WHITE LION, PRIDE AND GLORY AND MEGADETH AMONG OTHERS
Richie Blackmore is a GOD !
this drummer sucks :p
I think the guitarist is the drawback of the band. He is like a robot.
