Don Johnson was a highly underrated singer. For a guy who was an actor, he sounded pretty good. Much better than any of the slack ass singers of today.

Were you around when the song was released? He certainly did get the credit he deserved. It was a Top 5 hit in America and in a lot of other countries, and he was named "best new vocalist of 1986." It was in heavy rotation on MTV and radio stations for some time. The Heartbeat album was certified Gold and he had some pretty legendary musicians play on the record (besides Dweezil -- Stevie Ray Vaughn, Ron Wood of the Stones, Willie Nelson, Bill Champlin of Chicago, and Dickie Betts to name a few).

    • @jeremydragon-shapeshifter
      @jeremydragon-shapeshifter 5 місяців тому +3

He had one more hit, which was "Till I Loved You" with Barbra Streisand, peaking #25 on Hot 100. His second album "Let It Roll" failed to chart here in the States while was successful in Europe. So he was a one album wonder whilst a two hit wonder in the States. If anyone else who does not get enough credit, that would be Jennifer Rush, who would cover "Till I Loved You" in UK. Her only hit here in the States was "Flames Of Paradise" with Sir Elton John.

He can sing, to some degree, and this technically proves it, but does he have a “rock” voice, no. He should have done some broadway shit, instead. But actors are never known for their humility, or their ability to see the bigger picture, now are they…

This is a set of lyrics, by a different artist at that time, which is better?
      Oh, mother, I can feel
The soil falling over my head
And as I climb into an empty bed
      Oh, well
      Enough said
      I know it's over, still I cling
I don't know where else I can go
      Over
      Oh, mother, I can feel
The soil falling over my head
See, the sea wants to take me
The knife wants to slit me
Do you think you can help me?
Sad veiled bride, please, be happy
      Handsome groom, give her room
Loud, loutish lover, treat her kindly
Though she needs you more than she loves you
And I know it's over, still I cling
I don't know where else I can go
Over and over, and over and over
      Over and over
      I know it's over
      And it never really began
But in my heart it was so real
And you even spoke to me and said
      If you're so funny
Then why are you on your own tonight?
      And if you're so clever
Then why are you on your own tonight?
      If you're so very entertaining
Then why are you on your own tonight?
      If you're so very good-looking
Why do you sleep alone tonight?
      I know
'Cause tonight is just like any other night
That's why you're on your own tonight
With your triumphs and your charms
While they're in each other's arms
It's so easy to laugh, it's so easy to hate
It takes strength to be gentle and kind
      Over, over, over, over
It's so easy to laugh, it's so easy to hate
It takes guts to be gentle and kind
      Over, over
      Love is natural and real
But not for you, my love
      Not tonight, my love
      Love is natural and real
But not for such as you and I
      My love
      Oh, mother, I can feel
The soil falling over my head, oh
      Mother, I can feel
The soil falling over my head, oh, oh
      Mother, I can feel
The soil falling over my head
      Mother, I can feel
The soil falling over my head
      Oh, mother, I can feel
The soil falling over my head
      Oh, mother, I can feel
The soil falling over my head

Never knew Dweezil Zappa done this song with DJ. Finally after 8 years of owning GTA 5 I played through it and this song kept sticking in my head. Thanks Rock Star.

Don played a positive and pivotal role in my teens growing up.
Those were the days man!!! Bring em back anytime.
    So needed!
So fortunate to have experienced that era.
    The golden era without TECH.
Don and sly Stallone made the 80s for me

I couldn't agree more. I became a cop because of Miami Vice. The 70's was calm, peaceful and easy going. However the 80's decade exploded on to the scene and lasted
      10 YEARS. 😃😃😃
