A second gen dodge built the way dodge should have built it. Im really happy to see this! Those gm bumpers look amazing on that dodge! Truly a work of art. Love your builds 💪
They had engineers around the days of when Eagle and Jeep were a separate division that would have built it like this. That's how the Wrangler and Cherokee had been updated by that division: just updated to fuel injection and started modernizing the suspension and transmissions. Transfer case also got updated and rolled out as well just before they got rolled into the truck division and started to get ignored, like they had never made something that was durable and in demand. Yeah, Jeeps are so hard to sell even though they lasted forever Mr. CEO and Head of Marketing.
I prefer the sport bumpers or a Buckstop for something more HD, but I agree that the 4th gen bumper swap is over hyped and overdone. It doesn't look bad IMO but I wouldn't do it myself.
@@jesushinojosa1461 I kind of thought they looked good when people first started doing it but now the more I look at them the more I dislike them. I’d love an armored bumper with a winch but unfortunately haven’t found one I light the looks of. Ranch hand can look good on the right truck but most of the armored bumpers are just too fat and hang down to low
Yes you nailed it on your opener talking about the steering components on trucks like that. It’s usually never just one thing that’s worn it’s everything that’s worn a little bit and that’s where the vibrations and wobble come from. If you replace one part of it do everything because it all needs it if you realize it or not.
Edison is exactly where the auto industry should have been 30 years ago. Trains, shipping, cranes, all running diesel electric. I look forward to finding a classic late 70's 350 3500 series to pull a 5th wheel in retirement. Not filthy, not rich. Heck yea. makers do!
Since this is a type of prototype show truck.. If that engine has a regular alternator (which I can see that it does)-- you guys should install a "premier power welder".. It replaces the alternator with a special higher output alternator, and then comes with a little control box where you hook up your welding leads. Super simple and reliable. All the offroad tow trucks use them and they weld like a champ; and they are well under two grand. They even have a spool gun to go with it for another four hundred or so. That would give this thing that much more utility and show it off even better. Perfect for a prototype.
Boost Auto really does have quality stuff and everything I’ve gotten there has been easy plug and play with zero issues. Also a big shout out to Tom Yang🤜🏻

I know you have a lot on your plate. But was really looking forward to the small boat project and the K-car station wagon project. Guess they will happen sometime. Maybe never. You will likely do what ever you are interested in. Thanks for doing what you.
Another cool project from your garage. Great to see the success you're enjoying, keep it up! Keep it honest when you're boosting the sales guys. Those mirrors aren't "solid", looking forward to seeing how they vibrate on the road.
Ive always wanted to see someone turn a Ram into newer version of the old Ram Charger, Durangos just don't cut it. But a larger Ram SUV would make Excursion's look twice
This is a great project that I am very interested to see the final result. But I do have one concern, this being that I don’t necessarily think that a dyno is the best way to compare the two powertrains. For raw horse power fighters sure. But you were talking about comparing fuel combustion figures during the test. I don’t see how these figures would be relevant as dyno tests are by nature high power runs. In this situation most of the energy used would be coming out of the battery. Even if you could somehow remove the batteries out of the system for the run you still wouldn’t get a true picture as you would not be taking into account regen.
Front bumper looks great but I would stick with a stock rear bumper, then again I use a pickup as a pickup. I would rather find what are referred to as "California truck mirror" for the door mirrors as I am an old OTA driver. I like the 2nd gen though myself.
My daily is a 2001 ram extended cab long box. I have been watching this series with great interests. I would love to convert mine into a diesel electric but I think I want to keep the 20+ years of dents and scratches on it
Looks great and will be a very cool one off but I can't see very many trucks getting this conversion, it will be too expensive. Can you talk more about the numbers and how much this will cost.
I was trying to think of another diesel you haven't used and then Rover V8 came to mind. Might have made sense if you were just going to take it out anyways.
🇨🇦LOOKING GOOD,,, IMPATIENTLY WAITING FOR KITS TO BE AVAILABLE,,,JUST KIDDING WANT YOU TO DO A GOOD JOB OF TESTING FIRST THEN I WILL NEED SEVERAL KITS,,,I HAVE SOME IDEAS THAT MIGHT HELP WITH AXEL FITMENT BETWEEN ALL MAKES AND MODELS KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
I like how the back bumper looks, but I don’t like how the front one fits. Sticks out too wide on the sides and the swoop up under the headlights doesn’t line up with the inside edge of the headlights, and is overall too bulky looking for that style of truck. Looks like if it got cut down the center, shorten, then welded back together and then probably paint it body color. I think it would look a lot better. But that’s just my opinion.
Hey guys! I am going to eventually have a project truck (likely class 3) and I want it to be able to rear steer as I want crew cab and long bed. Do you know if I could just get 2 of your steer axles and put on on the back to accomplish that? would that be much harder to design for?
Would the e-axles work with a hummer, or work with a tandom 6x6? Hummers don't have a straight axle, and I think that's a requirement but I'm sure it could be fabricated
I know my opinion doesnt really matter, but I quite like the original gap between the new frint bumber and old grille. It's proportional and kinda looks factory, strategic airflow over all the coolers! But I think the gap at 14:17 looks good at least on camera anyways
I wonder how setups will vary depending on the vehicle. I want to have a service truck for electronics. So a GMC long contractor van would work for me. I need outlets to power a hot air station, fume extraction etc. Would you mount the engine in the middle behind the cabin and batteries under the engine bay? So you'd have easier access to the engine? Or traditionally and have a partition behind the cabin again for additional batteries or even a second gen set to power my tools in the back? I don't think they'd pull that much current, but they're mostly heating elements.
@@DEBOSSGARAGE I am very much looking forward to seeing the progress of all this. Maybe even working for Edison in the future!
