As a veteran, I'm amazed how things didn't scare me then, but they do now. I know the feeling man. I'm glad you're here though, I've been watching you for a few years now and trying the things you've showed me.
Thank you for all this and that. I know it's not much, but I appreciate you and your chats here.
As a vet who also lost a best friend while serving, I understand that "place" we get stuck in once in a while. I myself find myself hibernating during Veterans/Remembrance day as well as Memorial Day here in the states just to avoid all the "happy veterans day" comments and such to not get overwhelmed or getting stuck in my head on all the memories and moments. Also as that same person I can say, even though we may seem alone or trapped we are not alone. We just have to push through so those who are with us in that fight can see and follow us out as well. Take care. Look forward to seeing this project when finished. My home brew world has a lot of mash/swamp areas so always looking forward to more ideas and inspiration.
I’m so sorry to hear the black dog has roused back up from sleep. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
It is always sobering to hear veterans talk about the things they’ve seen/experienced. Definitely an under appreciated part of what they endure - those things stay with them and they have to find ways (generally not recognized or supported) to go on about their lives while dealing with that. Thank you for your service. And thank you for your honesty about the ongoing mental health impact - there’s such a stigma about mental health, I’m certain that hearing folks like yourself talk about their experiences makes other people with their own challenges realize that they aren’t alone and there is nothing wrong with them for struggling with that or reaching out for help if needed.
Glad to see you back in the studio. Crack on!
The steps you take don't need to be big. They just need to take you in the right direction. Good to see you back :)
Brother, always glad to see you back. All the best in fighting the black dog. I'll always listen to you talk about the struggle, terrain, anything. I promise to always listen if you have a need.
Good to see ya, Mel. Better to hear you're taking on the ol' dog.
Good to see you again sir. I’m sorta a quiet follower of your channel for some time but I’ve always appreciated not only your scale modeling and diorama techniques, but your not afraid of addressing mental health which I think most(I definitely can lol)relate. I work on a psychiatric unit as a nurse in the veterans affairs hospital in US and while it’s rewarding, it’s also very sad at times to see the toll war has had on some folks. Anyway just like to say thank you for your service and all service men and woman in these comments and around the world. I’m sorry for your loss, but a kick in the rear haha, is sometimes what we need best. Be well and happy modeling!
Didn't know you served Mel..? Wow!
You as all the servicemen who have done their bit are remembered. As are those who have gone on by...
Thank you mate.
❤🤗
And as they say.
Chin up. 👍
You always get an instant thumbs up from me!!! I know it's not easy.... I'm dealing with ghosts from past. Stay strong.
Lol, same here, get the thumbs up, I hit play then thumbs up. It has been a win every time.
There is no expiration on grief. I've never served but I have lost fellow medics and police officers. Now as a nurse practitioner I have lost patients that I still think about. Grief never gets better it only gets easier. Im glad you were able to make this video. You never know who you made feel like they weren't alone in their grief by talking about yours.
Great to see you back Mel. Stick in Mate!!
Great Vid, Mate. Always enjoy you'r off-the-wall humor, much like mine. Cheers and good health to you.....🥂🥂
Mel! So glad to see you back! Always stoked to see a new video! I've battled depression my whole life ( I'm 53). Hang in there man. Yank the reins away from your brain. You steer for a while!
I've always loved a good swamp so definitely looking forward to seeing where this goes!
One step at a time, one day at a time. Best wishes and regards, Lexi.
You got this. You beat the black dog before. You will win again 💪
Always good to see ya Mel.
Big fan of all your videos and remembering to "Get stuck in" the project and not my head on things. Just give it a go and make the best of it :) I'm sorry for your loss and there is no shame in expressing your humanity for remembering your fallen friend. I've never served my country (US), wasn't allowed due to a birth defect....BUT I appreciate any/all active/vet for their service to keep the world a safer place. To all in the comments and you as well Mr Terrain Tutor, thank you for your service. Take care all and "Crack On" your adventures in the hobby :)
Sending love your way man. Never apologize for your feelings, its okay to feel sad and express sadness. We as men are taught to suppress any emotion but rage and that sucks so let it out if need be.
Good to see you back at the bench Mel! Such an inspiration. Howard
Love your videos Mel. Sorry the big black dog is particularly fierce lately. Lots of us have our own struggles but it's always great to see a new video from you! Cheers from Canada!
Happy to see you here :) We love you!
Head up Mel,the grass is always greener on the other side of the Black dog,It sounds like you've had it tough in your life, it's hard I know, but look at all the people that love you and your shows, your an inspiration to us all..☘☘☘
Mel, take care and don't pressure yourself too much. As I'm sure you know, going too fast and pushing yourself beyond what you're ready to actually do can be counterproductive. I have been in that place myself and it's really really hard. We are all always happy to see you, but don't feel the need to produce videos that are top quality. For now, showing us a piece you've finished without the pressure of filming it and doing a vlog style explanation of what you did might be easier for you. By the way, finally picked up a copy of your book this month. It's awesome, as I knew it would be. Look after yourself, know you're supported by us out here and be kind to yourself. You're a treasure to us.
Hello Mel! Great to see you! Been getting back in the work shop myself for the first time in many many months. Hope things continue to improve for you. All the best, cheers.
Good to see you, Mel.
Greetings from western Washington State, USA! Always glad to see a new video from you. Be well. Happy holidays, and God bless!
I am glad to see you again.
Take care of yourself. 🙂
It's good to see you back again, Mel. I'm sorry about your mate; that sounds awful. Good luck with everything, you top bloke! :)
Mel!!! You’re back!!! 😊😊
Great to see you back in the studio Mel. We always look forward to seeing another vid from you.
Chain up the dog for a while and have some fun.
After all 'Life is short, and then you die,.' are not just words. We should all live life for the moment, and not allow the past to bury us, or let the future drag us to a halt.
You have my regards, and best wishes mate.
Keep fighting the dog, really enjoy your tutorials, learning a lot, thank you for making them,
So glad you're back! Great to see what you're working on, love the swap idea! Hang in there and take care of yourself! Making videos can be a lonely exercise as it's just the camera, but know we're out here and enjoying what you're doing and learning from what you accomplish!
Great to you back in the saddle again take cera 😊😊🤠🤠
Hi Mel ! back just in time for the main modeling season of crappy winter weather 👍
Always great to see you Mel!
Good to see you again, Bose!
About that tower: I do hope you make sure that it has burned down before it fell over and sank into the swamp ;)
Ni! Forever!
All the best Mel... love your work. Good luck mate!
Great to see you Mel.
Be Proud of this vid!!!! It was a hard one to let out!!! Keep on keeping on!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As a fellow Vet I understand you brother!

K.B.O.! Don't let them keep you down, soldier. ;)
Great to see you back.
"Hello in the comments"
😂
Kudos for picking yourself back up & soldiering on.
Remembrance/Veterans/Armistice Day is always a mixed bag of emotions.
"Thank you for your service." from a U.S. Navy nerd.
👍🏼
really great to see you back at it -
Good to see you back, mel!
Delighted to see you again :D
Good to see you back Mel, we worry about you mate, re the videos, how about going back to basics mate, foam board buildings etc, throw yourself into something totally you, almost a clean reset? Take care of yourself buddy, I know the black dog can lay you low, but remember we all wouldn't be here without you, hope that all makes sense.
Welcome back Mel!
Hope you are doing better with that damn Black Dog... I know the feeling buddy. Take Care!
What you cut off the large one, you can use in the "box"!!!
Be safe!
Good to see you back Mr B. The next time the Black Dog comes looking for you just lose yourself in the swamp. It cant get you there lol
Good to see you again Mel. Keep at it!
Hey Mel, glad to see you!
With the Altar of Evil, when you talked about tying it in with the green glow on the skulls, I had the thought that it would look really cool to have some of the green goup dribbling out of the eyes of the skull pillars!
Hope the black dog takes a hike over the hill soon, Mel. You've been an inspiration to me as I'm diving into crafting wargame terrain. Good luck, mate!
You got this mate. Put one foot in front of another and repeat.
Not served but have PTSD after having a stranger pass away in my arms after a hit and run. On the anniversary my head dips for a while. This time around it's been about 2 months and only now getting my head back in the game.
I've probably got some of the city of death stuff spare you can butcher. Will message you on FB if I find it.
Not first! Good to see you again :)
Love it. Thank you
When I first came here, this was all swamp. Everyone said I was daft to build a castle on a swamp, but I built in all the same, just to show them. It sank into the swamp. So I built a second one. And that one sank into the swamp. So I built a third. That burned down, fell over, and then sank into the swamp. But the fourth one stayed up. And that’s what you’re going to get, Son, the strongest castle in all of England.
I really appreciate your video ❤❤
Come back soon Mel!! 😊
We love ya, dude. Always look forward to your vids. That Pegasus alter looks sweet, have a Reaper Mini stone circle still in the box (you aren't the only one guitly of that ) that I'll try to do the same thing with. Thanks for the idea!!!
Welcome back again!
Go to hear your voice and see your face Mel, 100% agree your old mate would give you a supportive kick .... onwards and upwards mate ... Dean
Getting better, we hope. Come back at your own speed. And come back to Adepticon if you can.
Nice to see you back at it Mel, I know how bad the Black Dog bites at times. Been getting hounded (get it? 😉) by my own for quite a while.
Not really done any hobby work, more hobby adjacent stuff for sometime.
I did though manage to paint up my little resin Mel a while back, so you can oversee my desk when I work, kick me up the bum and be a useful scale reference too 😅
All the best bud, looking forward to seeing what you create again, take care
Thanks
Welcome back.
Its been a while hey?!
Stay safe and happy modelling
Mon
Always good to see you, Mel. Could you use the off-cut from the bottom piece for the top of the other piece? Take care, mate. And thanks as always for all you do.

Nice to see you back at it! Take all the time you need, we can wait.
Also if you get a bit distracted by Valheim, I totally understand. Started playing it recently and it really does pull you in, doesn't it?
Love the videos Mel, Hope you give the black dog a kick and stop him chasing for a bit. Loved the shorter video, would happily watch something this length again to give my own hobby drive a kick up the bum.
Stay Strong Legend!
Great to see you back Mel,know how you feel, for me it's from now till new year, hate this time if year, its when I was shot and 2 mates died in the blast, how do Americans say "friendly fire" rouge mortar from the yanks
