For all the Storm Eagle clones in the series, I think we can all agree that it's a good thing they aren't cloning Crystal Snail.
Metal Shark Player's name is weird because it is a mistranslation. He was supposed to be called Metal Shark Prayer, that's why he can "revive" old bosses
There were other names he could have been called like Hammerhead Technomancer for example.

Oh I can definitely see that, especially since Storm Owl was ranked second on his Top 15 Mavericks list, only losing to Magma Dragoon.
Flame Hyenard is easily the worst maverick of all time. He was already tedious to battle in the Japanese version, but he became a destroyer of eardrums in the American version as a bonus.
Infinity Mijinion is extremely close at second place. His duplication ability gets on so many peoples' nerves so easily and he can rack up so much damage with his clones.
My personal least favourites include:
X1: Sting Chameleon. His tendency to camouflage to make himself invisible also makes him invulnerable despite very clearly still being there, which can waste a lot of my time. DiVE's Jakob Elevator also makes the fight even more annoying by making you face two of them and they're not synced.
X2: Crystal Snail. The freezing attack and time slowing do little to hide that you're just dodging the same regular attack over and over until you either slip up or wittle him away. Given his stage has a Light capsule that doesn't require to finish Wheel Gator, it's also likely that you'll face him without his weakness.
X3: Byte*/Volt Catfish. Byte is far too simplistic for a boss that spawns this late in the game, especially because he comes after Bit. However, because he's not one of the main 8, I would give the title to Volt Catfish for being the worst case of stunlocking via weakness in the game.
X4: Jet Stingray. His mini stingrays are just small enough to fly under uncharged shots and neither weakness makes sense considering his attack pattern.
X5: Tidal Whale. His wall of spikes, enough said.
X6: High Max*/Blaze Heatnix. I'd argue that the alternate routes are still part of the main stages and High Max has the worst idea for a boss gimmick in the X series (but not the worst execution) due to being capable of rendering a stage unwinnable if you didn't input the UA code at the start of a new game. If that still doesn't cut it, Blaze Heatnix doesn't exactly have anything interesting going on, which is weird given the lore of him being a Gate Reploid deemed so dangerous that his killers had to make it look like he died in a Maverick raid.
X7: Skipped.
X8: Avalanche Yeti: Looks less like a yeti and more like a snowman. Aside from that, I don't have any bad things to say on the bosses themselves.

Crystal snail is at least easy! I had him as 2nd easiest in the whole series… sting chameleon is tough!
Volt catfish is the hardest maverick on the Super Nintendo.. very, very tough.

@@MarMaxGaming I did a few runs doing Chill Penguin last......the boots are prety much required in the game. Was fun going through the other 7 stages and beating their bosses without the boots.
@@johnhanzelyjr hell yeah, it’s a different type of challenge… especially when you don’t pick up any heart tanks, or use any weaknesses. I finished the dashless / no upgrades video btw, gives you another layer of appreciation for the game!
@@MarMaxGaming Loved the additional challenge with it. One thing I don't like about the armor upgrades, especially when you get them all....there's barely ANY color change when switching weapons. That's a trademark in the Mega Man series....and to reduce it to having almost no color change is not really good., in my opinion. I like a nice color change for each special weapon.

You should give some of the fan made games a chance if you haven't already. Mega Man Rock N' Roll is a great example of how Mega Man has some of the most well crafted and true to form fan games of any franchise

I still think wheel gator is the best stage to go for first because you can get buster upgrade early without wire sponge's weapon and if you use wire sponge's weapon he takes longer to beat because it forces him to go back into the water and I don't know why you would ever want him to do that.

X1: for me it's gonna be flame mammoth, who feels like the embodiment of the early mmx designs getting a bit too childish with all the colors that don't go well together and has a trunk that looks like anal beads. spark mandrill is also a dishonorable mention for looking like fruitcake, but his design is much better and the existence of spark mandrill syndrome makes me feel more justified in my strong distaste for the weakness mechanic.
X2: imma be honest, this roster is probably the most forgettable for me, but i guess i'll go with crystal snail since the baby blue on his portrait looks horrible, also, he's once again an example of the five-year-old-with-a-coloring-book design philosophy that i don't care for in that era of mega man
X3: neon tiger; while i like the idea of having a cat eye motif, the execution looks absolutely terrible to me, not to mention that it doesn't even come through in his spritework, his whole design is so bad to me that it almost becomes good
X4: initially i was gonna say storm owl, but the fact that he seems so respected and respectable, and generally not someone you mess around with despite his short and stout body type reads body positive to me, which is nice, so i guess that makes web spider the worst since he's just relatively bland even compared to slash beast, who is at least hot in official artwork and has a top-shaped torso (also yaay o(^▽^)o, you acknowledged my cp comment! thanks!)
X5: this roster is genuinely amazing to me since every maverick is simply cool, not to mention that there is not just one but *two* mavericks who embody the "just some dude vibing somewhere" archetype (duff and axl), that being said, there are two exceptions to this: that pegasus dude, who is forgettable, and dizzy, whose ties to wily feel a bit undercooked (though that may just be me not remembering his dialogue much), but he's not nearly as forgettable as the pegasus dude and the fact that his updated retranslated name has "necro" in the name is pretty metal.
X6: blaze heatnix had genuinely everything handed to him on a silver platter: a decent design, the best piece of music in the game, and being based on a mythical creature, but the fact that he fumbles it so badly that he'd be near the bottom either way cements his place beneath everyone in X6
X7: as much as i like this roster, i must admit that there are 3 mavericks that don't hold up to the rest: ride boarski, soldier stonekong, and wind crowrang. between these, boarski is the funniest (i had to stop multiple times the first time i fought him because i was laughing too hard at him repeating "you punk! you punk!" over and over, and i didn't even have to pause since that attack didn't require any effort to dodge past a certain point), soldier stonekong has big titties, and crowrang caws... yeah, crowrang's just too forgettable
X8: this is probably the most solid roster for me, with almost everything about almost everyone being good (barring stuff like the ill-fitting purple accents on bamboo pandamonium and the inexplicable hateability of burn rooster), but rock trilobyte is just a smidge more bland than everyone else
overall i'd rank these rosters: x8>x7>x5>x6>x4>x1=x3>x2
Tbh i think X3 and X7 roster are more forgettable for me than X2
Unlike the regular Mega Man series, I lack an emulator to play Mega man X2-8 I have the first and on the Final Boss fight. Have finished sigma because the rolling shield is the second-worst power in the game (Shotgun ice is just a worse version of crystal eye).

I want a MegaMan x2 hack where you play as green biker dude and MegaMan X gets killed in the intro
Or, make it a sort of prequel, detailing events leading up to X-2, and Green Biker Dude's exploits/accomplishments up until that fateful day.
In the finale of the game Green Biker Dude and X would stand amongst the destruction they helped cause, and share their thoughts, with them both solidifying their purpose and actions with justification, looking forward to a brighter future together..
Then the very next mission which leads up to X-2, Green Biker Dude dies and is immediately forgotten by X.

Megaman X3 - Volt Kurageil is so bad and forgettable that you actually forgot to talk about him, so he's going to get my vote. He's a Doppler stage boss that you only encounter if you're doing a completion run. However, he IS an animal themed Maverick, and his name follows the pattern (even if he's not electric in any way) so in my book he counts.

I didn't get around to commenting under the last video, so I'll give my *best and worst* Maverick from the eight main Mavericks of each Mega Man X game I've played: Mega Man X (original) through Mega Man X6. Someday, I'll be able to play the rest. ;) Reasoning for my picks will come after, but it usually means that neither style nor substance can save the character in my eyes. My opinions on these often shift, and random things like "Oh, this reminds me of [insert Pokémon]" can sometimes break ties. XD Since my first one has me clearly disagreeing with Tooterp, let me make it clear; the *best* is listed _before_ the *worst.*
*Mega Man X:* Storm Eagle/Boomer Kuwanger
*Mega Man X2:* Wire Sponge/Crystal Snail
*Mega Man X3:* Volt Catfish/Toxic Seahorse
*Mega Man X4:* Frost Walrus/Web Spider
*Mega Man X5:* Spike Rosered/Spiral Pegasus
*Mega Man X6:* Blizzard Wolfang/Shield Sheldon
There aren't really any duds in Mega Man X, but I'll give it to Storm Eagle. Good name, good look, good boss battle, and (from sources _outside_ of the game) he even has good characterization. Since my least liked (but still actually liked) has to be someone, I'll go with Boomer Kuwanger. I should love him; he's one of the insect Mavericks, he's got a glorious pun for a name, and using the Japanese should tickle my weeb-ness... but nope. When I first saw him, I knew even less Japanese (and I know only a few words as is), so giving him two arms and two legs (instead of getting him up to a total of six limbs), the limits of 16-bit graphics, and his attack pattern meant I thought he was a bull for many years! What, the mandibles looked like a moustache. In fact, if he had a 'stache, I'd have had to pick a different maverick! XD
Mega Man X2 is another game where there aren't really any duds, so the deciding factors might seem silly. Wire Sponge might seem odd, but it is because of him I learned of a kind of real life sponge (as in the animal) that has small tentacles that let it actually grab food near it. Sadly, thanks to Sponge Bob I have had zero luck doing web searches to get the species name. Crystal Snail is just "okay" among a group of greats.
Mega Man X3 is the one I mostly forget *except* for the fact you can partially play as Zero and Vile came back. The Mavericks aren't old favorites, though I don't hate them, either. Volt Catfish reminds me of Stunfisk; that counts for a lot. ;) Toxic Seahorse _should_ be my favorite (green is my fav color) but... he just doesn't look right to me.
Mega Man X4 is my favorite in the series, so this was pretty tough. Since I don't have a big, goofy guy winning any other games, I'll give it to Frost Walrus for my favorite. I like spiders and love robots, but Web Spider is no Blackarachnia.
Mega Man X5 might be my least favorite of the original six Mega Man X games but Spike Rosered is so good that I'll still call him Axle the Red with love and respect! As for the least favorite, this was harder than I thought; turns out I like this lot of Mavericks! Still, the Spiral Pegasus/The Skiver is rather "meh" for being based on a beloved mythical animal.
Compared to many, I have a soft spot for Mega Man X6, likely due to a very luck first playthrough way back when. I actually like most of these Mavericks, but my traditional favorite (Rainy Turtleloid because I like turtles) just isn't doing it for me. Overall, I had to give it to Blizzard Wolfang. Maybe he just reminds me of Jon Talbain (Darkstalkers) enough. As for least favorite, Shield Sheldon just feels... dorky.

I liked MMXCM. So who's the best Maverick in that game? I think Ferham was the best story boss, but Botos is absolutely contemptible.

For me, X2 is my favorite Mega Man game of all time and the X series didn't start to go downhill until X5.
Also, Blast Hornet is the worst from X3 because I hate wasps. A few years ago I got stung on the ass from out of nowhere by a ninja attack wasp while mowing the lawn.

Dark Mantis would be at home in a Kamen Rider series as the antagonist (or at least as an evil rival to the hero), akin to the dynamic of Kamen Rider Black & Shadowmoon.
Rainy Turtloid is either Blastoise from Pokémon or Draciel from the original Bakuten Shoot Beyblade...or maybe some unholy Yu-Gi-Oh fusion of the two. That said, your point about Blizzard Wolfang lookin' way too much like a regular enemy is a pretty interesting point. Maybe if he'd been a larger critter akin to Slash Beast (damn Slashman wannabe) or Crescent Grizzly/Grizzly Slash??
Another thing about Volt Kraken/Squid Adler, and he even indirectly confesses it himself: he's a wannabe Launcher Octopard/Launch Octopus!! (He's out for revenge cuz Octopus was his mentor) 😆😆🤣🤣🤪🤪

I have and enjoy Mega Man X Comand Mission. I love RPGs, and having one of my favorite platformers turned into an RPG made my day. We now have plenty of Mega Man "RPGs (Battle Network), but Command Mission was the first.....and the one with the most RPG mechanics. Love the story, too.

Ugly and Lamed Mavs (normally I stomp them 1st or 2nd): X1: Penguin, Mamoth； X2: crab, snail; X3: crawfish(this is the hardest 1st kill); X4: Spider, Mushroom, owl; X5: izzy and dizzy; X8: Antonion and trilobyte. They are ugly because they are less humanoid!

X1: Armored Armadildo
i wish he wouldn't spam the rolling move which i have trouble with, the only other move he has shooting easily dodged projectiles, but the real problem is that he's in X1.
X2: Morph Moth
again not a bad fight, but the one i turn my brain off the most.
X3: Volt Catfish
earns this spot purely for the 2nd phase, which is a nightmare for minimalist no weapons runners
X4: Split Mushroom
just kind of annoying, probably my favorite of the worst mavericks from each game since its still engaging to fight without feeling unfair, which says a lot about X4's roster
X5: Duff McWhalen
an alright fight, but i've died to this boss from getting pushed into spikes in 2nd phase which never fails to sour my mood, but even that's nowhere near as bad as his stage.
X6: Infinity Mijinion

X7: Snipe Anteator
not counting voice clips as they're not as bad in the JPN version, nothing is as bad as X6's worst, but the fight is dragged out by hiding under the stage where you can't hit him in a game where bosses already have too much health. and the US version gives them MORE HEALTH WTF

Nah dood, every element of MMX3 is objectively crappier than 1 and 2, but it's still good.
X3 is kinda crap in terms the way it's structure, level designs & difficult. Also the soundtrack is pretty bad ( minus the opening theme ). It's not an bad game. But it is the weakest X game IMO. I rather play X6 & X7 over X3.

Honestly i find wheel gator to be the worst from 2.. mainly because he makes you wait so much. Crystal snail may be slow mo but its easy enough to de shell and kill him without ever seeing slowmo
