In this video we take a look at every single Mega Man X game in the entire franchise (X-X8) and see which of the armor upgrades are the absolute best!!! I could have also titled this the best Dr Light capsule from every Mega Man X game X-X8 but I feel like that would be weird...

@@AidanFeemster yep Hadokuen is ez to get. Imo the Hardest Upgrade to get in X is the Buster Upgrade. It's not hard per se, but if you make a mistake you're screwed and have to die. If you don't completely make the jump and destroy the first block or two, screwed. Make the jump, destroy some of the blocks, but slip and fall, screwed. If you haven't defeated Chil Penguin first you have less platform room. Again not a hard part to get, just has multiple ways it can go wrong.
MegaCartmanX, that's a good idea.
Falcon Armour's Boots allowing you to 'hover' or 'dash through the air' is underselling it SO much.
The armor itself kind of sucks, but I'll use it any day just to fly around.
The biggest problem with the helmet upgrade from the first game is that the game really doesn't utilize it. There's only a few places with blocks you need to break through to get something, only a handful of situations where it protects you from damage.
It's a similar situation with the second game, because there's barely anything to find with it. The mapping system in the third game could have been really useful, but there's no way to bring the map back up in the level. Combining the scanning system with being able to see a level map would been pretty cool. Ultimately, in the first three games, the helmets are more or less cosmetic. They do look really cool though.
That's arguably true, but you do actually use the helmet upgrade in X1 to get at least 1 thing, namely the buster upgrade in Flame Mammoth's stage. Also worth noting that the helmet in X3 can be upgraded further to get a part that lets you refill your health and sub tanks if you stand still, which is pretty useful. So overall I would personally say that X3 has the best helmet upgrade while the worst of the 3 is in X2, which is pretty much useless and I never find myself using it's function when I play the game. But I still agree that the helmet upgrades in the first 3 X games are not that good

@@bandband4498 You would think it's needed, but as I recall, it's actually not, as you instead must have 2 things to reach it: firstly, you need to beat Launch Octopus to fill the area with water, and secondly, you actually need the leg upgrade, as it has a third effect that most people are probably not aware of in the ability to break certain blocks by wall kicking against them; said ability is also used to reach the helmet upgrade in Chill Penguin's stage in maverick hunter X, which shuffles the locations of each armor upgrade (do note that they are still in the same 4 stages as the original game, just changing which one you get). Having said that, the helmet upgrade actually is useful in one other area of Sting Chameleon's stage: if you don't beat the mini boss to unlock the Light capsule for the body armor upgrade (or buster upgrade in maverick hunter X), the cave you have to pass through will have rocks constantly dropping from the ceiling that can damage you if they hit you, but the helmet will protect you from being hurt if you have it

Don't know if it's ever mentioned but Gaia armor is not only a tank in defense but also in power. It does a lot of damage for a Buster that has limited range and also is insta charged as it only has 2 level shots instead of 3 or 4 like others.
But not being able to use other powers is still a let down, still looking so cool even in the X Dive.
honestly the best upgrade in X8 is the ability to choose what upgrades you have in use once you get them
That whole choice came down to system limitations on previous systems and it is definitely one of the best things in the game.
Imagine if you had that freedom to choose parts in X5 and X6.
Sure, X would look jank as fuck, but you could break the game.
In MMX with the Hadouken upgrade you just need all 4 E-tanks full for it to appear..

Wait, why didn't you mention the Zero Buster from Megaman X? I know it's almost the same as the upgraded buster, but it has a better normal full charged shot and the way you obtained it enriches a little the story.

That upgrade is only in the remake, Maverick Hunter X. In the original game you just get the exact same arm parts as the capsule from Zero if you didn't find the capsule. Most likely because the only weapons that can hurt the final boss's final phase is the upgraded charge shot and Rolling Shield. That way if you ran out of ammo during the fight it's impossible to not have the charge shot as a backup to finish it.

I don't know how you feel about fan games, but if Mega Man X: Corrupted was to come out, I wonder how you feel about each part of the Phoenix Armor and Hydra Armor.
Megaman 21XX is another (rather silly) fangame, though this game's armors are all or nothing like in X5/6. However there are a million playable original characters, each with way too many levels of charge shots, some buggier than others...

The falcon armor buster does not allow to charge the weapons, even seeing the video that you left there, Dr. Light mentions this detail, this part of the armor does have is that it has more ammunition, the advantage of the buster for falcon armor is that the charged shot goes through solid objects and shields

I would watch a MMX8 review of you! I think you can give MMX8 credit and proper criticsm where it's needed and maybe discover something new about it because I feel like i notice something new everytime I play it, like that you can burst up the part in Booster Forest with a thudner god punch, executed by the kaiser knuckle and the gigabolt man-o-war weapon on the end part of it where the ride armor has to be transported upwards. Just it's incredibly obscure to even know or try because the ground doesn't react to it, Palette doesn't say a word or other Navigators and it is INCREDIBLY helpful as you don't need the ball transform robot Axl should get to pass through the spikes in the part where your ride armor is passing through.

I feel like you're underselling the Falcon Armor's leg upgrade. They way you mention how it lets you "fly through the air again" sounds like you're saying it does something similar to X4's horizontal hovering. But the Falcon Armor lets you fly freely in 8 directions for a lot longer than it probably should, which is drastically different from X4's Leg Armor. Platforming isn't even really a thing anymore once you have it, aside from needing to land every few seconds.
It also gets the biggest benefit from that part that increases your running speed that you can put on any armor, since that also increases the speed, (and by extension the distance,) of the Falcon Armor's flight. It kinda breaks the game in half.
You also mentioned that the Falcon Armor's Arm Parts lets you charge special weapons, but it doesn't. It only gives you the piercing shot. A legitimate downside. But the flight is such a ridiculous upgrade it would have made the Fourth Armor completely redundant if Falcon could also charge special weapons.

I think the buster upgrade for the Gaia armor is criminally underrated. Shorter range but near instant charge time with a stronger charge shot, basically the same thing as X3’s 2nd buster upgrade but infinite usage. If the armor had normal mobility i think it’d be absurd.

You forgot to mention that in X5 and X6, you can't use an armor until you've collected all pieces of it, and you can't mix and match pieces between the different armors. Which is pretty lame. Also the fourth armor is nerfed in X5 and the falcon armor is nerfed in X6, but that's understandable for game balance.

I can't really disagree, but for the sake of it, I'd say that maybe x1 charge bonus might be better than the hadu because you can use it longer through the game and with sting chameleon's ability you get invincibility.

In megaman X4 you can get the ultimate armor without a cheat code in Dr sigma's level
My personal favourite upgrades:
X1: Arm Parts/Hadouken*. The ability to double charge your X Buster makes it an even more viable option if you don't have a boss weakness on top of giving you more sub weapon firepower. The Hadouken is also a cool Easter egg that happens to be the best weapon in the game without dominating your arsenal because it only works at full health.
X2: Arm Parts. The double buster shot has to be one of the most fun main weapons in the series and once again makes the X Buster extremely viable for all situations that don't involve shooting vertically or diagonally.
X3: Foot Parts/Gold Chip*. The ability to have multidirectional dashes is one that gives X a huge mobility boost. The Golden Armor is technically better and also better looking but I don't like the idea of having to ignore the four secret chips or lose a better one. It doesn't help that, despite being a *secret* upgrade, Kaiser Sigma is *mandatory* yet is balanced around it by dealing the X3 amount of damage even with gold armor.
X4: Head Parts/Ultimate Armor*. The game definitely made the head upgrade the most annoying to collect yet it's super worth it with its ability to use infinite sub weapons. It also doesn't dominate your arsenal by not stacking it with the arm upgrade and by having Double punish you if you use his weakness. UA doesn't really count since it's a better Fourth Armor put in a single capsule and because it's literally cheating.
X5: Falcon Armor/Ultimate Armor*. Because you can't actually *use* the parts without the full set, I'd argue the Armors themselves count as single upgrades. The Falcon Armor is definitely the more usable of the two while the Gaea Armor's flaws outweigh the positives. The UA is once again the best armor and is now legitimate, but its Nova Strike can get a bit risky because you have no invincibility frames, something that will make Tidal Whale and Sigma 2nd more annoying than they should be.
X6: Blade Armor/Ultimate Armor*. Despite Shadow Armor being far more usable than its predecessor, down to High Max being given an alternate strategy to not softlock you again, it still can't beat the Blade Armor's huge dash forward, cool design and powerful giga attack. Ultimate Armor is once again obtained via cheat code, but for some reason some stages appear to require it if you want to beat them as X and you didn't get the other armors yet. I do recommend using it though, it made me have more fun than I did playing X5.
X7: Skipped.
X8: Neutral Armor. The ability to mix and match the best parts of each armor was what made this one of the best upgrade systems in the series and makes up for how it's also the blandest armor design.

From what I saw, I think we need to fill up all 4 sub tanks if you want to get the Hadoken
The buster part of the Light armor not actually that good, indeed that it can charge special weapon which is good but the full charge of the normal buster not really good when it come to boss fight
If you say the buster part is good then why you don’t try go to all the stage with only the legs part? It’s pretty easy and nice if I have to say
And interesting thing here was the buster part of the light armor can be obtained after Zero died
Also, the Falcon’s buster can’t charge any special weapon
The Hermes’s boots can also let you dash invisible which can dodge most of the attack (it can’t dodge the kind of attack that charge forward, basically you can’t dodge punching attack)
This is the combine of the neutral armor that literally oblihirated the normal enemy: Hermes helmet and boots, Icarus armor and buster
the subtanks do not need to be full, all you need is to have the 4 of them + 8 hearts + the full armor and a full health once you reach that part because you need full health to use it.

I find it odd that you refer to all the Giga Attacks as if they're all the same thing, when nearly every armor has a different kind of Giga Attack. The Second Armor has a full screen explosion that annihilates enemies and mini-bosses, but it barely does anything to the Mavericks. The Fourth Armor (and PS1 Ultimate Armor) has the Nova Strike that destroys enemies and mini-bosses and even does more damage to Mavericks than any weakness. The Falcon Amor bombards the screen with laser blasts from the top and bottom of the screen. The Gaea Armor hits anything in front of it with a Naruto-style Odama Rasengan. The Blade Armor launches a Z Saber blast (that unfortunately doesn't shred 3/5 of a Mavericks' health like in X3). The Shadow Armor encircles itself with two orange crescents that don't care about i-frames. The Glide Armor has a full screen explosion like the Second Armor, except it actually does a nice bit of damage to Mavericks. The complete Icarus Armor also has a full screen explosion, doing a quarter of a Maverick's health, but this time it automatically recharges. The complete Hermes Armor has the X-Drive, which lets you run even faster, charge even faster, and fires charge shots off in five directions instead of just three. The X8 Ultimate Armor goes back to the Nova Strike, but now it leaves Mavericks with 1 HP (4 HP in Hard Mode) to do their invincible super attacks with.

Shadow armor is the best of all, specially because of its charged saber.
And am I the only one who thinks x4's head piece is kinda useless anyways because your ammo is getting refilled after every death anyways and the only time where ammo kinda matters but not really is vs the bosses only anyways?
Also same with Blade Armor from x6 imo is the worst armor from the PS1 games by far.
