What are your thoughts on the wild ways speedrunners broke Pokemon Platinum?
I'm surprised that the game didn't break
@@RhysHill-ur8lq ?
Rng manipulation was such a big thing in speedruns with glitches but haven’t they stopped it in the more recent games?
@mew_totem9006 They kind of did with how difficult it is to perform in 3DS games onward. I think I heard Scarlet/Violet is nearly impossible to manip.
@PulseEffects ok
Bro : ''Dude I'm genuinely tweaking rn''
What bro is actually doing :
I'm literally shaking and pissing and tweaking all over void
Gamefreak stopped using the bike because it was too powerful
I have to apologise for liking this comment.. I bumped it from 69 😭
@@kristenknowles3079 Apology accepted
no wonder it costs a million dollars
Dear! Pulse is discussing Pokémon speedruns again! Get the sparkling water!
When I first played pokemon Pearl, I randomly encountered that same level 40 Tentacruel. It was never a pokemon I liked, but seing a beast that high level cautivated my younger me and captured it. Seeing it being called a god makes me so happy and nostalgic...
I have enough of tentacruel and tentacool on emerald that im not liking them solely based on that reason
@@Sayurawesome11 Well, I was a child and I only saw: strong pokemon with high level! But yeah, they are very anoying
Tweaking hast to be one of the most broken glitches in Pokémon history
Gen 1 would like to disagree. Though how many of the truly busted things are actually glitches might be debatable.
@@135forte The 8F glitch item is effectively a built-in Game Shark in the right hands, reaching the same level as the Pomeg Glitch and Glitzer Popping, if not farther
@Richtofen-gy9cj If that is the one I think it is, that is arguably a debug tool they left in the game. Like I said, where the oversights end and glitches start in Gen 1 tends to vary person to person. The same person okay with badge boost might not be okay with pokedoll skip, but someone okay with pokedoll skip might not be okay with spawning Gengar in Viridian Forest.
Kid named RBY:
Gen 3 ACE would be up there too
6:58 Completing the Distortion World is not actually what unlocks the path to Sunyshore City. What actually unlocks it in Platinum is talking to Professor Rowan in his lab after the Distortion World. For some reason the guy is still blocking the path, saying there's a black out until this is done. Talking to Rowan after the Distortion World is also what triggers the Lake Guardians to appear in their respective caves. Diamond & Pearl and Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl triggers all of these things once the player has battle Dialga/Palkia, not requiring you to talk to the Professor since he's already there at Spear Pillar in those games, as opposed to Platinum having Cynthia showing up there instead.
the fact that u gotta capture tentacruel twice is hilarious
I was never able to recreate it, but I accidentally tweaked in Veilstone City when I was a little kid. I don't remember if it was Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum (I owned all 3), but I know I ended up inside the ground by the Game Corner. Like I said, could never recreate it, but thought it was interesting.
You might just be able to do it again with a bit of research! I recommend checking out @retireglitch channel in the description of this video.
Werster mentioned. I clapped.
I have nothing but admiration for speedrunners who can pull this off. Loved this game and tried to learn tweaking, learned how skilled these people are lmao
I love these speedrunner videos, it makes me so happy.
Pokemon Platinum bike glitches are the funniest thing, ran into them a handful of times while just playing regularly as a child.
Wait... people actually hate on glitched speedruns? The glitchless category is right there?
I've been waiting a long time for someone to say this 😭
@PulseEffects I mean it's common sense. Speedrunning has different categories for a reason. If you don't like a certain category there are hundreds of others to watch.
@@sorinsilverheart3200 you'd be surprised how often people outright dismiss glitched categories without ever mentioning glitchless!
Ooo, new speedrunning video!
Golduck was my partner back in my playthrough of Diamond coincidentally on the Eterna lake close to the spot you mentioned. Crazy it gets a spotlight in a category many years later.
Hearing the Budokai music about 8 and a half minutes in woke me up fiercely hooooly
I've had dragon ball on the mind since Sparking ZERO was announced. Didn't expect to hear the music in a pokemon vid lol
liked and subscribed
Move over Tentacruel, as of yesterday, Platinum is now in the era of the Duck.
I'm gonna start calling Oreburgh's Gym Leader Rorick now.
Like that place in Skyrim, Rorikstead
Tweaking is up there right next to Bow Lift Smuggle Slide in terms of glitch naming
Great video! Short and to the point. Also what was the track starting about 4:30 again? seems very familiar
Tentacruel was always my fav now to proves to be even better than I thought his so good of a Pokemon underrated
Dang, I need to grab a Golduck next time I play gen 4. Already got a lot of use out of Gallade in fog because it gets a ton of moves that can't miss, but Golduck negating it all together is even better
I feel like there was a missed opportunity in the thumbnail to have a Golduck peeking its head out of the water in the top right.
I think of RNG manip speedruns like seeded minecraft runs. Not a fan personally. I feel like glitchless should cover manip as to protect the gameplay intentions, but I get that speedrunning is essentially down to consistency. Games that are heavily invested in the RNG side just arent the best fit for the category imo
tweaking got me
Good video
They were tweaking
10:35 I'm not exactly a glitch hater...I'm just a hater of when glitches completely take up the entire run and it's barely the game at that point...take for example Elden Ring. I respect the level of grinding and skill it does take to zip around the map to get the super low times, I just think that it's more fun to watch someone beat down bosses in a hilarious and unexpected way compared to normal gameplay. This run is a middle area for me where I think the glitches are actually pretty cool and like how it leads to breaking through the whole game.
Thank god I'm not the only person who pronounces it "Hearth-ome" instead of "Heart-home"
What do you expect from the guy who pronounces Gengar as jen-jar.
@@666blaziken or Roark as Roarick, apparently
Tentacruel is my boy
Damn werster is a Name i haven't Heard in a Long time
i love tweaking
8th anniversary video?
"More of a Tank than a offensiv Pokemon" - yes but no. While Tentacruel has a disgusting SP.Def with good HP it also is suprisingly fast and has good Sp.Atk. Its more of an offtank that can seriously trouble the enemys. The Combination of Blacksludge and Protect gives him very good sustain, Scald is an absurdly good allround move for defense and offense, Acidspray should be straight up illegal as it makes sure that Tentacruel outlives everyone but no one outlives Tentacruel and stuff like Toxic Spikes are just the Cherry on top.
I had a Team with Tentacruel in Gen6 that would terrorize battleplaza. It was amazing
What if you used a double Golduck route? Is it even possible?
Hi PulseEffect, I have a mighty need and I think you'd be the best person.
I told a friend that I like watching pokemon speedrunning and they said it didn't sound very exciting. Have you considered a highlights of pokemon speedrunning type video? You're amazing at hyping the runs up and I could think of noone better...
GDQ runs, including some of their hotfix content might work (tho I think Pulse’s summary videos are a better starting point to understand a little), having entertaining commentators helps a lot when these runs are multi hour events lol
That's exactly what got me started! And I do love them.
Hold up was that dbz budokai menu music I heard snuck in there 😂
What is the song 6 minutes in its killing me 😢
Pretty sure it's the Suoer Smash Bros Melee break the targets theme in case you haven't found it
Did u really didnt tagged werster youtube and twitch
Would this work on an emulator?
Yes!
💪🏻💪🏻
Damn man, i remember when pokemon games were fun. Feels bad man
*Who tf is “Ro-Rick”? It’s pronounced “Roar-ck”*
That's exactly what I said though!
@@PulseEffectsnah it should rhyme with cork
0:00 “The year is 2016”
No it’s not. The year is 2024.
I always find it stupid that people point at menu storage in BDSP as a sign the game is bad when this shit exists lmao.
Could you stop putting that ringing noise in the background?
there’s no ringing noise…. check your headphones / speakers.
Holy tinnitus!
We have to be honest. if you say you love gen 4 then you are talking about platinum and not diamond and pearl that's why the remakes were so bad. Luckily we had legends arceus to give gen 4 the love it deserved
