Thanks for bringing this to light and I hope Olya gets justice. Sasha's anger issues are blatantly obvious seeing his behavior on court and his interactions with other players. Clearly a 1 year ban is too light for what he did at Mexico. His apology afterwards in the media was more of a mockery and completely lacked contrition. Now he makes an issue out of nothing with Medvedev at Monte Carlo 2023. While ATP cannot do much about what he does in his personal life, but videos like this will definitely increase social awareness. People should realize that Sasha is not a star. He is nothing but a spoilt brat with a terrible attitude and rage issues.

Do you want ATP to arrest him, put him into one of ATP jails? Man, you should learn how society works. Sport organizations manage sports, police arrests suspects BASED ON EVIDENCE and court decides if the person guilty. This is how normal society works. And if there’s not enough evidence to to accuse person, then he or she is innocent even if you don’t like him/her. Or there is an extreme opposite example - something like North Korea where those who have power ruin lives of those they don't like for some reason. Do you want to live in that kind of society?

I had to come back to this video because it was your channel that introduced me to Alexander Zverev's domestic issues. On Wednesday 1st Nov 2023, Zverev was fined £400K for abuse in a German court case. He has blocked the new accuser ex- ex-model girlfriend from contacting the other accuser, which doesn’t surprise me. The ATP must take action against him due to the fines and if he is found guilty. This is absolute hackery of the worst kind, and the comments section is just filled with people jumping on the bandwagon, showing contempt for a person accused with no evidence, other than he’s thrown a couple of tantrums on court. Oh dear, a 24 year old was a prick a few times and lost his temper. This whole video is narrated as though it were known fact, occasionally throwing in a muted, token reminder that it is act the version of the story that Sharapova sold to a magazine, rather than the appropriate authority. There has been one court case on this matter and the court found in favour of Zverev. So many people are commenting that this case is under reported elsewhere, congratulating the creator of this video for highlighting it, and accusing the mainstream media of ignoring it or lacking the spine to print it. A better explanation is that the credibility of newspapers, TV news etc, is partly attributable to their journalistic standards and ethics. Most outlets won’t accuse Zverev, or pronounce judgement as to his guilt, because they (as the law requires) must assume innocence until proof of guilt. They also have to be far more careful not to libel or slander a member of the public. No such restrictions can be applied to a virtually anonymous UA-cam creator, and especially not to the legions of commenters who don’t let their own lack of facts or evidence get in the way of their outrage, adjudicating the case, narrating their own speculative version of events as though it were the established truth and pronouncing arbitrary judgement. And now, a young man must live his life with the label of domestic abuser, despite there having been no conclusion as such from police investigation, no official accusation or charge and therefore no verdict rendered. There’s a reason the law works the way it does, and that’s to protect people from mob justice, which is too often driven by emotion and not hard evidence.

I see some people using Zverev’s behavior on court as argument for possible violence towards Olya. That argument makes no sense. @derek You're conflating two things - ensuring safety for a potential victim of abuse, and punishing a supposed perpetrator of abuse. She should be afforded, certainly, the ability to leave the relationship safely.
There is absolutely no ethical grounds to punish a person merely upon unsubstantiated allegations.
Relevantly, the fact that when confronted with his father present, she was he one who refused to leave, and the father said he has evidence she had punched him, makes me doubt her story, and wonder whether she is the abuser (or if, at least, it was a mutually abusive relationship). But likewise, I don't call for her to be punished - if anything is to be done, it is by law enforcement and courts and their investigation, not extrajudicial agents (such as tennis associations).

I've been a huge fan of your work, CT, but there's some issues here.
We're presenting the words of his ex-gf as fact, despite the fact that nothing has come about this. I wish her words were much more clear cut and had some weight behind it, but alas, there isn't. Also, even with the money Zverev has for lawyers and such, the whole defamation case situation really has put everything underground, as legally, she can't even talk about this anymore. It is all allegations and nothing to show for it. As much as some dislike/hate Zverev, you have to see that there's just nothing there. That's why it's been so slow. This isn't to suggest Zverev isn't emotionally volatile on court, but as someone under this video said, on-court and off-court behaviors can contrast given the stress players put themselves under. Anger spouts on court shouldn't be 100% indicative of off court behaviors. This is why it's such a muddy situation.
Now, regarding his racket slams/(basically) attack on the umpire that caused his suspended ban, that wasn't harsh enough. Plain and simple. On court stuff should be handled much better by the ATP, but they simply can't touch anything else, at least right now. Again, as someone else said here, the "guilty until proven innocent" mindset is how we got the Depp story going on; complete opposite of what actually happened. I'm not trying to suggest she did/didn't do anything, but you *must* be careful before throwing the blame out there.

Well done by the ATP for not sanctioning a player based on mere allegations from one individual. Innocent until proven guilty. If they would believe these accusations without proof, a conviction or a sentence from a court then they would potentially take years of Zverev's career, likely ending it. We saw that happen many times after metoo. Kevin Spacey for example. One of the biggest actors in Hollywood was disgraced and fired from every project he was working on. Many years later he was found innocent.
I'm not saying that Zverev didn't do at least some of what she claims. No one knows that except Zverev and the girl. But it is problematic if an organization like ATP would listen to rumors instead of facts. It is her responsibility to take this to the police instead of sending texts and images to friends.

The court of public opinion is not the one in which we should put anyone on trial. I know the allegations are very bad, but I believe in fair trails and I want the evidence to be subject to some level of scrutiny that a proper criminal justice court is bound to do. Media always wants their stories and has a tendency to print/publish anything that gives them more views. The more bigger the story/claims, the better for their bottom line.
Also, why not hire a lawyer and go to court with the evidence? It isn't neither the ATP's job, nor within ATP's capability to establish the truth of those claims. For example, ATP doesn't have the power to subpoena security cam footage, telephone records, to get to the truth. If Zverev is proven guilty in any court of law, by all means take all the necessary disciplinary actions.

I hate this guy. I can't even bring myself to watch his matches, not even to root against him. And what he did in Acapulco didn't even shock me at all. This is an unbalanced, spoiled brat who I would gladly see forgotten by the tennis community asap.

She took too long to report a crime.if she would have reported earlier either zverev has gotten the jail time for domestic violence and assault or she would have face the consequences for false acquisitions and faced a good penalty for reputational damage

Thank you for making this video. More people need to be made aware of this. I may be wrong, I get the sense that if this was any other player, the ATP would have done more. Just look at that incident with the racket smash against the umpires chair - the ATP showed themselves to have no back bone and sends the wrong message, particularly to young fans. If Nick had done the same, I'm sure the penalties would have been more severe.

No doubt Zverev has a bad attitude, but why do you think the ATP's investigation team say they could find no evidence against him? Did she ever say why she doesn't want police involved?

Unpopular opinion: I'm glad the ATP has remained largely uninvolved. Domestic disputes are complicated; almost never 1-sided. It's better to wait for legal charges and investigations. Let the professionals handle it.
Zverev does indeed seem like a real ass TBH, but I'm not going to rush to judgement until I know the full story.
